  1. The Cubs are going great and the Bears look like they're going to have a tremendous season. I keep expecting the other shoe to drop; this almost seems too good to be true.
  2. I lead by almost 30 but have a 5-4 remaining pitching start disadvantage. So far a couple of my trading deadline acquisitions (Glavine and McGowan) have done better than many of the pitchers I had (in particular Jennings).
  3. I believe the way it works is there is a team option for next year, and if Dunn is traded the option is voided. The end result is the same as you said.
  4. Let's remember this is only the non-waiver trade deadline. Big waiver trades have been made in the past. Teams that think they are currently in contention and therefore hanging on to players may think otherwise in 2 or 3 weeks. And just because no trade has been announced yet doesn't necessarily mean none have been made. Trades aren't always announced immediately, especially if the Commissioner's Office has to be involved because of cash changing hands.
  5. Remember, Vance bought the championship. If it were competed on even footing Raisin might have won. :D
  6. It would be great if an extension could be announced today. It would make for a great trading deadline day regardless of whether anything else happens.
  7. I can't wait for the next series. The Cubs can enjoy a cardinal sandwich on Piniero Bread.
  8. Hart was traded to the Baltimore organization a while back and is now with Norfolk. He's hitting a combined .148 with 0 HR and 0 RBI in 88 at bats this year.
  9. Interesting... That's not at all what was reported tonight during the ESPN broadcast. They said that he would make a 2 inning appearance on Thursday or Friday and could be called up afterwards if all goes well. That didn't make much sense to me, waiting almost a week between relief appearances, so I'll have to go with Paul Sullivan on this one. His two-inning appearance is tomorrow (actually today now). not Wednesday or Thursday.
  10. This Saturday against the Mets. I'm going to that game and will witness the Cubs take over the division. :D
  11. Kool-Aid can be refreshing during the summer. :bluekoolaid:
  12. Being "perfectly fine" with the roster doesn't mean that Hendry doesn't recognize that there are weaknesses. It could simply be that he thinks what's available at the moment costs too much to be worthwhile.
  13. Who will be leaving us? I think Cherry would be the logical one to go down (barring any trades before the deadline, that is).
  14. Maybe Hendry himself planted the rumors so he could later debunk them and make fans happy with nothing happening. :D
  15. Folks, we are NOT going to tolerate another pissing match like we had a couple of weeks ago. Disagree without resorting to condescending tones. I'm not singling out a single poster, nor do I care who started it. It needs to end now.
  16. I'm not 100% certain either. I believe, though, that a team could put the players on waivers again, but the second time they would be irrevocable.
  17. That took all of one post to completely derail. How is it derailing? The topic of the thread is what you'd do, and Vance answered what he'd do.
