  1. There is. The voting is only half done.
  2. Yeah, Pie got two hits last night and a hard hit ball that scored a run today. Worthless. Send him back down for at least the next 2 years.
  3. Two spots remaining. Once the league is filled I'll try to come up with a list matching league members with their NSBB names so everybody knows who's who.
  4. In a few days I plan to set up leagues for Pro and College Pick'em contests and Survival Football on Yahoo. When I do I'll post the information both here and on Windy City Football. Before I do that I want to see if people have preferences with respect to straight picks vs. point spreads vs. confidence points for the Pick'em contests. Accordingly I have set up polls on Windy City Football for that purpose. If you plan to participate in either or both of the Pick'em contests and have a preference, please visit Windy City Football and vote. College poll Pro poll
  5. We now have 10 teams; room for 4 more. Almost two weeks until draft day.
  6. He hasn't been any good since 2002.
  7. I'd trade Eyre and Jones for Podsednik if the Sox agree to pay all of their remaining salaries this year and next. :D
  8. Unfortunately, I could see Hendry doing it. He obviously doesn't think much of Soto if he thinks Koyie Hill is better. So in Hendry's eyes this might be almost like getting something for nothing.
  9. Too bad Victor and Carlos weren't free agents at the same time. Then someone might have actually fallen for it.
  10. If ARod had stayed at SS, there could be debate. But he didn't. So there's not. Ernie Banks is another that I think would be way near the top of the list if he had spent his entire career at shortstop. Maybe there could also be a utility category for players such as Banks, Biggio, and Arod, who are clearly great players, but who switched positions throughout their careers.
  11. Grr, I wish I had the confidence to have activated Marquis instead of Washburn last nignt.
  12. Where does Henry Blanco fit into this equation? Don't get me wrong, I'd prefer Soto+Kendall too, but nevertheless Blanco has to be accounted for somehow. Out of sight, out of mind. I forgot Blanco still has a year remaining on his contract.
  13. Poster of the Week became divisive enough on cubs.com a few years ago. I don't think a Hall of Fame for message board posters is a very good idea. Besides, you have to be retired five years to be eligible for the Hall, so nobody here even qualifies yet. :D
  14. so naive. Naive, no. Under the influence of blue Kool-Aid and thinking a new GM might look at things differently, yes.
  15. I'd prefer Tuesday. Take no chances with a guy like Rammy. That would be my preference too. As last night showed, Colorado is one place the Cubs can score alot even without Aram and Soriano.
  16. I wouldn't be against re-signing him to a one-year deal if he'd agree to one. Especially if the idea is for him to be insurance in case Soto doesn't work out.
  17. Monday'a actually an off-day. I've read that he may be back Sunday, or it may be Tuesday.
  18. Don't forget, there was once an ex-pitcher that hit 60 home runs in a season and 714 in his career. I believe his name was George Herman something. :D
  19. I'm not an NBA fan, but I may occasionally visit the board for college basketball discussions. How about "Sons of (insert name of favorite mediocre Bull from the past)"? :D
  20. No, he's busy being the hitting coach for the nationals. Seriously. Dear lord, who thought of hiring him as a hitting coach? dude's the all-time leader in pinch hits! All-time. And why was he pinch hitting so often? Because he wasn't good enough to be a starter. Those who can't do, teach. :D
  21. You have to take Jones and Eyre in return and pay their entire salaries. :D
  22. Likely a formality. All teams put just about everybody on waivers to hide their intentions about who they're actually interested in trading.
  23. That seems the million dollar question. Maybe they're waiting for an investigation into voting irregularities. :D
