  1. I just want to point out that when the Cubs took the lead, my wife watched me celebrate and said 'geez, you probably enjoyed that more than the birth of our kids'. So...I guess I was right.
  2. In my delirium last night, I didn't even realize the count on Baez's hit. It wasn't till I was showing the recording of the 9th to my son this morning that I realized it....what a terrible pitch. I was fully expecting it to be in the dirt or at eye level.
  3. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/gamefeed?game_pk=487610&type=exit_velocity&chart_type=sbp&inning=&count=&batter_hand=&pitcher_hand=&filter= Interesting/fun stuff here. xBA of every meaningful ball in play that inning: Bryant: .600 Zobrist: .647 Contreras .214 Javy .345
  4. Sorry if this was posted already: [tweet]https://twitter.com/cwbchicago/status/786046902361952256[/tweet] CPD sent home mounted horse officers in the 9th inning. Even CPD didn't believe in the Cubs!
  5. I can't get over how awesome this is. How many times in our lives have we watched a Cubs game where the Cubs trailed by multiple runs late and thought 'well maybe we can do this, but everything has to go perfect'. On some occasions the Cubs have succeeded, but think about how many times we got the leadoff guy on, the next batter is up 3-1 in the count and you are starting to believe, only to see liner right to fielder/groundball that is not quite close enough to getting through/chase ball 4/foul popup that almost gets out of play but doesn't. So many rallies we've seen die after getting our hopes up, we even use the term 'fake rally' in here quite often. But you keep hoping and keep believing that it's possible because one time something like this happens and Bryants well hit grounder finds the perfect spot just past the SS, Rizzo lays off pitches he was chasing earlier in the series, Zo gets a hold of one down the RF line, Willy finds a hole up the middle, Heyward hits a terrible bunt that should have been a rally killing double play but instead ends up accomplishing what he was hoping for with the bunt, then Javy...0-2 count. You've seen this AB enough from Javy to know how it ends, but he's made his adjustments and instead of whiffing he puts the ball into play to score the winning run. Sorry for the verbal diarrhea, I'm just trying to put into words how amazing last night was.
  6. It has to be today then right? I mean Game 1 is Saturday. Announce today, purchase tomorrow.
  7. Also, while there were definitely still hiccups, despite all the attacks the board seemed more stable last night and only a couple of crashes that I remember. Thanks for your hard work our fearless leader!
  8. Sounds like Maddon was at least somewhat considering PHing for Baez in the 9th. Glad he didn't. Joe the RH thing is dead!
  9. Weekend temps are both highs in the 70s and lows in the mid-60s. That's donging weather!
  10. What's up with Pat? He seemed a lot more excited calling last years playoffs?
  11. https://twitter.com/jayrad523/status/786064180445061121
  12. Reading Whitesoxinteractive go from celebratory making jokes about the Cubs not facing the Reds in the playoffs to angry and bitter over the span of a page is such a joy
  13. I want to punch Pete Rose in the face. I mean I've always wanted to but even more now. Arod gushes about Theo for like 5 minutes then Pete comes in and says "yeah but can you imagine how difficult of a job he is going to have to keep all these guys in the future"
  14. Anyone received any winning/losing emails for NLCS tickets? Drawing ended last Friday
  15. A side benefit to this is that I can now enjoy Jake and KB's home runs for the rest of my life
  16. Baez went from like my 4th favorite Cub to my favorite Cub to so much my favorite Cub that I am mad at myself that he wasn't my favorite Cub before.
  17. Guys did we determine who has the coconuts yet?
  18. So we're rooting for the Dodgers tomorrow right?
  19. I know there's no such thing as LDS MVP but there is absolutely no doubt that if there was one it is Javy. Had the game winning hit for 2 of the 3 wins, jaw dropping defense and brought energy
  20. This is also a graph of giants fans belief in the even year thing
  21. I mean do you realize that we just witnessed the greatest postseason moment of our lives? How many horsefeathering years did we wait to have a team that can do something like this? soak it the horsefeathers up
  22. In case anyone wants to get nervous, Posey due up 4th next inning
