  4. http://www.diamondjaxx.com/images/players/BDickerson.jpg Bobby Dickerson, Manager for the 2005 Southern League First Half Champion West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx, has graciously agreed to answer questions from posters on NSBB! If you would like to send a comment to Bobby, or if you would like to ask Bobby a question, feel free to post it here. I will allow the questions/comments to be posted until August 5th at midnight. Once Bobby has had an opportunity to answer them, the responses will be posted. From the Jaxx website: Quote: Bobby Dickerson is entering his fourth season as the manager of the Diamond Jaxx. At the age of thirty-nine, he has had a successful six-year managerial career, guiding his teams to the post-season four times. Dickerson’s playing career began in 1987 with the New York Yankees, who drafted him out of Nicholls State University. He played seven seasons in the Yankees and Orioles systems, and in 1993 was named player/coach with the Orioles’ AAA team in Rochester. After the 1993 season Dickerson retired as a player and accepted a position as the Orioles’ minor league infield instructor. He continued in that role until 1997, and was also the manager of the Orioles’ Rookie League team in Bluefield during the 1996 and 1997 seasons. During his stint in Bluefield, Dickerson led his teams to back-to-back Appalachian league championships. Dickerson joined the Arizona Diamondbacks organization in 1998, where he was worked as the infield coordinator for two seasons. In 2000, the Diamondbacks named him the manager of their AA club, the El Paso Diablos. After leading the Diablos to the post-season, the Diamondbacks moved Dickerson back to the infield coordinator’s position. Bobby and his wife Christine have two children, Ashley and Dustin. The Dickerson family makes their home in Laurel, Mississippi. This session will be coordinated as in accordance with The NSBB Q & A Guidelines Thank you to Bobby for taking the time to interact with us on such an up close and personal level! I encourage everyone to visit the official website of the West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx. In addition, thank you to all of you for making NSBB such a wonderful community!
  5. Living in North Carolina, I hear about Help Ron?? all the time.
  6. No Nomar in Ft. Wayne. He's supposed to stay with Peoria through tonight, then go to Chicago tomorrow to meet with Cubs' personnel and discuss the next step. He may then report to another team (speculation is West Tenn) on Saturday. The plan seems to be for him to play with teams that are playing at home.
  7. It did just happen within the past couple of weeks. He was called up to Durham (Tampa Bay's AAA team).
  8. Welcome to NSBB. It's great to have another of the minor league broadcasters on board. Eric Patterson has been tearing it up at Peoria. Has there been any talk that you're aware of about him being promoted to Daytona? Would you like to see him in Daytona this year, or do you think he'd be better served by finishing out the year in Peoria?
  9. As long as they're ahead of the Cubs in the standings the Cubs are chasing them. Just because they're slumping now doesn't necessarily mean they can't right themselves and go on another hot streak. The Cubs themselves are proof of that; they've had a couple of bad stretches this year and managed to rebound.
  10. JC must stand for "Jinxing Cliff." 6 hits and 5 earned runs in 3 innings pitched today.
  11. I don't remember if Wood is scheduled to throw again today, but I'm guessing they're waiting to as close to game time as possible to see how he feels and if there's much chance of him making his next scheduled start. If there's a realistic chance of him making his next start I expect Mitre to be sent down. If it looks like he'll miss his next start too I'd expect him to go on the 15-day DL backdated to the day after his last start.
  12. I don't know where that statement came from. He wasn't ranke among this year's top 30 prospects by BA. Perhaps Fleita was referring to a September callup. He didn't say Greenberg would be back with the Cubs immediately.
  13. In the trib article, they compared this injury to what Matt Morris went through last year. Morris had shoulder surgery on his labrum in December, and started the year on the DL as the Cards could go with a 4-man rotation early. We could only hope Kerry could come back as early and be as effective as Morris has. If Wood has surgery earlier than Morris did, such as soon as the Cubs' season ends (after the World Series :D ), he might be recovered earlier than Morris and might not need to miss any of the season.
  14. Hagerty pitched the 9th inning for Boise. He gave up 1 hit, 1 walk, 1 strikeout, 1 wild pitch, and perhaps most importantly, no runs and no hit batters. His ERA is now down to 21.60.
  15. That sarcasm is uncalled for. It doesn't take talking to them to infer that they want to stay in Chicago. The fact that Sarah is from the Chicago area, plus the fact that they bought a house in the area within the past couple of years, would tend to suggest that they want to stay in Chicago.
  16. Dusty was talking about U.L. Washington, who played at the same time as Dusty (70s and 80s) and also chewed on a toothpick. :D
  17. The Cubs decided to break up the core of the Durocher era team when it became evident that group wasn't going to win a championship (most of the key players were past their prime by then). In addition to Santo, the Cubs also traded Billy Williams, Fergie Jenkins, Ken Holtzman, Glenn Beckert, and Don Kessinger, among others, within a period of a couple of years.
  18. I believe San Diego claimed him. I don't recall what's happened to him since then.
  19. According to my DirecTV on-screen programming guide, the ceremonies will be televised beginning 1:30 P.M. Eastern time on ESPN Classic. For DirecTV customers outside the Chicago area I think there is an inexpensive way to watch the programming on CSN. Subscribe to the Sports Pack, and you should be able to see the programs (since they're not live game broadcasts they shouldn't be blacked out). Then, if you cancel the subscription the next day you'd only be charged for one day. I know that works; I did it once in the past. Monthly subscriptions are prorated for partial months, even if only one day.
  20. Seems to me that he had trouble pronouncing EASY names at times. :D
  21. Not encouraging if you were hoping for something...unless you belive Crasnik is subject to the "Gammons Rule of Rumors". But are they getting Austin Kearns?
  22. Then perhaps people shouldn't put Kerry Wood trade scenarios in threads titled "Kerry Wood to miss 1-2 starts." I agree they would be more appropriate for the Transactions forum, but it's a natural extension of the subject of this thread for somebody to be frustrated over him missing more time and suggesting it's time to trade him. I don't think it's likely that he'll be traded, and I hope he isn't, but others are certainly welcome to suggest that they think he should be traded.
  23. Looks like Aunt Florence was busy tonight. :D
