  1. Yelich Harper Bryant Rizzo Schwarber Contreras Baez Russell Darvish,Lester,Quintana,Hendricks,Chatwood over/under 108 wins?
  2. I'm guessing we asked for Hand as well as one of the starters (because on of those starters alone for Javy doesn't seem like an asking price worth "balking" at). Dennis Lin, the Padres beat guy, made it sound we definitely wanted more than just the starter, and mentioned Hand too. I mentioned this a while ago, but I would seriously consider Baez for Hand + Gore/Quantrill. I know Gore is super far away, but he has all the makings of being really special. I guess this also means that the Luis Urias at SS experiment is not going so well.
  3. Nightengale brought up 4/110 is what we're evidently OK with on Jake. Again, its Nightengale, so whatever..... I am definitely not ok with 4/110 for Jake.
  4. The only way I believe this Russell/Almora/Montgomery stuff is if Gausman is coming back with Machado,.
  5. I"m honestly not even sure Arrieta is getting 100M anymore based on how this market is shaping up. 4/100 is about the most I could see someone shelling out.
  6. The knee surgeries don't bother anyone? Sure he's young, but with his bigger frame at SS and the wear and tear already on his knees I feel much less confident in his future than Harper's.
  7. I feel like the Dodgers' needs are definitely more pitching related than bat. Even if they can resign Kershaw they're still going to have to go after an arm like Keuchel.
  8. Losing 4 Years of Russell, for 1 year of Machado and then a 300+M FA contract in 2019, vs keeping 4 years of Russell and spending 350-400M on Harper. Pretty much a no brainer from my side.
  9. Sandy Alcantara, their #4 prospect is one of the guys going.
  10. God I want Yelich and then Harper on this team. That line up would be an absolute monster. Throw Happ,Almora,Alzolay and Ademan at them.
  11. I'd really love to see them lose 2 of Flaherty,Alcantara,Hicks,Gomber,Hudson or Gallen in this deal.
  12. I seriously would have been in the corner in fetal position clutching a bottle of whatever was close
  13. Damn, if Yelich is substantially more than that then we're definitely out.
  14. IF Detroit hadn't been so unrealistic and demanded Baez I'd agree.
  15. Why do people hate having elite defense up the middle? Trading Russell is a defensive downgrade at SS and whoever replaces Baez at 2B is a downgrade there as well. You don't sign Chatwood and then weaken the infield defense like that.
  16. I irrationally don't want to move Baez at all. I enjoy it far too much when other team's fans hate both Baez and Contreras for basically everything they do. It's nice to be on the positive end of that after so many years.
  17. So we're giving up a very good young player and eating an awful contract? Apparently that is his definition of "Win win".
  18. I think it's more that the Cubs want to get his deal done so they can move on, but Cobb wants to explore the market a little more. If reports are right he's getting more attention than any other FA starter left on the market.
  19. I really hope you're wrong unless someone really likes Happ a whole lot.
  20. With the Yankees in heavy on Cobb, I get the feeling that the days of hoping for 4/48 or even 4/60 are long gone and we're probably looking at something like 5/85 or 4/70 now.
  21. So you figure if things go really well 2M on Rene Rivera,10M on Morrow, 8M on Reed, does that even leave enough to go after Cobb and still have Harper money next year?
  22. All 2nd hand [tweet] [/tweet] Not as positive as the second hand comment, but I'll take take it.
  23. I'm pretty happy with this signing as long as the the other pitcher added is at least of Cobb quality.
  24. Agreed, if Ohtani happens to not work out where they have to grab Cobb and someone else, Mikolas was neck and neck with Chatwood for me.
  25. I just hope Theo and crew is completely thorough on all the Japanese customs. It would make a very positive impression if they were able to get through a dinner properly and avoided all the little snafus that most people don't know about. Drinking procedure included. Just for example, in Japan the number 4 is bad luck because it spelled "Shi" and to die in Japanese is "Shinu". Most buildings will skip the 4th floor etc.
