  1. Actually 10,000+. Just look at my title and post count for proof. :D
  2. What about Ryne Sandberg and Billy Williams? :D
  3. Welcome to the Cubs' organization. As an opposing broadcaster, as you were in previous years, you probably have a different perspective than a team's own broadcaster. I'm curious which players that played for West Tenn when you were with Chattanooga impressed you the most? Also, do you think the Cubs' affiliate will receive more fan support in Sevierville than they did in Jackson? I'll undoubtedly see a few Smokies games this year. I live less than an hour from the Carolina Mudcats' stadium, so I'll get to see some of the games played there.
  4. We should trade an extra reliever to the Reds. They can't seem to get enough. :D
  5. I thought Hill was sent home earlier this spring because he failed his physical. Apparently he had gotten healthier.
  6. In other words, no chance to be a Bengal.
  7. A certain former Cub who's now with Texas? :D
  8. No, what would have happened is that Dusty would have fired Perry before Perry had a chance to develop bad habits, such as patience and taking walks, to the players. It's called hitting, not walking. :D
  9. That bid must have been retracted. It's now down to "only" $99,650,100.
  10. For all his health problems, Brown really is an outstanding safety and a huge asset to the defense. I'd really like to keep him. I'll never forget 2001 when he had interception returns for touchdowns two weeks in a row. That's when I first became aware of him and I've been a fan ever since. It would be nice if he could stay healthy for once, but like the Cubs with Prior and Wood, now they have other options if he doesn't.
  11. He posted his picks immediately after mine, and I had Tejada. I guess he wanted to one-up me. :D
  12. It happens especially for split-squad games. I'm not sure how many of them there are left this spring.
  13. I knew you'd make an appearance in this thread. :D woah, thats uncalled for. Just because the word [expletive] is in the title, you knew a girl would show up? Ouch. If you were joking, OK. If not, it's not a good idea to call out a moderator when you don't know what they're talking about. As mentioned, my comment was based purely on knowing that she's a big South Carolina fan. It had nothing to do with the word "[expletive]." Just a little sexist I thought, thats all. It had absolutely nothing to do with sexism. The term "[expletive]" was completely irrelevant. The comment was based on the university itself, not its nickname.
  14. I've actually posted pictures from other Cub-related web sites; nothing wrong with posting the link.

  16. It used to be common back in the days of 4-man rotations. Fergie Jenkins began his career as a reliever, and Nolan Ryan was a reliever/spot starter when he first came up. I like it as a way to limit a pitcher's innings his first major league season or two.
  17. Only one option was used (his half-season in the minors in 2002). He hasn't been sent to the minors since then (rehabilitation assignments while on the DL don't count), so he hasn't used any more since then. Seasons where a player stays on the major league roster all year don't count as option years; only seasons where the team sends the player to the minors use options.
  18. I think that's the effect of no DST in Arizona. If they did observe DST it would have been 2 P.M.
  19. Yes I did. I was surprised he wasn't taken in the first round.
  20. 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K since his return from the injury. Very good strikeout/walk ratio and K/9 innings. :D I like the move.. But I would've preferred a couple more appearances before they decided it for sure. They can still change their mind if he struggles the rest of the spring. Just making an announcement now isn't binding.
  21. http://www.boysofspring.com/journal/george%20will.jpg George Will, Lou Piniella, and Billy Williams
  22. I remember Great Scott quite well. Harry was really hyping him. After he flamed out with the Cubs he was taken by a team (I believe Florida, but it may have been Colorado) in the expansion draft, and he couldn't even stick in the majors with an expansion team. He was traded to Florida with Alex Arias for Greg Hibbard. That's right. I knew he went to an expansion team, I just forgot the manner in which he left. That actually turned out pretty good, because Hibbard was the Cubs' best starter for a year or two.
