  1. Can't read the rest because its Insider but... http://espn.go.com/blog/buster-olney/insider/post?id=13679
  2. I wasn't expecting much out of Floyd this year, maybe a Mark Anderson type impact where he dominates when played situationally. But obviously the big loss if its a bad injury is that he loses a year of development for a guy that needs it. That said, because we're talking about John Fox, I doubt we will get a true indication of whats wrong with him anytime soon.
  3. Holy hell I didn't look up his deal before posting but I never assumed he would be under contract for 4 more seasons after this one. Ok that changes my mind a bit. Also, Wade Davis isn't better than Chapman. Geez I dont know they are pretty close over the last 3 years although Davis' numbers have declined slightly each year in that time frame. His xFIP is a little jarring this year compared to Chapman. They are close enough that the extra year of control is why Davis should have more value than Chapman
  4. Haha, well at least we still have Kevin White as a 1st rounder this year (hopefully)
  5. I have to admit, after 2014 I gave up on him as a potential useful player in the future (shocking that I would be pessimistic about something I know, but I wasnt alone), and it has taken me a long time to feel fully comfortable with him but I am completely on board now. I never would have imagined he would be a 3 win player this year (at 1.9 on FG, 2.2 on BR currently). Obviously he has his flaws, he's never going to walk a bunch, he's always going to have those ABs where he is overmatched from the start and swinging at junk, but overall he is a damn good player and hopefully will get even better. He still only has 675 major league PAs.
  6. For our team I would just rather have the rental. Ian Kennedy getting paid 16 million still in 2020 when he's not very good in 2016 doesn't seem fun. Holy hell I didn't look up his deal before posting but I never assumed he would be under contract for 4 more seasons after this one. Ok that changes my mind a bit.
  7. [tweet] [/tweet] I'd be a little upset if Wade Davis + Kennedy's contract fetches a similar return as Chapman to the Cubs.
  8. OPS vs. LHB (over 30 AB) Ross 1.139 Baez 1.049 Bryant 1.031 Fowler .884 Contreras .861 Rizzo .844 Zobrist .828 Szczur .827 Russell .701 Heyward .647 (somehow better than vs. RHP!) Granted Sale is not your average LHP, but the fact is our guys love facing lefties.
  9. I feel like we used to have some sort of term for when the Cubs won by a significant margin
  10. We still gonna use Chapman with a 7 run lead?
  11. I hate to say this because of how bad the offense has been lately but kind of hurry up so I can see Chapman and catch the Obama speech
  12. There's a reason why the Cubs are last in the MLB in save opps
  13. Not if the offense gets their horsefeathers together here
  14. I can't wait until we point to this as the hit that turned this horrifying mediocre stretch around like Bryant last year
  15. Maybe I'm just noticing the positive results but it seems like Javy has been better vs RHP lately
  16. Oh hey now you have to face Rondon and Chapman
  17. On the plus side second half Hammel is not too bad so far
  18. As long as I've been following baseball I just don't understand how teams can go through a stretch where the entire teams offense slumps at the same time. It's like a disease that quickly spreads up and down the order
  19. What if last years NLDS and this years start to the season plus adding Lackey and Heyward was a giant troll job by our fearful Cardinal loving God and now he's pulling the rug out from under us?
  20. Ok now we've matched the offensive output of their rookie AL pitcher. Let's go for the jugular
  21. plus, ya know, having a 6.5 game lead on the division This is not the same Cubs team as they were in April and May. Why is April/May what the Cubs are and June/July is considered a fluke? Probably because a majority of this years roster was on a 97 win Cubs team that went to the NLCS last year.
  22. Yeah white sox we could like totally beat you guys if we wanted to. We just aren't trying hard.
