  1. But in this case, that's because Eyre was on the mound when the lead was lost. What if Dempster stayed in the whole time? I still don't think it would be a blown save. You can't really blow something you don't have in the first place. It would have just been a loss, I believe.
  2. So that excuses Dempster? This bullpen sucks! It shouldn't even of come down to Eyre. No, I didn't mean that. Dempster is just as much (if not more) to blame for this loss. But over the course of the season Dempster has generally been solid and Eyre has been anything but.

I hear Rich Harden is the next Mark Prior! The 2003 model, or the 2006/2007? :D
  4. A manager using Eyre with the game on the line is a major problem. Lou should certainly know by now that Eyrehead is NEVER, EVER TO BE TRUSTED WITH THE GAME ON THE LINE.
  5. I have Dempster and Sheets on one team and Linecum and Guzman on another. By all rights I should have three wins today (Guzman, Sheets, and Linecum), but I only got one. :(
  6. Maybe he was yanked because he just got called up to the Cubs to replace Eyre.
  7. What, a reference to Tony Danza but not Bruce Springsteen? [-X
  8. If Murton was the everyday OF'er and one of Ward/Floyd had not been signed, it would be a move that I could see occur. Right now, never. Yeah, I could see that. But like you said, there is no place on this team right now as currently destructed. Fixed. :D

Wow, I am being thoroughly trounced this week. :x
  10. K'd the side vs. the Brewers. FTW, IIRC Actually Farnsworth got the win and Wellemeyer got the save.
  11. If he ever needs TJS maybe he can pitch left-handed during his recovery year so he doesn't have to miss the season. :D
  12. Watch your language. The use of vulgarity is prohibited on this board, and as has been pointed out many times in the past, the use of a character such as an asterisk to get around the word censors is considered the same as typing the word.
  13. I believe the settings currently require Tim to activate new members. It was set that way to prevent bots from registering. I think the appropriate forum for this would be Site Suggestions, so I'll more it there. It may get lost in the crowd in Social.
  14. any relation to Ray?? The Mets announcers on last night's telecast wondered the same thing, but they didn't know.
  15. Even if that meant the demise of NSBB? :D

That's because your pitchers are relaxing again now that they're not playing me. :D
  17. I haven't seen anything about that (cubs.com shows a 41-man 40-man roster at the moment). My guess is Wood to the 60-day DL.
  18. I will probably go to one or both of their home games on May 23 and 24 (when they return home from the current road trip). I'm taking a short vacation to the Smokies next week and staying in Gatlinburg, which isn't very far from Sevierville. I'll see more of them this summer when they visit the booming metropolis of Zebulon, NC (as Ron refers to it).
  19. It is. You can verify it by looking up the box score on retrosheet.org.

I'm glad you no longer have him. It looks like I need all the help I can get this week (your losing a Tejada start may help some).
  21. I can't believe the Detroit Lions aren't getting any love as the worst-run team.
  22. If it were "Soriano's walks", the correct grammar would be "Have" because the noun receiving the action would be "walks". Because it was written as "Soriano's lack of walks", the sentence receiving the attention is "lack of walks", which is referring collectively to the walks not taken by Soriano, making "Has" the appropriate grammar to go with a collective noun. Beat you to it. :P
  23. No, it's right. "Lack" is a singular noun, therefore the singular "has" (rather than the plural "have") is the correct matching. Even though "walks" is plural, because it is part of a preposition that's not what has vs. have is supposed to agree with.
