  1. Just be glad you're not playing me this week. After having the lowest point total in the league this year, my team has finally woken up when it doesn't count and I have over 300 points, even though I didn't even look at my lineup. :D
  2. I'm not sure I agree, since this is a keeper league. If the focus was only on this year I'd definitely agree, but from a keeper perspective I think Palmer has infinitely more value than Favre, since Favre is likely to retire at the end of this year.
  3. I do have the book, and the ratings are based only on the players' Cubs careers. His 3B rankings are: #1--Stan Hack; #2--Bill Madlock; #3--Aramis Ramirez; #4--Ned Williamson; #5--Woody English. A couple of other lists from the book I found interesting. Top 5 teams: #1--1969; #2--1906; #3--1929; #4--1945; #5--2003. Top 5 managers: #1--Leo Durocher; #2--Don Zimmer; #3--Cap Anson; #4--Dusty Baker :pukel: #5--Charlie Grimm.
  4. Good luck with the new league in Texas. On the plus side, I'll no longer be the rookie in the league. :D
  5. Many thanks to Len for participating. Hopefully he'll post here from time to time as his schedule allows.
  6. This time the Hoosiers had the right idea for hiring a coach: Hire a proven winner from the MAC rather than recycling a failed major college coach (DiNardo).
  7. How about NSBB Minor League Statistician? :D
  8. Don't look now, but Indiana is 3-0 and half way to bowl eligibility. \:D/ Of course, now they have to actually start playing against real teams.
  9. Thanks to the broadcasters, players, and others who have contributed to this board, following the minor league teams has been more enjoyable than usual this year. It definitely has helped to fill the void left by the major league team this year.
  10. Grr. So much for my interest in baseball this year (until the off-season begins). Oh well, it was a great season anyway (better than anybody else in the organization, including the major league team).
  11. You don’t know much about bears, do you sonny? I hibernate in a cave, like all bears do. Sheesh!Come on, Ribbee, at least give me SOME credit. Unlike TruffleShuffle, at least I've HEARD of hibernation. Duh, ever hear of a thing called hibernation? Plus, I’m only four years old. Even though that’s 11 in bear years (a bear can live 21-33 years), I don’t have a wife or kids yet. Give me a break!
  12. Um, duh, I can't believe I forgot the Chiefs have Priest Holmes as the starter.
  13. North Carolina abstains. Courteously. (That's a reference from the movie 1776, for those not familiar with it.)
  14. I'd definitely start Vick. Normally, based on the matchups, I'd probably say Johnson at RB (Jones will, hopefully, have a tough time against the Bears' D). However, Johnson may be distracted as a result of his arrest earlier this week.
  15. That game is being telecast on ESPN Classic. For some reason I don't normally think of IU-UK football and "classic" in the same breath. :D
  16. The pitching matchup is overwhelmingly in the Jaxx favor.
  17. Sounds like something somebody who's trading for first round draft choices would say. :D
  18. Hilarious. Ribbee is definitely a feisty bear. :D
  19. Hmm, I wonder who he might be playing against this week.
  20. Lovie Smith is the Anti-Dusty. Playing the best players regardless of experience.....what a novel concept.
  21. I don't expect him to win the award, but I think Dempster deserves some consideration. After missing most of last year following Tommy John surgery he has turned into an outstanding closer.
  22. I'd probably be concerned if I thought the publicity would only bring bad posters. If it brings a mix, we can weed out the rotten apples. The result would be a better site because we'd have the new good posters who might otherwise know about the site. Besides, Modzilla is chomping at the bit for some new trolls to slay anyway.
  23. I was hoping for a win tonight, of course, but splitting in Jacksonville favors the Jaxx since they have home field advantage for the series. The Suns now have to win two of three at West Tenn to win the series. Ain't gonna happen.
  24. Dusty's getting the team back up close to .500 shows such great managerial skills, he deserves a lifetime contract.
  25. Winning Game 1 on the road against the opponent's best pitcher is always huge. I smell championship.
