  1. I'm not sure you can included somebody on the 40 man roster as a PTBNL. I believe the only restriction is that can't have played in the same league in the same season they are traded as a PTBNL. I don't even think it's that restrictive. I believe the rule is that the player can't be playing in the same league at the time of the trade (rather than anytime in the season). After all, I believe Bobby Hill had played for the Cubs earlier in 2003 before he went to Pittsburgh as a PTBNL in the Lofton/Ramirez trade.
  2. His arbitration clock won't have started (there's no way he'd be up long enough this year to be a "Super 2" after 2009). His option clock would start, however.
  3. Maybe I wasn't clear about something. This is a free league on Yahoo.
  4. I think he will out of desperation to win this year and have a chance at saving his job.
  5. Um, check my profile.
  6. So that's what he does in his free time when he's not racing or botching the name of the Cubs' ballpark. :D
  7. I've got a feeling he's been "blackballed" outside of SF already. The environment comparing SF to the rest of the league is night and day -- SF has put up with him because of the fan support, but I highly doubt another team would even consider him. I can think of one power-challenged team that could sure use him for the rest of this year.
  8. Dennis Green, is that you? :D
  9. I think my performance from Jennings a couple of weeks ago is the worst individual performance for a single day on Roadkill this year, but Gallardo gave it a good run. The problem was that he took 2.2 innings to give up 11, while Jennings did all the damage in less than one inning.
  10. It was WAY before my lifetime, but based on reading a lot about Cubs history I had to go with Hartnett's homer in the gloamin'. It propelled the Cubs to the World Series that year.
  11. Kind of hard to do that with the day off.
  12. Still looking for teams. Only 6 so far; room for 8 more.
  13. Another cubs.com poll.
  14. I need you to beat HBC; that will keep me no worse than one game out of 3rd (it looks like I'm getting Bayou Bashed this week).
  15. I cast multiple votes. I was tempted to vote for Bob D. just because I'm also a Bob D. and his story about growing up waching Ernie Banks and listening to Jack Brickhouse, Jim West, and Lou Boudreau applies to me too. I didn't give in to temptation, though. :D
  16. Not working for me. Every time I voted, I just used the new popup window that came up when I clicked the link a couple pages back in this thread, and every time I closed the window after voting, I cleared cookies and re-opened. I've also just opened new windows and browsed to the page myself. Not happening from here.Did you actually close the original browser window (not just the popup)? That's what I had to do.
  17. I think closing and re-opening the browser is the trick. I just tried that and it did register a new vote. This is with IE7.
  18. I too was unable to vote again after clearing cookies. I have another problem too; I don't know if anybody knows anything about it. When I click on the link for the audition videos I can hear the sound, but I just see a green box instead of the video. This seems to be true for all of the mlb.com videos.
  19. Assuming he clears waivers, he could be assigned right back to Daytona. This move really was just because they had to clear a 40-man roster spot when they decided to promote Patterson rather than Pie. I don't think it means the end for Dopirak (unless he's claimed by another team). I believe I read in another thread that the waiver period is 48 hours; if so this may really be nothing more than two days off for him.
  20. Do you see Pie being moved to RF, then?
  21. The entire board is going to be moved, not just this thread. And I think it's mainly because the new version of the software has additional features.
  22. First move for the second half: Drop Soriano, add Dunn.
  23. No, but Lou could banish him to the bullpen if he thinks another starter could do better.
  24. No way does one week end the playoff hopes. Put a dent in them, perhaps. End them, definitely not.
  25. To be fair, 2003 and and 2004 weren't his only good seasons. His 2002 with the Cubs was better than 2003. Oops; I meant to say 2002 and 2003. I was referring to his first two years with the Cubs, but I was a year off on my thinking about when the Cubs acquired him.
