  1. Please do not hit into a double play here scissors so Bryant gets another AB
  2. I guess its possible. But my guess is Joe was trying to save everyone for Coors Field next. Yep, especially with another spot start game on Saturday with Montgomery/Cahill.
  3. We were due for a game like this. Hopefully we escape with a win
  4. Guess Rondon is getting a day off or his triceps are hurting again.
  5. horsefeathering hell how does this guy keep doing it? This is now more insane than Billy Hamilton's performance against us
  6. To go along with his multiple Kris Bryant games last year (the two I'm thinking of are the July 4th game against the Marlins where he hit a 2 run bomb and grand slam in the first 2 innings of the game and the GW HR against the Rockies game that is the single tipping point for 12 months of Cubs dominance)
  7. Reminds me of when Todd Walker needed a double for the cycle in Houston and instead just banged out HR #2. Good old Todd Walker.
  8. You have to view these games through the lens of 'trying to figure things out before the playoffs' , so he probably will put unproven pitchers in big spots to see how they fare. Right now Joe probably has about 33 guys that he is evaluating to make the postseason roster. Obviously about 22 of those spots are filled, so these 6 weeks will be big in determining who the other 3 guys are.
  9. Damn just realized that 5th run is charged to Jake. ERA still sitting pretty damn good at 2.75 though.
  10. Thanks Brewer idiot. Braun was on deck too right?
  11. Why is he still in the game after walking 2 straight guys with the bases loaded and tying run on 2nd?
  12. I think they might have gotten him but it seems really close and i havent seen a great view yet
  13. Can ANYONE on the Cubs throw strikes today? lol
  14. Maybe because Jake is awesome and we know how good he has been and can be so we want to show appreciation that we are allowed to watch him pitch
  15. Spencer Patton with the tying run up and the wind blowing out, meh
  16. Definitely not freaking out but if there's anything to be concerned about its the 6 walks. He has struggled with his command for large parts of the year despite still being an ace quality pitcher. I kind of thought he had turned the corner since the ASB so its a little concerning to see him have no command of his FB again. Could just be a blip, and Jake is too talented of a pitcher to struggle with his command for long, but we are in a 6 week coast to the finish line so a natural worrier like me starts looking for areas that need to be shored up before October. I think its more likely than not that I am silly for even bringing it up when he's dominating through October.
  17. Jake has never had a 7 walk game in his career, and this is only the 3rd time in his career (and 2nd as a Cub) that he's allowed 6 walks in a start.
  18. With a big lead, I would almost consider just pulling him after 80 pitches and letting him rest that arm. Yeah it might tax the pen before a series in Colorado but, i think our starter being rested and pitching well in October is more important.
  19. Don't know at all if someone has called him that but it was an on going discussion/joke in June when Arrieta was struggling to pitch more than 5-6 innings.
  20. Whoa whoa. He's walked guys, but this isn't "bad Arrieta". 5 walks in 5 innings is pretty bad Yes but 2 hits in 5 innings is pretty good. I would say Mehrrieta
  21. You're going to wake up tonight and just find Hendricks staring at you from the foot of your bed. I was only being formal. Plus Jake is still the WAR leader on the staff with 3.7 to Hendricks' 3.0 WAR hasn't found a way to account for the awesome intangibles that Hendricks brings yet.
  22. :-k Just a term to encompass the Jake that doesn't have his best control and is forced to labor and rack up a high pitch count earlier in the game. I'm aware that with his PC jake could go 7 today due to an efficient first 3 innings.
  23. Well the return of 6 Inning Jake is an unpleasant surprise but at least he's kept it under control except the HR. But I'm a little more nervous that we are going to see this Jake pop up in the playoffs.
