Following acquisitions of Verlander and Gerrit Cole, the Astros are looking pretty full in their rotation these days; specially with elite prospect Forest Whitley sitting in AA and not far off from the rotation. With that said, what does it take to land Francis Martes? He's a year off of being a top 30 prospect in the game with 2 plus pitches and a third above average. It looks like he's going to the pen again this year in lieu of putting him in the rotation. It's pretty clear he's never going to get a shot in Houston so I'd love to give him his shot in Chicago.

Can't say I'm real happy with how this is playing out because for me giving Darvish that 5th year over going a 4th year with Cobb is a no brainer.

RHP Mike Feliz also heading to Pittsburgh. Moran is the Astros #5 prospect CF Jason Martin their #15 prospect is supposed fourth piece People are going to disagree, but I think it was a nice return for Pittsburgh. They didn't get star power but they got 3 guys who will provide long term cheap value and are ready to play immediately.

Unless the Cubs are able to snag Darvish, it's going to be real disappointing they couldn't get Reed at that price and duration.

It really is. The only benefit is now that we only have like 5 weeks until pitchers and catchers there's almost going to have to be a constant flurry of moves starting soon.

I just can't get myself to want Jake back unless his contract is way below the supposed market value. I mean like 3/60, because even at 4/90 or something along those lines I just have zero interest. I hope the Cubs feel the same, because if that 4/112 rumor is true I'm going to vomit.

I like KC's return. I think Trevor Oaks is going to be a nice mid/back end starter.

I'm guessing we asked for Hand as well as one of the starters (because on of those starters alone for Javy doesn't seem like an asking price worth "balking" at). Dennis Lin, the Padres beat guy, made it sound we definitely wanted more than just the starter, and mentioned Hand too. I mentioned this a while ago, but I would seriously consider Baez for Hand + Gore/Quantrill. I know Gore is super far away, but he has all the makings of being really special. I guess this also means that the Luis Urias at SS experiment is not going so well.

Nightengale brought up 4/110 is what we're evidently OK with on Jake. Again, its Nightengale, so whatever..... I am definitely not ok with 4/110 for Jake.

I"m honestly not even sure Arrieta is getting 100M anymore based on how this market is shaping up. 4/100 is about the most I could see someone shelling out.

The knee surgeries don't bother anyone? Sure he's young, but with his bigger frame at SS and the wear and tear already on his knees I feel much less confident in his future than Harper's.

I feel like the Dodgers' needs are definitely more pitching related than bat. Even if they can resign Kershaw they're still going to have to go after an arm like Keuchel.

Losing 4 Years of Russell, for 1 year of Machado and then a 300+M FA contract in 2019, vs keeping 4 years of Russell and spending 350-400M on Harper. Pretty much a no brainer from my side.

God I want Yelich and then Harper on this team. That line up would be an absolute monster. Throw Happ,Almora,Alzolay and Ademan at them.

IF Detroit hadn't been so unrealistic and demanded Baez I'd agree.

Why do people hate having elite defense up the middle? Trading Russell is a defensive downgrade at SS and whoever replaces Baez at 2B is a downgrade there as well. You don't sign Chatwood and then weaken the infield defense like that.
