    I wonder who Chris was referring to when he made his comment about "no offense to the NSBB people in North Carolina" when talking about getting the extra home playoff game during the pregame show (before Ron chastized him for stealing Ron's line about the "booming metropolis of Zebulon"). :D

    I'll survive if that happens. If, on the otherhand, the Jaxx LOSE the series without playing a game in Zebulon, that's another story. Ugh, I'll forget you typed that. That wasn't me; that was the gremlins that got in my computer. :D

    The college contest begins with this Saturday's games, so not much time left to join and get your picks in (I believe you can still join after the contest begins, but you will be in a hole). Still another week to go before the pro games begin.

    After two weeks of losing by over 100 points despite being in the top half of the league in scoring, my players got frustrated and decided not to even bother trying if they were going to get smoked anyway. Therefore I'm back to my accustomed position from earlier in the year, at the bottom in scoring.

    I didn't either, but it was mentioned on the local news tonight. They're currently playing in Jacksonville; their game last night was suspended due to rain, and they have one more game scheduled in Jacksonville today. After that they're done until the playoffs. Also, they'll be less than full strength for the playoffs. Their best player (Jeremy Hermida) was called up by the Marlins yesterday.

    Carolina (who has clinched the other North Division playoff spot) has had their final series of the season (at Mississippi) cancelled because of the hurricane. The Djaxx therefore control their own destiny with respect to winning both halves of the season and getting the extra home playoff game.

    DeJesus has a separated shoulder, so I moved him to my reserve list (my DL spots are already used up), activated Murton from my minor league roster and put him in the OF, and released Patterson to make room for DeJesus on the reserve list. I hated to give up on Patterson when he was my first round draft pick (and I earlier turned down an offer to trade him), but his performance this year hasn't earned him a spot as one of my keepers for next year anyway.

    Uh-oh. We can't have any more of this foolishness if he ever wants to play for the Cubs.

    The league rules Juan sent me when I joined the league says 3 teams from each division, and the current commissioner's message seems to suggest it's 3.

    Yep; 243.65 for each team. And I outscored NSBB this week. \:D/ (Too bad I wasn't actually playing him.)

    I believe it's top 3, not 4 (not that it affects my team either way).

    I think it's Dusty's fault more than Rothschild's. Dusty is the one who kept stubbornly using him as a LOOGY when the facts clearly showed he's much better against right-handed hitters.

    I don't like this country. You're entitled to your opinion, but your screen name is offensive to those of us who do love the country despite its faults. This is a baseball board, not a political board. Your screen name is completely out of place here. Change it.

    Blasko is the one who went to Purdue I believe. Yes, it was Blasko. Nolasco signed with the Cubs right out of high school.

    Looks like I'll wind up with the 4th or 5th highest point total of the week (depending on overnight adjustments; I'm currently a fraction of a point behind NSBB for 4th highest score but have a QS from Lowry), yet still lose by more than 100 points. This is the second week in a row this has happened. :(

    Tim puts filters on for the most common condescending names, not all of them (it wouldn't be possible to filter out every demeaning nickname). Someone recently asked the same question with respect to referring to MacPhail as MacPhail. More people were using demeaning nicknames for Corey than for Hollandsworth or MacPhail, so that's what he turned word censors on for. If more people start using demeaning nicknames for Hollandsworth and MacPhail he'll probably turn on the word censors for them as well. The reason for this is that it is possible to criticize players and other personnel without resorting to the juvenile tactics of using demeaning nicknames.

    Ah, the joys of being way out of contention and not having to be concerned about such issues. :D Not really; I'd much rather be in contention and worried about tie-breakers.
