A proven playoff hitter like Alex Gonzalez would have been nice... Too bad we could't have had the hitter Alex Gonzalez without the fielder Alex Gonzalez.
Nice to see them here instead of "other games of interest. \:D/ They should be included in this week's Pick'em contest. I believe that's based on the AP poll, not the USA Today.
I am actually sad that it is highly probable that I will never see another 97 win Cubs team as long as I live. I don't care if I ever see another 97-win regular season. I do care if I ever see an 11-win postseason.
Chris hasn't posted since July 8 and hasn't been logged in at all since Aug. 25. This is the second time he's been away for an extended time within the past year. The previous time I believe it was due to family and/or work issues. I'm not sure about this time. I agree we need to know if he wants to stay in the league and, ir so, if he's committed to keeping up with it.
Hell without his permission they cant tell us anyways can they? No they can't. And the article mentioned that he didn't want to comment on it, so I don't think it's much of a stretch to think he didn't give permission.
He actually signed a contract with the Giants a week or so ago. A one-day contract so he could retire as a Giant. That happens all the time in football, but I haven't heard of that very often in baseball.
The last two nights have shown me the error of my ways. Never again will I say that you don't exist. I believe, I believe, I believe! Now, PLEASE shine favorably upon my beloved Cubbies. Sincerely, Desperate, long-suffering Cubs fan
I'm the one maverick who voted yes so far, but I think the use of the word "content" may be misleading; perhaps "satisfied" would be a better word. I said yes because even a World Series loss would still be the most successful season in my entire lifetime. However, if they make the Series and lose this year, then I'd consider nothing short of a World Series win acceptable for next year.
My second straight loss (I wasn't expecting much this week because I had too many starters out for bye weeks). I'll just follow official NSBB policy: Blame it on CT. :D
I'm up 38 but today's Tigers-White Sox game will count (Tootielicious has Granderson and Dye, I have no one). The potential Twins-White Sox game tomorrow will also count if necessary (Tootielicious has Morneau and Dye, I have no one). Gavin Floyd's start won't count for Tootielicious. I didn't even think of those games counting. They don't count in the Yahoo leagues I'm in.
That was a creative call. At that point, your best friend is the clock, so you call a play that takes as long as possible to run and still leaves the clock running after all is said and done. That play call ate another 5-10 seconds off the clock, so that by the time the Eagles got the ball back, they had maybe 2 plays to work with. Which actually turned out to be one play since the Eagles didn't get out of bounds and didn't have enough time left to spike the ball to stop the clock. I have no problem with that play. It was basically a concession that they considered taking time off the clock to be more important than getting a first down.
