  1. I'm totally for it. There already is an existing Chicken Little thread that could be used for that purpose. Premium Non-premium
  2. Does it look to you like Lilly, Marquis, and Hill have an incompetent pitching coach? Because they have the same pitching coach Zambrano has.
  3. It could have been worse. Washburn could have pitched the 9th and got a complete game and shutout (he didn't get credit for a shutout in Roadkill because he didn't finish the game) and Webb could have pitched a shutout (the only run he gave up ame on the second out in the 9th). So I nearly had two complete game shutouts. Two of our pitchers (Rodriguez and Davis) go head to head against each other tonight. Your one hope is that you need to pray for something like a 15-0 Astros win. You also need to hope for Reyes to stink, but that's certainly within the realm of possibility; he's done that a few times. So I'd say things look bleak, but not completely hopeless, for you.
  4. After overnight deductions I have a 22.55 point lead plus a one pitching start advantage remaining. Looks like the last unbeaten team in the league is going down. \:D/ The rest of the East can thank me any time. :D
  5. They're emulating the Cubs from earlier this week. :D
  6. I just sent you a PM about a possible deal.
  7. Webb came THISclose to a complete game shutout. The only run he gave up came on the second out in the bottom of the 9th. At least he did get a complete game.
  8. Very good outing for Gallagher so far. =D>
  9. For the time being I have taken the lead over HBC. Brandon Webb seems to have remembered that he's a Cy Young Award pitcher (3-hit shutout through 5 innings). I have Washburn and he has Arroyo going later tonight. He's had three single-digit starts this week (Zambrano, Harang, Rodriguez), and after tonight I have two remaining starts to his one, so I think I have a good chance of giving him his first taste of defeat this year.
  10. I have a hunch that the Reds may be one of the 10 teams Eyre refuses a trade to under his limited NTC. Otherwise, considering the love the Reds have for mediocre relievers, they'd likely do it.
  11. BOO! Seattle put Jeff Weaver on the DL. :(
  12. Maybe we should try to put one over on the Reds and see if their GM is too dumb to notice the difference. :D
  13. I'm right behind you, at #35 with 174 ESPN. Jeff Weaver is still being very good to me. I need Lew Ford and Podsednik to get back into action and being their usual sucky selves.
  14. No way Jose.
  15. I'm not sure if this has been mentioned in another thread, but the current poll on the MiLB.com home page is for April Pitcher of the Month. Mark Holliman is one of the choices and he is currently slightly ahead of Tim Lincecum, 37% to 35%. Nobody else has over 8%.
  16. I totally disagree.I totally disagree with your disagreement. :D
  17. Moises should become a Brewer. :D
  18. But it will take him awhile to get accustomed to his new surroundings, so he won't be very productive at least until next week. :D
  19. This seems to be the night for bumping Marquis-related threads. :D
  20. First game I attended. Cubs lost, but exciting game. http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/1970/B06230CHN1970.htm
  21. kevin roberson and rey sanchez may disagree with you If it were just one year later (and therefore within the 25-year window), Ivan Dejesus' 1981 season (.194 average in over 400 ABs) would easily take the dishonors at SS.
  22. Checking everyone is not practical. It seems like they are targeting former or current Orioles. Do you think there is a slight possibility that there may be a reason (or leads) to substantiate why they are targeting Palmeiro, Grimsley, Sosa, Tejada, Tatis and Jerry Hairston, Jr.? Oddly enough, four of those six played in Texas, too. And three of those four also played for Chicago. Maybe there's something other than players being traded between the Cubs and Baltimore. :D
  23. You chose the wrong Ortiz. I have Russ Ortiz as my second pitcher, and he has positive 19. I have Podsednik on my team as well, along with Lew Ford (both zero points). If not for those two black holes I might be in the top 10 nationally.
  24. I'm now #32 nationally with 167 ESPN, 61 of them from Jeff Weaver. He's currently the top pitcher on the Hacking Mass All-Star team (in fact, the highest scoring player at any position by over 10 points). And #1 (by far) for pitchers on the most popular list is none other than one Jason Marquis, sitting with -30 ESPN (the second most pitcher, picked less than half as often as Marquis, is Gil Meche, who has an even larger negative total).
  25. I managed to pick him up as an undrafted free agent in two other leagues I'm in.
