  1. It probably won't be Hendry's decision, because Hendry will most certainly be out when a new owner takes over. And the new GM may well want a different manager.
  2. It may be ridiculous, but I wouldn't expect anything less from Bonds. Then his manager should insist that he play rather than leaving the decision up to Barroids. The manager decides who plays and when, not the players.
  3. People keep saying this and it's not true. Neifi was dumped last year. Latroy was dumped. Remlinger was dumped. Borowski was dumped. Matt Lawton was dumped a month after he came here. Perhaps, but several of those were dumps that came long after it was painfully obvious that it was necessary. And it's now long after it was painfully obvious that it's necessary to get rid of Eyre.
  4. With the season nearly two months old I think it's interesting to look at this again. We now know the answer is Eyre, and he wasn't even an option in this poll. Izturis was a good pick; Marquis has been anything but a whipping boy this year.
  5. It sounds like you're describing Angel Guzman (since you referred to pitching). They're talking about a different Guzman (I don't recall who, but he's a position player since they're referring to his hitting).
  6. Then it's McDonough's duty to order Hendry to cut him. Eyre must go, period.
  7. Eyre must go immediately without having a chance to blow even one more game. To hell with his contract; Hendry made a huge mistake and now he must take the consequenses, which is to simply eat the contract.
  8. Another loss due to Lou's inexcusable use of Eyre (even though Marshall gets charged with the loss). The Cubs' rally in the 9th evens up the runs Marshall allowed, but the 2 given up by Eyre decided the game. Get Eyre the hell out of Chicago before one more game is played. I don't care about his contract; he must go immediately.
  9. You shouldn't have to. If you're logged in it will show your score on the first page. It shows the top scores, then you and those around you, and finally the bottom scores. Doesn't show that for me, just the top and the bottom. BalsaWoodKeyboard is now #10 overall. I also see just the top 10 and the bottom 5 That's strange, because for me it shows my score (bolded) and those right around me between the top 10 and bottom 5. It then shows the top 10 and bottom 5 MLB players. Are you sure you're logged in when checking? Yes. Do you have a pay BP subscription? No, just the basic.
  10. The starting pitchers for the two games I went to last week (Berg and Hart) combined have one less hit than Gallagher has. :D
  11. Miller's current velocity reminds me of how former Orioles pitcher Ross Grimsley used to brag about having three speeds: slow, slower, and slowest.
  12. It's yours as long as I can have back my 6.4 point loss to you in week 1. :D

  14. Maybe you can get your ERA down below 5.00.
  15. And some pictures from Thursday night's game. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v738/NCCubbieFan/Smokies%20Game%205-24-07/IMG_4750.gif http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v738/NCCubbieFan/Smokies%20Game%205-24-07/IMG_4751.gif http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v738/NCCubbieFan/Smokies%20Game%205-24-07/IMG_4752.gif http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v738/NCCubbieFan/Smokies%20Game%205-24-07/IMG_4754.gif http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v738/NCCubbieFan/Smokies%20Game%205-24-07/IMG_4755.gif Gallagher http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v738/NCCubbieFan/Smokies%20Game%205-24-07/IMG_4756.gif Crazy like a Fox http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v738/NCCubbieFan/Smokies%20Game%205-24-07/IMG_4757.gif Hart http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v738/NCCubbieFan/Smokies%20Game%205-24-07/IMG_4759.gif Slugger and Diamond (they're no Ribbee) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v738/NCCubbieFan/Smokies%20Game%205-24-07/IMG_4761.gif Two NSBB favorites side by side http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v738/NCCubbieFan/Smokies%20Game%205-24-07/IMG_4762.gif http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v738/NCCubbieFan/Smokies%20Game%205-24-07/IMG_4764.gif http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v738/NCCubbieFan/Smokies%20Game%205-24-07/IMG_4766.gif Fox goes yard
  16. I attended the Smokies' home games last Wednesday and Thursday. Some pictures from Wednesday's game are in this post; I'll add a separate post with pictures from Thursday's game. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v738/NCCubbieFan/Smokies%20Game%205-23-07/IMG_4702.gif http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v738/NCCubbieFan/Smokies%20Game%205-23-07/IMG_4703.gif http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v738/NCCubbieFan/Smokies%20Game%205-23-07/IMG_4705.gif http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v738/NCCubbieFan/Smokies%20Game%205-23-07/IMG_4711.gif http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v738/NCCubbieFan/Smokies%20Game%205-23-07/IMG_4712.gif http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v738/NCCubbieFan/Smokies%20Game%205-23-07/IMG_4714.gif Berg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v738/NCCubbieFan/Smokies%20Game%205-23-07/IMG_4715.gif http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v738/NCCubbieFan/Smokies%20Game%205-23-07/IMG_4720.gif Hitting coach Barbaro Garbey http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v738/NCCubbieFan/Smokies%20Game%205-23-07/IMG_4723.gif Salas (4-for-4 this game) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v738/NCCubbieFan/Smokies%20Game%205-23-07/IMG_4724.gif Salas touching 'em all http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v738/NCCubbieFan/Smokies%20Game%205-23-07/IMG_4733.gif http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v738/NCCubbieFan/Smokies%20Game%205-23-07/IMG_4740.gif http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v738/NCCubbieFan/Smokies%20Game%205-23-07/IMG_4746.gif http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v738/NCCubbieFan/Smokies%20Game%205-23-07/IMG_4748.gif Coach Fuld http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v738/NCCubbieFan/Smokies%20Game%205-23-07/IMG_4749.gif Petrick
  17. Mark, Last year was your first year in professional baseball, with Daytona. This year, so far you've put up much better numbers despite playing at a higher level. To what do you attribute your improvement from last year to this year?
  18. Sean, You spent about half of last season in AA with West Tenn, and now you're with Tennessee. Have you noticed any difference between the two in terms of fan support, ballpark, etc.? If so, which one do you like better?
  19. Donnie, You and Sean Gallagher are two of the top three Cubs' pitching prospects according to Baseball America, and I believe you're teammates for the first time this year. Do you ever have any friendly wagers with each other over who will pitch a better game or anything like that?
  20. It also gave us Williamson, although he's since been traded.

    Week 8

With my win this week I have passed my win total for the entire season in 2005 (4) and am only one win away from my season total for last year. I think I'll likely win more games this year than my two previous years in the league combined. Tim has the strangest record I think I've seen. 3-5, with the high score of the week each week he's won. Talk about extreme feast or famine.
  22. Agreed. But I still blame the offense for not showing up yet again today... I do too. I didn't mean that Eyre and Lou get all the blame; there was plenty to go around. But Eyre's failure could be seen from a mile away because he's been putrid all year.
  23. Eyre being on the roster is a Hendry failure. Eyre pitching in a one-run game is a Piniella failure.
  24. I heard that Lou is so mad at Eyre that he's sending Guzman to Iowa and calling Miller up. :D
  25. Jose Guzman was the other pitcher signed to replace Maddux. And if I remmeber it right he had a spectacular debut. And nothing after that! Actually he was fairly decent in 1992. He was 12-10 with a 4.34 ERA, 2 complete games, and 1 shutout (that was the debut you remembered, a 1-hit 1-0 shutout over the Braves and John Smoltz).
