    What do you mean by this? Stubhub stops selling tickets 6 hours before gametime, which causes a bunch of unsold tickets to flood into the market, and people usually panic and the prices start dropping. There are a lot of scams on craigslist but saw quite a few geniunine looking posts selling tickets for well under 1k each, some in the 500-600 range for actual seats.

    Interesting thing about Tomlin. He had a terrible August and temporarily got booted from the rotation until the Salazar injury put him back in. During that brief time in the pen, he worked with the Indians coaches on a couple of specific adjustments to his pitching. Since he was put back into the rotation, he's had 6 starts, pitching 36.1 innings and allowing just 8 ER (1.98 ERA). He attributes his success to the adjustments made. But I don't think a lot of that will matter with the donging conditions in the air tonight.

    How do Yankee fans live like this? Damn degenerates. Also, I no issue with becoming a degenerate every October. The first is always the most disruptive. I will still be a nervous wreck in future Octobers, but if we win this year I think I will at least be able to get some work done on week days. I think.

    For those interested in the effects of the wind tonight....this is what it looked like last year in the NLDS when the wind was blowing out 20 MPH: [tweet] [/tweet] Of the 8 HRs hit that game, only 2 would have been gone with no wind at all. The wind is expected to be blowing harder than it was for the above game tonight.

    Any realistic option for a dude willing to drink and pony up, but with a teenage son coming along who obviously doesn't drink? Would any of these places allow underage patrons? Otherwise, care to give me a good recommendation on a "family friendly" joint close by? Landed here yesterday. The calm before the storm is eerie. Most(All?) of the bars immediately around Wrigley are going to be 21+ only. I'd give D'Agostino's a call. Just a few blocks down from the stadium. Pizza place, but they're pretty Cub-centric. Should be a decent atmosphere. On saturday they had a giant TV set up in the outdoor patio area that you could easily watch from the sidewalk

    Yeah this isn't a good look for the Cubs. Unless he murdered someone that I don't know about, he should be there. He must have done something bad that wasn't reported that burned serious bridges. The fans from what I've seen generally either want him welcomed back or are indifferent. He had a lot of warts, but I believe he had a net positive impact on the Cubs organization. He is not the biggest reason, but I think he is a small reason why the Cubs are a nationally relevant team, and an entire generation of fans who are now in their early-30's grew up idolizing Sammy.

    They had a police perimeter west of Wrigley late during Game 6 but UMFan and I managed to get through. Just had to go down some side streets. Yeah I believe the blockades aren meant to prevent a large number of people from accessing the area. When we went down there there were a ton of people walking the other direction convinced that because they couldn't cross at Racine there was no way to access the park, but all you had to do was walk down to Waveland to get through.

    This got me wondering if there is anyone around from the '45 team that they could wheel out. The answer, sadly, is no: The Tigers' Ed Mierkowicz is the only one left. :( Happier angle: We've got a World Series game at Wrigley tonight! Woo hoo! :yahoo: Yeah the last living Cubs player died last year I believe. The good news is that there are now 25 living people to have played for the Cubs in the World Series, and they are all young enough to stick around for quite awhile.

    I'm in Logan Square and I've been doing the games at Easy Bar on Division & Damen. Stroll in around game time and grab a table. Super chill, 2 minute wait for drinks. Seems like if you wanted to get the Wrigleyville madhouse experience after the game you could do it while still finding a lower key place for the game. The bar still goes nuts when good stuff happens, but people generally haven't been drinking for 8 hours when the game starts so probably a bit less raucous. Also probably less of a novelty but you won't spend your day in a line outside or at the bar waiting for your drink. The Cubs are in the World Series so I won't say that craziness isn't worth it but thought I'd give an eye witness account of what the bars are like west of the highway. Yeah, for last weekend I met soccer10k at a bar on Southport after scoping out the scene near the park and the horrible lines. There was a short line at the bar but it wasn't all that bad. And it was close enough to the park that we walked down to Wrigley in the 8th and were there for the final outs. I'm hoping for something like that this weekend but I'm guessing even Southport will be a madhouse. It's worth the effort though, been waiting my whole life to be around a World Series at Wrigley.

    I want to go down there for one of the games just to soak up the atmosphere but I'm not ready to wait 3 hours in line nor pay $500 in cover fee to go into a bar. Hoping the bars on Southport or points south/west of the park aren't ridiculous.

    this is so ridiculous Fox is a coach, he's built nothing. Hendry had as much power and money as a gm could hope to have. He did what he wanted and failed. It's only like the 43rd most ridiculous thing he's said this week. Btw my irrational love for Cutler makes me want him just dominate the next few weeks even if it causes the Bears to have a worse draft pick

    Also, I'm pretty sure that Kyle doesn't want to be in the field for Game 4 so Lacey can contribute to blowing out his knee again.

    Yeah this is fine. I get that it's the World Series but it sounds like they are doing a mix of whats best for the team and whats best for Kyle. Will be nice to have his bat available at pretty much any point in the game the next 3 days.
