  1. http://www.mannybeingmanny.com Yes, it actually exists.
  2. Soriano and Fukudome approve of this message.
  3. IT'S NICE TO BE IMPORTANT, BUT MORE IMPORTANT TO BE NICE.
  4. And that continued tonight.
  5. Rupert Murdoch, I think. That's what I was thinking it was, but it didn't sound right when I typed it up, so I replaced the last name with "somebody". At least I didn't say Rupert Holmes. If you like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain. If you're not into yoga, if you have half-a-brain. If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape. You're the love that I've looked for, come with me, and escape.
  6. OK, I'm aiming high, but not high enough. I want a sweep, dammit!
  7. Ouch. I might have given some bad information in the game chat, Juan. The recently overturned trade of Dana Eveland for a minor leaguer is the transaction that requires immediate attention. According to your rule above, any year with less than 50/5/10 would be considered an exclusion from an exempt year. I assumed the rule was strictly for guys who have yet to cross that plateau. By your wording of the rule above, even though Eveland pitched enough innings in '05 and '06, he would regain a year of exemption status with only 5 innings pitched (1 start) in '07. That, or the wording needs to be changed. I made the mistake of assuming that once a player crossed the plateau of 50/5/10, that any year after that if they got even one inning or one plate appearance it would cost them an exemption. So, we need to clarify this one quickly in case these guys want to go ahead and reverse that trade again. In other words, I was right when I answered the question in the chat and you were wrong when you corrected me. :P
  8. I was just offered an awesome trade where I'd get Milton Bradley and Todd Wellemeyer at the low, low cost of Jeremy Hermida and Jake Peavy (yeah, riiiiiiight). BigbadB, if you read this thread, this was in the league of former cubs.com posters you were in a few years ago, and you can probably guess who'd make such an offer. :D
  9. that would be stupid Yea, i guess it would be silly to pay more attention to a baseball game(while at one) than just get wasted. Yes, it would be stupid to purposefully curtail your drinking (ie, fun). Your at a baseball game, If you need to drink to have fun at a baseball game.. well.. I dunno then. I don't, but if others do, live and let live (as long as they aren't so drunk as to be distracting from others' enjoyment of the game).
  10. He was out there with Dutchie Caray and someone whose name I missed when they sang the stretch, oddly enough. By chance, could it have been Pete Vonachen? Sounds about right. He's the former owner of the Chiefs (father of Rocky Vonachen, who I believe is the current owner). He was one of Harry's closest friends and delivered the eulogy at his funeral. So it would make sense if he were the third person.
  11. True; it could conceivably be a lengthy stalemate.
  12. I was there most recently just about a year ago. The train set and sub are both nice, and I also like the baby chick display (get your mind out of the gutter, Vance :D ) and Yesterday's Main Street.
  13. We should have used Eyre, period. Marshall is probably being saved to piggyback with Harden, and Cotts has seen recent action. Eyre, however, must be very rusty by now and could have used an inning in a blowout to shake off some rust.
  14. It is possible to think he's a good manager overall and still question specific aspects. His bullpen management is horrible (for example, using Samardz in a blowout and perhaps making him unavailable tomorrow when, meanwhile, there's this pitcher named Scott Eyre who still hasn't thrown a pitch since being activated from the DL and would have been perfect to finish off a blowout).
  15. Did Harry Canary lead the 7th Inning Stretch? I attended the Southern League All-Star Game at Carolina a couple of weeks ago (day before the major league All-Star Game). They didn't have the full Zooperstars cast but Harry was there leading the stretch and Bird-Zerk and friends were there too. I'm sure kids would have enjoyed them more, but I still thought it was entertaining (even though I go to minor league teams for baseball more than entertainment).
  16. With just the right seasoning crow can be downright delicious. :D
  17. After beating the Brewers' two best pitchers to start the series I'm thinking sweep now. I'm greedy.
  18. Because the only other guys in the pen that can go multiple innings are our primary setup men at the moment. Selective modding? Please call abuck on it everytime he's sarcastic too? Or does he get a pass? Sorry TT, I've never had any problem with you, but the selective favoritism by mods on who gets to be sarcastic and who doesn't is ridiculous. HUH? He gave a ratonal response to Soul's question. How is that "callng him out" or "selective moderating"? Do tell.
  19. He's one player I hope remains a Cub for his entire career.
  20. I was under the impression that it might have been both demotions that were due to factors other than his play. I remember reading some speculation that he was sent to Iowa due to partying at night, and that being sent to Mesa may have been due to his griping about being sent to Iowa.
  21. All that would do is cause it to rain elsewhere. Don't forget it rained in Arizona when Hill was pitching there too. Iowa's had enough rain this summer; they don't need Hill bringing more. :D
  22. Doesn't matter. Bartman being at a game will neither help nor hurt the Cubs. It's a non-issue that hardly warrants much response (including my own).
  23. Hit less than .100, get promoted. Where do I sign up? :D
