  1. E-Evil woman!! Don't bring me down, groose.
  2. If that were to happen I think the Tigers would send the Cubs another player. I've never heard of a PTBNL being settled with two players going the other way.
  3. I've never seen minor league playoffs televised.
  4. It's draft day. Good luck to everybody in the chase to finish second to me. :D
  5. I believe the teams in the same division play each other in the first round. I remember two years ago West Tenn played Carolina in the first round, then played Jacksonville (with Chad Billingsley) for the championship.

My team just had one of those days; 70 points with just one pitching start (it helps that Marshall was the one start). Everybody was contributing. If they'd do that more often I'd still be in playoff contention rather than playing spoiler. My team does seem to have your number this year. :D
  7. Wickman didn't want to pitch in non-save situations, so Cox gave him his wish. :D
  8. Rough night for Tyler. I'm surprised they didn't pinch hit for him by the time he was 0 for 50. It should have been obvious by then it wasn't his night.

  10. That would be genius! I'll lay odds he's the PTBNL. I could see that happening; there is precedence for such a move. A few years ago the Cubs took pitcher Scott Chiasson from Oakland in the Rule 5. The Cubs wanted to keep him, but weren't going to carry him on the major league roster, so they worked out a trade with Oakland which allowed them to keep Chiasson and still send him down (I believe that's when the Cubs traded Eric Hinske; they got Miguel Cairo back in return).
  11. I've set the contests up. Group IDs are as follows: Pro Pick'em--41707 College Pick'em--24709 Survival Football--15599 The password is WCFB for all three (this is football, after all :D ). Based on the results of the polls I ran on WCFB I set it up as straight picks for pro pick'em and confidence points for college. If anybody has a strong preference for a different method they can set up a group using that method; there's no reason there has to be only one group for each contest. You can participate in more than one group just like you can participate in more than one fantasy league. There's room for 50 people in each contest, so feel free to invite others.
  12. No conflict of interest here. :^o
  13. The infamous Cub Factor at work. :D
  14. The vote isn't really that even. FRBG leads by over 10%.
  15. You can still post links to old threads so people can go back and reread them.
  16. what? I'm hoping it was overdone sarcasm. Otherwise... He's actually quoting a post from another poster (cubbette14) from several months ago.
  17. I think the only relationship between the beer drinker and the Cardinals is that she was in Wolf's avatar for a long time. Some people on this board associate her with the Cardinals for that reason.
  18. I think you're right about that. His problem before being moved to the pen was cramping.

Too bad nobody in the league has Paul Shuey on their team. His 9 earned runs in 1/3 of an inning (in Baltimore's 30-3 loss to Texas) might have set an all-time low for pitching points.
  20. I agree. The only time you'd need a backup kicker is during your regular kicker's bye week, and you can just pick up a free agent kicker for that week.
  21. You might also check out http://www.deepdiscount.com. They sell books, CDs, and DVDs and sometimes cost less than Amazon or B & N. Plus they offer free shipping for any order (as opposed to Amazon and B & N requiring a minimum purchase for free shipping). If I'm interested in ordering a book, CD, or DVD I'll check them all out because I've found all of them to have the lowest cost at times.

It would have been even better if I had Washburn active and Rodriguez reserved instead of the other way around. I have so many two start pitchers this week I have 11 starts to get 7 from. Last week I had to pick up a pitcher just to get 7.
  23. I wonder how they are going to get around the collective bargining agreement? I'm pretty sure they are not supposed to play for more than 21 days in a row without a break. Anyway, this is good news for the Brewers. maybe there are caveats for makeup games. either way, this further points towards how broken the scheduling is. not to sound too "olde thyme", but having some scheduled Sunday doubleheaders would create more off days and make this situation less of a struggle The rule can be waived for make-up games, although I believe it requires the union's OK. That happened to the Cubs back in 2004 when an entire series in Florida was lost due to the hurricane. The Cubs went well over the normal limit without an off-day at the end of the season, and I think fatigue due to a lack of a day off was one of the reasons for the last week collapse losing the Wild Card.
  24. Not yet, but I plan to start them this week. The preferences seem to be for straight picks for the pro contest and confidence points for college. Are you going to post a link for the signups here? Yes.
