  1. I'd imagine that phone records are some of the easiest things to monitor in the recruiting process. How hard is it to keep all recruiting calls to one cell phone per coach? How hard is it to monitor a cell phone call sheet?
  2. Hawpe is no worse defensively then the lot the Cubs have trotted out there recently. Sosa (the latter years), Hollandsworth, Grieve, Burnitz, Bradley, etc, etc, etc. The only remotely close to good defensively RF the Cubs have had is now playing CF. Hawpe is pretty clearly worse than all of those guys except maybe Grieve who played roughly 4 innings in RF for us.
  3. I have no idea how somebody could consider Miguel Cabrera more valuable than Joe Mauer.
  4. would he have really? Going to bid for Olympics aren't things Presidents are expected to do, even if they are from the city. Considering the other 3 were there(right?), I think he'd take flack. I still think he was better off staying home for the loss(especially being the 1st one out), than being there for it. The White House misread this, but then again so did roughly everybody.
  5. Medicine ball throws or low squat jumping jacks that burns the legs, but my student athletes don't come to practice late without a very good excuse. When we practice in the fall it is at 6:00 AM and they know if they aren't awake we will run by and wake them along with everyone on the block. That sounds even ruder than wearing a hat in public That sounds more dangerous than throwing rocks at a poisonous snake.
  6. What city is the "greatest" has little to do with who wins the bid.
  7. Awkwardness is my boss laughing about this while the woman whose boyfriend is in construction gets more and more upset.
  8. AAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
  9. GO RIO
  10. I'm a bit surprised IU didn't receive any votes in either poll. I didn't expect them to be ranked, but with their only loss being a close road loss against a ranked team I thought they'd at least get noticed. You're surprised that a team that everyone thought would be awful isn't ranked because they barely beat EMU, WMU, and beat Akron?
  11. Oh right. I forgot. I guess I didn't play sports in high school and college. Pics or it's not true.
  12. They improved by 29 games the next year.
  13. Look at that Tigers roster. There are 6 players who've done anything of worth since then (Pena, Inge, Infante, Rodney, Bonderman, Young)

  15. Charlie Manuel's gotta be not in there somewhere right?
  16. Not a way and hell that we could get Ross and Uggle giving up almost nothing. You would have to slide in Cashner/Carpenter, and another one of the Cubs upper level prospects.. Well the players and/or the money could be tweaked to get the trade done. With Ross and Uggla being mentioned often as trade bait and Hermida possibly being DFA, it might not be as expensive (in players) as you think. Maybe make the deal smaller by taking out Uggla: Bradley + Fuld/Colvin + Berg/Patton/Stevens + $10 million for Ross + Hermida It still gives us a decent CF and a 4th OF, leaves Baker/fontenot at 2B, and gets rid of Bradley ( ).[/quote So in your opinion the trade value of Mike Fontenot is roughly Dan Uggla.
  17. At least we won't lose a draft pick when we sign Figgins to 5/70
  18. I do give Jim Tracey credit for getting the Rays to the world series last year.
  19. Am I alone in the thought that a team takes on the identity of its' coach? Are you discounting that entirely? Wouldn't the very White Sox team being discussed go against that thought?
  20. The quote looks like they'll try to find somebody else to bat 5th, not necessarily replace Bradley. I mean, they will replace Bradley, but that quote isn't really saying that. And this obsession lineup [expletive] is really [expletive] dumb.
  21. Why because you disagree with my opinion? As others have pointed out, putting in a sub for Bradley for 200+ AB certainly lowers the production from RF whereas Rowand's 500 AB covers most of the season. My original point was that Rowand was a better choice of bad contracts (Burrell, Perez, etc.) rather than paying Bradley's contract to play elsewhere. As a hitter: Cameron>Bradley>Rowand As a position player:Cameron>Rowand>>>>>Bradley No, because you expect people to take you seriously when posting stuff like... And for the record, Bradley is closer in defensive value to Rowand than Rowand is to Cameron. Except that they play different positions. Pretty sure he was taking position into account.
  22. Bradley's a better hitter than Cameron. Rowand is the worst of the 3 players, and you want to spend 14M more on him than we're paying Bradley. If you have to do a bad contract swap, you trade for Burrell and his 1 year commitment rather than locking yourself into an extra year of bad contract.
