  1. Or I did. ;) Oops; I forgot who posted that in the Moderator forum. I should be more careful to give credit where it's deserved. :D
  2. There is now (I added one to Tim's post in the article thread).
  3. Ask and ye shall receive. Tim did move it.
  4. Really going out on a limb with that guess. :D
  5. I think we all forgot. Including Lou.
  6. It will be interesting to see if my matchup with Raw is affected by our trade. So far Hardy's had a good game for me and Santana's had a good, but not great, start for him.
  7. If memory serves, Joey Devine was brought up the year he was drafted. Cashner could conceivably be brought up to provide a handful of innings at the end of Sept, but I don't think anybody is counting on a meaningful contribution. is he already on the 40-man? I don't recall him getting a major league contract, so I doubt it. But Harben probably doesn't have much more time left on the 40 man. Easier solution: Move Chad Fox to the 60-day DL.
  8. Soriano rehabbing with Iowa tomorrow in what might be his last game before returning to the Cubs.
  9. I'd do it; you still have a good OF (assuming Soriano comes back strong). And Lincecum is special. If it WERE a keeper league it would be a total no-brainer.
  10. Not necessarily. Not everybody considers making the very most mone possible to be of primary importance. Many players are willing to take a bit less to play for a team they want to, and Dempster strikes me as being that type of player.
  11. Yep and Holtzman had 17 that season. But then again, that was back when a 4-man rotation was the norm so each starter got 40-42 starts if they were healthy. The Cubs actually had five pitchers with double-digit wins that year. Dick Selma won 10 games with the Cubs (12 overall; he was traded to the Cubs during the season) and reliever Phil Regan had 12 wins (in addition to 17 saves, which doesn't sound like much today but was back then).
  12. If you wish to stick around I'd advise that you tone down your in-your-face posting style. That isn't welcome here.
  13. Not to mention invalid and unenforceable, since they're not part of the CBA.
  14. What might be more impressive is having two of them win 20 or more (Zambrano and Dempster could do that). Unless I'm forgetting a year the last time the Cubs did that was 1969 (Fergie Jenkins and Bill Hands).
  15. Yes. He's got blistah on his fingah. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! well you know how that goes. first its a blister then it gets all infected with flesh-eating bacteria and gets all black and rotted, then they amputate his arm. career over. Nah, he'd just have to become a southpaw.
  16. If the player is Adam Loewen (and Adam Loewen who's trying to pull an Ankiel, no less), can it be that hard? Can't they place him on waivers/DFA him for purposes of sending him back to the minors and, given the player, not have to worry about another team claiming him if they try? Probably. Ankiel went through that type of process and wasn't claimed by anyone. Other teams may not have claimed him because they realized they themselves would then have to expose him to waivers to send him down, and St. Louis would then have been able to claim him right back. That could go back and forth forever. There may be a gentlemen's understanding among GMs not to claim players under those circumstances.
  17. And it's worth noting that he threw all of 7, count 'em 7 low-stress pitches today. One figures he'll be okay to go tomorrow if needed. And with Wood reportedly headed to the DL there's a good chance he'll be needed.
  18. I disagree. He loves playing for the Cubs, so I think he'd accept a reasonable contract. If Hendry wants him back he'll be back; Hendry always succeeds in re-signing the players he wants back.
  19. A couple of years ago, maybe. The last year or so estimates of time to be missed have been fairly accurate.
  20. More like the "flew," as in he probably flew with his new teammates to St. Louis after the game today.
  21. Time to stop pitching him in blowouts. Actually I prefer that he be used in less intense situations until we are sure he is back up and running. He hadn't pitched since the ASG, so he does have to stay sharp. With Kerry not able to go right now, you need to make sure that Marmol keeps his confidence up. To me today was a good outing for him. Demp finally got the road win out of the way, and Carlos got a bit of work. No harm done. Now if the same thing were to happen tomorrow, then I would question it.. Not to mention the game wasn't a blowout at the time he started warming up and the decision to not pitch Dempster in the 9th was made. It became a blowout in the top of the 9th. At which point 'Los was already warm and it would have been a waste not to let him get the work. Exactly my point. Plus I think he needed an inning today to make sure he isn't rusty tomorrow if needed.
  22. That's a good one I hadn't thought of. Perhaps it could even be expanded to the bullpen with respect to whether any or all of Wood, Eyre, or Howry should be brought back.
  23. The Harden trade might be an interesting topic, although it might make sense to wait until after tomorrow's start to see if he looks just as good (still a small sample, but I'd put more into it if it's two good starts since the trade as opposed to one good and one so-so or bad). Cubs vs. Brewers might also be timely, although I don't think the Cardinals are going away either. Another interesting topic might be to evaluate Fukudome's and Soto's rookie seasons so far.
