  1. Another excellent outing by Marquis, with a good (finally) performance by Ohman to combine for the shutout. I think Uncle Larry has to be part of the reason for this success. I'm convinced the problems in the past were simply due to Dusty not listening to Larry, as has been widely rumored (Dick Pole was Dusty's guy and Dusty resented being stuck with Larry).
  2. I see no way that Murton gets sent down. Traded, maybe (although I'd MUCH rather see Jones traded), but not sent down.
  3. And Aardsma got the win for the Sox by pitching 1/3 inning.
  4. I don't think anyone said it was COMPLETELY Dusty's fault.
  5. I hope Guzman has a great game. I want to see him replace Miller in the Cubs' rotation as soon as he's eligible to be called back up.
  6. Maybe they're still trying to recapture the Willie Hernandez magic from former Cubs. :D

    Week 3

I seem to be on a former Cub kick now. My three most recent free agent pickups are Lohse (a Cub at the minor league level), Aardsma, and Moyer. Two of the three were to replace current Cubs (Lilly and Guzman).
  8. Hmm...if he gets traded to the Cubs in the middle of the season, they wouldn't give him the record since it was in 2 different leagues, right? I think they would. League records and leaders are based on statistics while playing in that league, but I think major league records include performance in both leagues. That being said, I think it will be a moot point because I don't think the Yankees will trade him during the season.
  9. Look on the bright side; you're getting used to what it will be like if you make it to the Cubs.
  10. I now have five players officially on major league disabled lists (Liriano, Figgins, Ryan, Jennings, and Owings). Let's see if anybody can top that. :D Fortunately, Owings still has plenty of minor league eligibility remaining, so I can stash him on my minor league roster instead of having to carry two injured players on my reserve list. On a related note, to make room for him, if anyone's interested in a fallen former #1 overall draft pick, Bryan Bullington will be coming soon to a waiver wire near you. :D

    Week 3

I lead by slightly over 120 points with two days remaining. I have one pitching start remaining and my opponent has two, but I don't think one more start will be enough to overcome a 120-point deficit. :D My opponent had pitching starts from Schilling and Blanton on Friday, with Cy Looper on the bench, and Looper himself had more points than Schilling and Blanton combined. \:D/
  12. I have no idea; I was just speculating that he may have meant Levine rather than Levin (since I'm not familiar with any sportswriter or commentator named Levin).
  13. What Levin comment? He may have meant Levine (as in the other Bruce).
  14. They had to have been worried that someone else would take a chance. There'd be no other logical reason to do it this way. Of course, we are talking about the Reds here, so logic doesn't necessarily apply. :D

    Week 3

At this moment I am the high scorer for the week among managers without a pitcher throwing a no-hitter. :D
  16. Actually I'd say Hill is the least of the Cubs' worries. :D
  17. I actually saw Hamilton in person a few years ago, although I didn't know it was him at the time. I was getting my hair cut, and he got his cut in the same shop (he's from near Raleigh, NC, just as I am). The stylist mentioned it was him right after he left. She wasn't very complimentary of him. I think this was when he was recovering from injury, shortly before or during the early stages of his drug addiction.

    Week 3

Just like the Cubs, scoring a bunch at once rather than spreading it out. :D

    Week 3

I picked up Kyle Lohse as a free agent and put him in my lineup for today's start in place of Lilly (whom I traded for Wickman). I believe a trade is an allowable reason for lineup changes.

    Week 3

I lead by slightly over 75 points but have two starts remaining to my opponent's potential four. I feel pretty good about my chances to break into the win column.
  21. Hill's ERA is now less than 0.50. Out of this world.

    Avatars

It's inappropriate (too much breast showing) for a family-friendly site.
  23. I'd try for Miggy, but I wouldn't let getting Aram instead of Miggy be a deal breaker given your strengths and needs.
  24. Which came immediately on the heels of an 8 game losing streak.
  25. It may not be true technically, but it is practically speaking; no need to get hung up on semantics. The Cubs had an agreement that teams simply don't break. If the Cubs did break it, the Reds would certainly get revenge in the future (possibly by blocking the Cubs from trading a player during the waiver period, possibly by preventing the Cubs from sending a player down on waivers).
