  1. Not after today's outing. It looks like he's coming around.
  2. I'll also be 2-2 but after starting 0-2.
  3. Me: Moyer pitching a no-hitter after 6 innings. Vance: Maholm stinking up the joint and only lasting 4 innings. With the lead I already have this should easily seal the deal. In fact, I've at least temporarily regained the high score for the week in the entire league (Moyer could ensure it stays that way if the current trend continues :D ).
  4. There's no way someone can say a player will never be traded. Anything can happen in the future. samardzija has a no trade clause and a huge contract. there's like 0.000000000001% chance of him being traded within the next 8 years. Forgot about the NTC; that does make it unlikely that he'd be traded during the duration of the contract. However, he certainly could be traded after that, so I still disagree with your comment that there's almost no chance he'll ever be traded.
  5. Making a move to replace an injured player has always been allowed. I think you're fine with adding Pinto.
  6. Cheap, no. Careless, yes.
  7. Pitch him. Reportedly he's already left Iowa and rejoined the Cubs to get some side work with Rothschild in. What this may change is that they may send down a pitcher rather than a position player; with two upcoming days off and the Cubs' starters going deep into the games (including Z finally) they may not need to carry 12 pitchers for now.
  8. What a tragedy. I don't like the Cardinals, but I always feel sorry whenever something like this happens. It seems like whenever the Cardinals have a tragedy it's right before a Cubs game.
  9. Or a phantom injury to make room on the roster for Guzman without having to send someone down.
  10. This was mentioned in the Minor League forum, but outfielder Chris Walker was just promoted from Tennessee to Iowa. This may be a sign that the Cubs aren't planning to send any outfielder down, thus creating an outfielder vacancy at Iowa.
  11. It would seem that by moving Walker to AAA, Pie will not be the one sent back down on Tuesday. That's my thinking. I think they kept Walker at AA until they made a decision on Pie, rather than promoting him to AAA and then sending him back down a week later. In fact, it may be a sign that the Cubs aren't planning to send any outfielder down.
  12. There's no way someone can say a player will never be traded. Anything can happen in the future. Good thing he didn't say that. Seriously, do you even read the things you reply to? He said there's almost no chance Samardzija will be traded, and I'm saying there's no way one can say that so early in his career. Yes, I did read his post; I just left the word "almost" out of my reply.
  13. Hopefully Veal can start putting it together.
  14. Guzman is reporting to the Cubs early to get some sidework in, so it makes sense that Iowa would deactivate him.
  15. Cherry pie. :D http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_457122.jpghttp://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_429712.jpg
  16. But the Bears took him at 31, not 32. Huge difference. :D
  17. I lead Vance by over 35 points, with one start remaining for each of us. I don't think that even the almighty Kent can save him. :D I'll be joining you at 2-2 and ahead on total points, even though you edged me out in our matchup. Luckily you caught me during my worst week of the season so far (only five starts due to injury and weather). Who woulda thunk it based on the last two years? Interestingly, the team with the highest point total in the league this week going into Sunday is the team I crushed by over 100 points last week. Looks like I lit a fire under them. It's fun actually being competitive for a change. :D
  18. I hear he's feeling the same mysterious back ailment that Miller has. :D
  19. There's no way someone can say a player will never be traded. Anything can happen in the future.
  20. Three wins in a row! Z finally pitching like Z. Reports of the Cubs' demise less than a month into the season are greatly exaggerated (apologies to Mark Twain, I believe it was).
  21. Hopefully Jones will be traded. If not, sending Cedeno down is the only move that makes sense to me.
  22. I bribed Juan to make sure you can't access your team until our matchup this week is over.
  23. Um, yes, I think he's ready. :D
