  1. Nobody's dismissing conference titles. Da Bum is using it as his sole measure of success in order to build up an above average program into something special.
  2. So what you're saying is that Carlos Silva should be shot into the sun.
  3. Rothschild took heat when he sat back and let Dusty treat some guys recklessly, but given the fact that pitching has been the only consistently positive aspect of this team for the pact decade, Rothschild has been given credit. It's the hitting that has disappointed. The one thing he hasn't done is turn nobodies into studs, like Duncan. His specialty has been getting more out of guys with tremendous stuff but shaky performance. It's only been one season, but Randy Wells wasn't much of a somebody. You could argue the same with Glendon Rusch. I'd say the most impressive thing has been Ryan Dempster, competent starter.
  4. This would be bad news for us, McClane is a meddler.
  5. Purdue isn't even the best team in the Big Ten this season. Nobody's saying Purdue is a garbage program, they're saying Bum is a raving lunatic who is choosing one stat that happens to support Purdue to try and put them up on a pedestal above other programs that are equal or better than them.
  6. I think USC should hire Oregeron as head coach.
  7. How is this a typical Pirate move?
  8. To be fair they do have 1 more than Penn State.
  9. 3 less Big Ten titles are an astronomical difference though.
  10. I don't get it? What does that say about Purdue in the Big Ten? I'll create a table that illustrates Purdue's place in the Big Ten. Big Ten Titles Chicago* 6 1924 Illinois 17 2005 Indiana 20 2002 Iowa 8 1979 Michigan 12 1986 Michigan State 11 2009 Minnesota 9 1982 Northwestern 2 1933 Ohio State 17 2007 Penn State 0 --- Purdue 21 1996 Wisconsin 17 2008 CubbieBum was trying to insist that IU and Purdue were head and shoulders over everyone else for program history. They're not. I'm pretty sure I never said they were head and shoulders above everyone else. All I said was they are historically the two best and that is a fact based on the table above. Historically means you take all years into account. Some didn't take it that way and that was why it turned into an argument. If you want to say Purdue has been mediocre in the 2000's I have no problem with that. They have been down for the last decade. So would you say Purdue is historically the best team in the conference?

They're not. Perhaps you didn't realize that Purdue has Robbie Humell.
  12. Don't be so sure, though it has little do do with any PED use. It's cause Cubs fans are stupid
  13. Guess Sammy has the real HR record now.
  14. I wish I thought of that.
  15. Our schedule is pretty much the opposite of Northwestern's. They have a brutal 1st half, but play nobody down the stretch. They could easily start 2-7 and finish in the top half the Big Ten
  16. Don't forget Hosak.
  17. A-Rod isn't comparable to the people they're talking about. Castro is.
  18. I'd hate it if our hitting coach did that. I hope Rudy is showing Aramis the finer points of drag bunting instead.
  19. Is Elston undersized? IU's strategy seemed to be to get physical with our bigs, which is why I assumed Capobianco started. This doesn't explain previous games, but that seems to be the prevailing thought on Illinois boards.
  20. I picked them to win it all
  21. The killjoys at the Hall are gonna love this. It's not Dawson choice, right? Didn't they change that rule that a player can't pick which team he wants to retire under? Ultimately it's the HOF's decision, but if it's not a slam dunk, the hall will consider a player's preference.
  22. It's a little scary that people are now referring to Castro in this fashion, as some sort of established known quantity too good to be a fair comparison for any other prospect. I believe they're referring to him as a prospect who wasn't thought of as much of anything besides toolsy who then becomes an elite prospect.
