  1. Nathan Baliva, announcer for the Peoria Chiefs (low-A), has once again graciously agreed to have a thread where he will answer some questions about the Chiefs throughout the 2007 season! This will be a great opportunity to not only get to ask questions to a first hand source, but to get to know Nathan over the course of the season. Please note that Nathan is being very gracious to interact with us. With that being said, please understand that Nathan may or may not be able to get to your question right away and that there may be times where he is limited in regards to what he can say on certain issues. This session will be in accordance with the NSBB Q & A Guidelines. Thank you to Nathan for taking the time to visit with us here at NSBB. In addition, thank you to all of you for making NSBB such a wonderful posting community!

    Week 1

And his walk-off grand slam was off Ray, who is on one of my other fantasy teams. :(

    Week 1

The weather in Cleveland has wrecked havoc with my offense the past couple of days. No Marte, no Ichiro yesterday or today. They really blew it when they called the game when they did yesterday (only one strike away from being an official game). After all they waited through to play the game, when it gets that close you simply have to finish that at-bat at least and give every chance to get an official game in rather than having it all count for nothing. I really think the umpires dropped the ball on that one big time.
  4. Good thing we have Angel Pagan who supposedly beat Reyes in a race one time  Pagan is in Iowa.

    Week 1

I'm up by about 22 points with two pitching starts remaining for both of us. I see a 1-0 start for me for a second straight year after my 0-13 start in 2005.
  6. Five minutes remaining.
  7. I set up a poll in the Polls forum to vote on this.
  8. There's a lengthy discussion of this in Baseball Discussions, so I thought it would be interesting to put it to a vote. After all, we're electing the new Cubs' owner, so we also should decide where they play. :D
  9. Only if it's Cary, North Carolina. Then they'd be less than an hour from me. :D
  10. Breaking news: Hill can pitch. :D

    Week 1

Speaking of pitchers sucking, B.J. Ryan really stunk up the joint tonight. He gave me negative points even before deductions for TBA.
  12. Tuffy Rhodes hit 3 home runs in the first 3 games of 1994. Therefore, if 3 games really means that much, we shouldn't be talking about Bonds as the single-season HR king, but rather Rhodes in 1994 since he averaged a homer per game. :D
  13. He reminds me a bit of Adrian Gonzalez in the sense that both were highly touted prospects (Gonzalez was once BA's #1) that just took a little longer than some players to put it together at the major league level.
  14. Is this thread going to be bumped before each Hill start like the infamous "If Zambrano starts, your in trouble thread" used to be on cubs.com? :D
  15. You still have until midnight Pacific time tonight to drop him like a hot potato. :D
  16. Gallagher + Veal back to back = a reason for me to go to Zebulon, NC two nights in a row when the Smokies come to town (that is, if they're both still in AA at that time).
  17. Ivan DeJesus for Larry Bowa and a minor league throw-in. :D
  18. This has anti-trust suit written all over it. I'm not sure if it is worth it to Cuban though.I'm not sure that Cuban would have a case (I don't know that anyone really has a legal right to buy a major league baseball team), but I think Zell might have a case from the seller's side. If MLB rejects the original owner and he has to sell to someone else at a lower price he should be able to hold MLB liable for the difference.
  19. I think Hagerty may be in Extended Spring Training, although I'm not sure. He is still with the organization, and I don't recall reading about him being assigned to a specific team.
  20. My misunderstanding. I thought they meant Thursday night/ Friday morning. Technically that would be correct, but practically speaking people generally think of midnight as the end of the day, not the beginning.
  21. The Chicago Cubs of Schaumburg. :D
  22. It means resurrecting a thread that hasn't been posted in for months.
  23. No, you still have almost 24 hours. It said midnight Friday, which meant Friday night/Saturday morning.
  24. Just a reminder, only one day left to form or change your team of stiffs.
