Rothschild took heat when he sat back and let Dusty treat some guys recklessly, but given the fact that pitching has been the only consistently positive aspect of this team for the pact decade, Rothschild has been given credit. It's the hitting that has disappointed. The one thing he hasn't done is turn nobodies into studs, like Duncan. His specialty has been getting more out of guys with tremendous stuff but shaky performance. It's only been one season, but Randy Wells wasn't much of a somebody. You could argue the same with Glendon Rusch. I'd say the most impressive thing has been Ryan Dempster, competent starter.
