  1. The Tennessee at Chattanooga series should be especially interesting for Mick.

    Week 2

I definitely agree with that, which is what I was getting at in my post when I said I think clarifying rules is fine during the season but changes in the rules should be made during the offseason. As far as my moves are concerned, my picking up Davis and using him today was definitely improper (since Jennings hasn't officially been placed on the DL yet, even though the team has said that he will be), so you probably need to deduct the points he put up today from my score (after the overnight adjustments are made by Sportsline). Owings is more of a gray area, since I believe your earlier comments this week implied that it was OK, but I won't question your discretion whatever you think is right. I put Jennings back on my reserve roster (until he is officially placed on the DL) and I released Davis (whom I shouldn't have picked up in the first place), so I think that should make things right.
  3. I think Theriot deserves a lot more time. I just hope it isn't in place of Aram much longer.
  4. The Jays placed closer B.J. Ryan on the 15-day DL with a sprained elbow. It also sounds like it could be even worse, since he's scheduled to visit Dr. Andrews. Ryan has been absolutely torched in two of his games recently. If he's going to be out for an extended period I wonder if they might be interested in one of the Cubs' relief pitchers, since we have an excess.
  5. Two great starts out of three for Lilly. Two great starts out of two for Hill. One great start out of three for Zambrano.
  6. I'm more worried about the timeliness of runs, not the number of home runs. They can hit very few home runs for all I care as long as they find other ways to score runs. But outscoring your opponent 12-7 in a three-game series, scoring 5 or more runs in two games while your opponent scores more than one run in only one game, and yet still losing 2 of 3 games is unacceptable.

I have both Sheets and Myers in other leagues, so what's helping me in our matchup (which I'm sure I'll still lose anyway) is hurting me in my other leagues. I would have preferred that they had good games, you beat me my a larger margin here, and I do better in my other leagues. i don't know how you figure i've got you beat. i'm going to lose a ton of points overnight. I was forgetting that for the moment; I was looking at the current scores. And I still don't know if my move in adding Davis was legal (Juan hasn't chimed in on that yet), so it's possible I may not get his points. It seems to me like a gray area, when the pitcher I replaced (Jennings) has been announced as definitely going on the DL but not having officially done so yet. I figured the best thing to do was add him in case it is allowed, figuring that Juan can adjust the scoring as appropriate if it isn't.

Of course, you said it knowing that you're going to beat the [expletive] doing that this week. :D

Surprise, surprise: San Francisco at Pittsburgh also postponed.

Add Kansas City at Baltimore to the list of today's postponements.

I would certainly think you can reserve pitchers if you want to in order to avoid a poor start resulting in negative points. It's already been stated that the reserve limit can be exceeded in order to reserve pitchers with several starts; I would assume that would be true even if that does result in having fewer than 7 starts by your own choice.
  13. Yes; I think that's part of Quaker's reference to most of this having already been reported here. I think this is a list of moves over a period of time, not new moves just now made. It has also been awhile since Holdzkom was released.
  14. I think Jack Buck belongs on the list as well (unless someone else mentioned him and I just overlooked it).

    Week 2

LAA at Boston, Washington at New York Mets, and Houston at Philadelphia already postponed for today. Unless the storm doesn't turn into the monster predicted there will probably be no baseball played in any of those cities over the next several days either, since it's expected to become a slow-moving, full-blown nor'easter.
  16. Dempster was also great the first part of last year. It was when the Cubs started losing and Dusty refused to use him in non-save situations to keep him sharp that he started to tank.

I just made a move that I'm not sure if it's legitimate, and if it isn't Juan can adjust the scoring accordingly. It has now been announced that Jennings is definitely going on the DL (even though the move isn't yet official). I believe we said in Spring Training that it was OK to put a player on our DL if it was stated he was going on the major league DL but just hadn't been done officially yet. Accordingly I put Jennings on my DL and picked up Doug Davis, who is scheduled to start on Sunday, to replace the start I lost from Jennings; that would still give me only 6 starts for the week. If I misunderstood that ruling Juan can take away the points Davis gets for me tomorrow (or if I see a statement from him that it isn't OK before the game starts I'll reserve him myself).
  18. The saying "it is more blessed to give than to receive" doesn't apply to walks.
  19. Wow. So the Cubs World Series hopes rest on the who wins the classic good/evil battle between Cliff Floyd and Matt Murton. Alright then! Yep; Murton is Harry Potter and Floyd is He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named.

That was my understanding anyway (unless it is to replace a player who actually goes on the major league DL). Is moving a player up from your own minor league roster, like I did with Owings earlier this week, OK? To me that seems in the same spirit as moving someone from your reserve list to your active roster, but I don't think that issue had been addressed specifically.
  21. Dr. Andrews is as much a household name now as Dr. Jobe was 10 or 20 years ago. I think baseball fans who don't even know who their own team's doctor is know who Dr. Andrews is.
  22. This is what was on cubs.com today: Basically, the only thing that may be new is that Dr. Yocum is going to consult with Dr. Andrews.
  23. And to think people were talking about Wuertz getting optioned to Iowa during Spring Training.
  24. Considering how he finished last year in addition to his start this year, I think he's shown he's the real deal. He shouldn't keep getting his starts pushed back to keep Zambrano on his normal schedule. Getting Hill as many starts as possible should be a priority.
