  1. Did ARod just say that the feeling around the city feels a little like "Notre Dame-USC"? What a random reference
  2. Strange that the Indians are halfway through the ALCS and we haven't even started our series.
  3. Trust in Lester and his ability to induce weak contact
  4. Lol actually kind of funny Wish KB/Rizzo/Addy would do more of their funny Instagram videos
  5. Geez that is blowing out hard. Predictions on number of Cub dongs tonight?
  6. Maeda has failed to go 6 innings in 11 of his last 15 starts and hasn't lasted 7 in any of the other 4 outings. He has a 4.25 ERA in the second half and struggled in his playoff start.
  7. Russell will be the surprise star of the series. He was virtually invisible in the NLDS but he's ready to break out of his 5 week slump in a big way
  8. Michigan chose a really shitty week to have their bye. Could have used 3 hours of distraction. Although last year I had that before NLCS Game 1 and it became the worst sports day of my life (Michigan State last play collapse followed by Cubs loss)
  9. Curse of the seal now in play Rob z on the roster, lastella off
  10. I don't think it's bad. There is talent just a lot of new young guys. There will be growing pains. Don't base an opinion on playing 2 teams that are legit contenders in the west.
  11. Not being ticket police here, but just asking for future reference. How did you use 4 emails? Don't they specify only 1 entry per person? To the best of my knowledge any unique email address will count as an entry. I signed up with several email addresses and got a rejection email for each one. I might spend a few hours creating email addresses for WS tickets
  12. Wtf. I am reading this Yahoo preview of the series and when they got to looking at the pen they had this line: Huh?
  13. Sounds like Kershaw is officially/unofficially starting Sunday. Awesome we will probably get a not as sharp version of Kershaw with less stamina to go deep into the game. Fine by me
  14. https://www.groupon.com/deals/gl-nlcs-game-2-cubs-playoffs-rooftop Legit view of game and under $200 but for game 2 https://www.groupon.com/deals/gl-nlcs-cubs-skybox-on-sheffield-rooftop $149 for a blocked rooftop ticket to game 1
  15. I didn't even think about the fact that if Kershaw can't go until Game 3, that pushes Hill to Game 4 and unable to start 2 games on normal rest. That means only 2 of the first 6 games would be started by Kershaw or Hill.
  16. I was at game 1. I can still see that freaking Loney HR carry into the seats. At least I got to see Maddux's 3rd to last appearance in the majors.
  17. According to Levine, they might not have to as Miggy might not be on the roster due to back pain
  18. Tribune is saying it's looking like the wind will be blowing out 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph tomorrow
  19. So weird that we played them 7 times this year and managed to avoid the only Dodger starter that stayed mostly healthy (right?)
  20. To be fair, it's not just since their WS that they haven't had any playoff success. Since 1918, they've won only 9 playoff games total outside of 2005. they've also never made the playoffs in consecutive seasons in franchise history and have only played in 2 World Series since 1918 (i know its been 70 years since the last but if the Cubs make it this year they will have played in 6 since 1918). They nearly equals in terms of being a historically inept franchise, and one of the underlying reasons they fear a Cubs title so much is that when we get it they will be the single most inept team of the pre-expansion franchises. I mean holy hell, they've made the playoffs 9 times in 115 years!
  21. Yes but like Kyle said, 110 pitches on short rest could have some residual effect on his performance even on normal rest. If you start him Game 3 he gets 2 extra days of recovery, he gets to pitch at home where he is better (although Dodger Stadium is part of that), he still gets 2 starts, he is lined up to pitch Game 7, and if you need him in an elimination game he can pitch Game 6 on short rest. I'd rather have him go game 2 personally as I think he will not have a lot of stamina for the game.
  22. Game 2 is likely Kershaw. Urias also pitched yesterday. But Urias didn't also throw 110 pitches on tuesday after throwing 101 pitches on Friday and doesn't have a bad back that he missed a good chunk of the season with. All valid points. And Kershaw can still throw twice in the series if he starts game 3. It might honestly depend on the Game 1 result. When we win Roberts might decide he doesn't want to risk going to LA down 0-2 and start Kershaw. My question is, does him coming on in relief really factor into things? I was kind of half following so I'm not sure how long Kershaw was warming up, but he only threw what 9 pitches in the actual game? On his side day? I know throwing pitches in a bullpen session is not equivalent to throwing them in a game but I'd think it would be a bigger factor if he threw like 30 pitches vs. 9. But I don't know anything so I'm hoping someone can answer.
  23. I think I deserve some damn respect if my game threads win 9 straight playoff games and deliver the championship. ok ok it will likely be in spite of me
  24. Any series ending with the Cubs going to the world series is not disappointing. No he's right. If we don't win the rest of our games and finish the playoffs 11-1 it doesn't count according to White Sox fans
  25. The Dodgers. The mother horsefeathering Dodgers. You know who isn't scared of the Dodgers (besides everyone)? This man: http://www.gannett-cdn.com/-mm-/4d5b36cc4d4df0946aad6326798f74523994ac27/c=0-640-2975-2877&r=x404&c=534x401/local/-/media/2015/05/16/USATODAY/USATODAY/635674020164025923-USP-MLB-PITTSBURGH-PIRATES-AT-CHICAGO-CUBS-73094258.JPG Jon had a rough start against the Dodgers this year. He gave up a HR to the first batter he faced, some dude named Enrique Hernandez. Then he was like 'horsefeathers this' and went on to pitch 15 straight scoreless innings against the Dodgers. He's good and he is kryptonite for the Dodgers because of the hand he pitches with. So really the rest of the breakdown doesn't matter. The Cubs will win this game. They will then beat up on the rented mule with the bad back. Then head to LA and beat One Pitch Rich followed by whatever unlucky soul they choose to go out there in Game 4. 8 more wins til the promised land. Go Cubs!
