  1. Another reminder. The response has been underwhelming so far.
  2. I interpreted the comments to mean they want him to get sone at-bats to shake off the rust heading into the Southern League playoffs. Hopefully that's not just wishful thinking. Maybe you can ask Ron to clarify that on Friday.
  3. Looks like I'll have one more start than I thought (still one fewer than my opponent). Hampton went back on the DL for the Braves (surprise, surprise), so Sosa is moving back into the rotation. Since his start is against the Cubs tomorrow, however, I hope he gets torched. :D
  4. Are you using all lower case? The password is case-sensitive.
  5. Thanks for answering our questions. The participation we're receiving from players in the Cubs system is great. Have the Cubs given you any indication of whether they see your major league future as a starter or reliever? Do you have a preference one way or the other?
  6. Thanks for answering questions and helping make this the best Cubs site on the net. Do you have any goals with respect to progression through the Cubs organization and timetable for making the major leagues? Has your progression pleased you to this point?
  7. I have 7 starts scheduled (2 each for Lowry and Millwood). I don't have any more starts scheduled until Thursday; Schilling, Williams, and Lopez are all scheduled to start then. Regardless of which of us is ahead after the pitching scoring adjustments, it looks like we'll have the top two scores in the league after the first day of the week.
  8. I HATE Felipe Alou. With the Giants beating the Phillies 5-0 tonight, he removes Lowry after 8 2/3 innings, denying him (and me) a complete game shutout. Abuck, if I lose to HBC by a few points (like the one week I lost by less than one point), and that costs you a playoff spot, Alou is your scapegoat.
  9. Failing to listen to that game should be grounds for automatic banning from NSBB. :D Now that I said that, watch me lose my Internet connection.
  10. That's probably happened a lot this year.
  11. I'm out for blood this week after getting blitzed by over 130 points last week.
  12. Vancouver crushed Boise, 12-1. Hagerty pitched 1/3 of an inning for Boise, giving up one hit, two walks, three runs (all earned), and three wild pitches. His ERA is now up to 29.84.
  13. Thanks for taking our questions. Did you give any consideration to signing with the Cubs when previously drafted in 2003, or were you completely committed to returning to Stanford for your senior season? Do you think you made the right decision in hindsight?
  14. Maybe Sing is planning to break the record during the NSBB broadcast next Friday night. That would make it some night (not that I'm actually wishing him to go a week before waking Aunt Florence :D ).
  15. According to minorleaguebaseball.com, he was President from 1976 to 1978.
  16. Interesting that Daytona and West Tenn both just set attendance records, but with completely different connotations.
  17. If I recall, he was also the President of minor league baseball at one time.
  18. On the other hand, Matt Murton does a session here, and that propels him to the show. :D
  19. For selfish reasons I actually would like to have a couple playoff games played at Carolina (the booming metropolis of Zebulon). However, I won't complain about an extra home game as long as there's at least one game in Carolina I can go to.
  20. It may start feeling more strange in the future when players you've broadcast and interviewed make it to the majors with the Cubs and play against the Cardinals. :D
  21. Only four people in each contest so far. Come join the fun.
  22. 87 year old former major league manager Bobby Bragan managed a game today for the Ft. Worth Cats in the independent Central League, thus becoming the oldest person in history to manage a professional baseball game. He was ejected in the third inning after one of his players was ejected (he went out and asked why the player was ejected, the umpire said it was because the player said the umpire was calling a bad game, and Bragan said he agreed with the player).
  23. Does it ever feel strange being a Cardinals fan yet broadcasting games for their biggest rival's affiliate and contributing to their biggest rival's best web site? :D
  24. Thanks for taking our questions. Interacting with players in the Cubs organization in this manner is a large part of what makes this the best Cubs site. As JC mentioned in an earlier post, first base for the Cubs is currently in Derrek Lee's capable hands. Has there been any talk of you moving to another position, such as corner OF, in order to increase your chances of having a starting job with the Cubs in a few years?
  25. I've created NSBB leagues on Yahoo for both Survival Football and College Football Pick'em. Signup information is as follows: Survival Football League ID #: 7516 Password: NSBB College Football Pick'em League ID #: 10589 Password: NSBB For those not familiar with Survival Football, you pick one NFL team to win each week. If your team wins, you remain in the game. If your team loses, you're voted off the island. The catch is that you can only pick a team once in the entire game. The game ends once there is only one contestant still alive. In the event all remaining contestants are eliminated the same week, they are co-champions; there are no tiebreakers. If the game ends with several weeks remaining in the NFL season the game can be reset and we can start off fresh with another round (that happened in our league last year).
