  1. Law sounds very sure of him self there. There's no way Allen would actually slip to their pick in the 2nd right?
  2. Who specifically are you talking about? Obviously for some players, an uptick in velocity is fleeting but it does happen to many HS kids who do maintain the velocity. It's a natural aspect of a teenager growing and maturing. The other concern is players who are a bit older who have an uptick in velocity and then blow out their arm almost immediately (Rob Whitenack comes to mind). Perhaps he was referring to Hayden Simpson, 1st guy that jumped to mind when I read his quote. Simpson and Stinnett were the ones I was mostly thinking of.
  3. He's obviously made some significant changes, but he's also in Reading which is just about as good of a HR park as there is in the minors.
  4. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm really nervous about guys who have up ticks in velocity and stuff because it seems like they then get drafted and they're back to their old velocity and old stuff far too often.
  5. Page 6 - About halfway down. Thanks again. He seems interesting. Jeremiah Estrada seems to be holding up really well. I could like Austin Beck as an OF prospect, not there yet but that bat speed. If he made it to 27 some how I'd be thrilled. Metal bat or not those oppo wrist flicks are pretty crazy for a high school kid. He kind of reminds me a bit of Clint Frazier. With that said, pretty bummed Pearson threw 101 in front of those scouts. I really wanted him at #30 and I don't see how he'll realistically be there now.
  6. It's not often you see a pitcher go from impending 200M deal to not even sure you want to use the QO on them in a 12 month period.
  7. I am fairly shocked that Beck slid all the way to #26, I mean if he was there at 27 he'd have to be a no brainer right? I know he doesn't have a lot of history with the wood bats, but that opposite field power he shows is crazy for his age.
  8. Hiura goes 24 to Boston. That is pretty much exactly what I'm hoping for now that Hiura seems cemented in the top 15.
  9. Didn't they ask for something absurd like Javy +2 or 3 more good prospects in return for Odorizzi or Moore?
  10. Shoulder injury at the moment.
  11. Was that called third on Panik as generous as fancast made it look?
  12. I wouldn't mind renting Liriano and letting him go at the end of the year. Then When FA comes, screw giving Darvish 200M and Cueto doesn't look like he'll opt out. I'll take 2 of Cobb/Pineda/Lynn and call it a day.
  13. Absolutely, the peripherals are amazing and his back to using the pitch selection that gave him success before.
  14. As of right now, assuming no one slides like crazy(Hiura,Romero), I think I'd prefer the Cubs take two of the Tanner Houck,Nate Pearson,Nate Allen trio. Also, If Jeren Kendall continues to slide he'd be super intriguing at #27 even if contact issues are perhaps the biggest red flag for me.
  15. I'd be thrilled if they could find a way to land any of Kolby Allard,Brent Honeywell, Reynaldo Lopez, Cal Quantill,Mike Soroka etc. I mean one of Mitchell White,Walker Buehler or Yadier Alvarez has to be available right? The Dodgers have a dozen SP as is.
  16. For me, Ted Lilly was always the guy where if someone found a head in his freezer I wouldn't have been at all surprised.
  17. If ARI was willing to pay him down a bit to where he was 4/100ish I'd absolutely love to have him, much more than whatever type of contract we'd have to give Darvish or Cueto in the offseason to land them.
  18. In that timeframe he has a 3.59 FIP and 4.07 xFIP, which is explained by a .219 (!) BABIP against. Santana is fine as a guy to give you innings and I always like AL to NL transitions, but I don't think there's another gear there. He's not someone you want starting a playoff game any more than the Lackeys and Hammels of the world. He's decent at everything but not excellent at anything. Look at the quality of contact. His SOFT% is way up and his HARD and MED% are both down. His LD% is down from 21.7% to 13.6% so it's no wonder his babip is so low when people aren't making good contact against him. What has led to the drastic increase in poor contact? I have no idea, but based on the huge increase in Pull% there has to be something.
  19. I think Ervin Santana is perfect for what we need right now. A guy to buy us time until FA 2018/2019 or a starter from or a starter from the farm emerges. He's closer to a frontline starter than a back of the rotation guy some of you refer to him as. Since July 1st 2016 Santana has posted a 2.21ERA over 150 2/3IP to go with a 3.59FIP. The Twins have Berrios ready to go and Fernando Romero not too far off as well so I can't imagine they're all that interested in hanging onto Santana if he can bring them a few nice pieces.
  20. It's starting to feel like that month or so stretch before the ASB last year. Hitters can't hit when the pitchers pitch, pitchers get rocked when the hitters hit. The only consistently good aspect of the team right now is the bullpen.
  21. Wow I was just getting bummed out he had no chance to slide to us at 27 and then this happens.
  22. What do you mean? He has to clear waivers in order to go back to AAA correct? I can't imagine someone wouldn't take a chance on him.
  23. He's going to get snatched up right away.
  24. Just watching gamecast, but has Rondon thrown any sliders for strikes? According to game cast he's missed 10+ in a row.
  25. I wouldn't mind going with Ervin Santana, depending on the cost. He's been absolutely killing it since the ASB in 2016.
