  1. Winning a lifesize Z poster seems an appropriate prize. Even more appropriate if he had gotten tossed yesterday after the dugout brawl. :D
  2. I'm quite sure he was being sarcastic.
  3. No need for a separate thread here; this fits in well with the existing threads started yesterday.
  4. I remember it, but I think it was from seeing highlights rather than the actual game itself. Martin's Yankees and Finley's As were two teams that actually thrived on an atmosphere of turmoil.
  5. That's the original broadcast with Harry calling the game, right? Costas called it, it was the NBC Game of the Week. Oh okay, didn't realize that. So the DVD's include the original commentary right? I just don't want to buy the set and be surprised with some random guy narrating the games. Complete broadcasts, sans commercials.
  6. http://insider.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?entryID=2890979&name=olney_buster And all he gets is a fine? This is the most disgusted I've ever been with the Cubs. At a minimum I think he needs to be ordered to take anger management training and be benched for at least one start. A fine is a joke; this calls for substantially more than a slap on the wrist.
  7. First, he won't help them win this year if they wait to sign him. Second, who's to say he'd choose to sign with them and not another team, such as the Yankees or Red Sox? They may feel that trading for him this year gives them a leg up on re-signing him after the season.
  8. Up by 23, with a one start disadvantage. Still anyone's game. We still have the two highest scores of the week.
  9. Speaking of Bears' DVDs, the 2006 season DVD is scheduled to be released Aug. 7. Deepdiscount.com is selling it for $14.63 with free shipping.
  10. Charlotte-NC State was one of two games pitting NC schools against each other today. In the Chapel Hill regional East Carolina beat Western Carolina, and they face North Carolina next.
  11. Where do you get that was aimed at Barrett? MHO...it was aimed at Hendry. That was my interpretation too. Lou was saying he needs better players, and Hendry's the one in charge of getting the players.
  12. No, but they should contract the management.
  13. That's largely what I thought. He was on the minor league DL, and I'm not sure if there's a 60-day DL there. It may be long enough into this season now that it wouldn't count as a season of service time anyway, so perhaps the Cubs officially called Prior up from the minors and then placed him on the major league 60-day DL.
  14. I just hope I get to see him pitch when Tennessee plays at Carolina first.
  15. I don't think that's the meaning of "badass" that the original poster had in mind. :D
  16. But I got five more stupid points from Cordero anyway for four pitches. :D
  17. I was just about to point that out; he has 5.1 shutout innings so far. Meanwhile, awesome performance by Webb for me. 8 innings, 4 hits, 1 ER, 1 walk, 8 strikeouts. At this moment I have a 49.5 to 0.25 edge today. And with Webb's game completed we each have two starts remaining (Washburn later tonight and Jennings Sunday for me; Bonderman and Santana Sunday for you). I think I have the upper hand now, but I'm far from claiming victory; both of my pitchers could certainly lay eggs.
  18. I don't think it's likely, but I think he might have grounds IF he wanted to. If either or both of them are traded so they're no longer teammates that might increase the likelihood.
  19. I'm not sure about a rumor, but I suggested it as a possibility in one of the threads (someone else mentioned getting Salty and Johnson, which would be even better, but not likely to happen IMO). I think it's at least plausible, since Salty is blocked at catcher for several more years by McCann, and Z could revert to form with a fresh start elsewhere (much like Fergie Jenkins did with Texas many years ago after his Cubs tenure ended on a down note).
  20. If that turns out to be true, then Z has to be given MAJOR discipline. I think Barrett might also have grounds for a lawsuit against Z personally, if he chooses to pursue it. This action by Z I would consider completely unforgiveable.
  21. Same thing for me for both 1969 and 2004. That's why I voted for 2002 (since I'm only considering completed seasons).
  22. I said both traded, but only if they can get value in return. If not, just have them coexist. I don't want to give either of them away for next to nothing.
  23. And meanwhile, 300 points could lose my matchup with Fuzzy Logistics. :D
  24. I only consider completed seasons, so I said 2002. They were expected to contend after the surprising 2001 season, but they fell flat on their faces.
  25. Apparently Prior. Cubs.com now shows him on the 60-day DL.
