  1. I said Zambrano, Harden, and Soto. Trading Zambrano or Harden would seem to shoot the purpose, since they wouldn't be gaining much. And Soto is the one position player I consider to be untouchable. I'd hesitate to trade Aram, but I don't think I'd consider him to be completely untouchable (although if I were to trade him it would pretty much need to be one-for-one, without trading anybody else besides Aram).
  2. You won't. I love what Ball St. has done this year, but I believe that this year's Boise team is better than the team that won the Fiesta Bowl two years ago. I really don't think that game would be much of a contest. You never know with bowl games. Quite often a game that looks one-sided winds up being much closer than expected or even going the other way. The lengthy layoff between the end of the regular season and the bowl games can cause teams to lose their edge. I'll admit BSU (the one in Idaho) would be expected to handily beat BSU (the one in Indiana), but anything can happen; that's why they play the games. And I'd like to see that matchup for the publicity it would generate regardless of the outcome. I agree with Andy that losing to Boise State would be preferable to beating Wisconsin or Minnesota.
  3. It wouldn't necessarily be in Boise. It could be in Shreveport (Independence Bowl) or Detroit (Motor City Bowl). Both of those are neutral sites which could have a BSU vs. BSU matchup if the pieces fall into place.
  4. One down, one to go. Roll Tide!
  5. One down, one to go. Roll Tide!
  6. Make it happen.
  7. I don't think there are any legal issues. I'm fairly certain Hendry could ask Wood for that. Wood, in turn, could agree or not.
  8. He turned 34 in March. This is Leap Year. He leaped from 34 to 36. :D
  9. It's been that way for years (although the specific networks involved change from time to time). One network (currently FOX) is designated for NFC and one (currently CBS) for AFC. Interconference games are in effect ties, and the tiebreaker is in favor of the road team.
  10. Thanksgiving wouldn't be Thanksgiving without the Lions and the Cowboys playing games. Eventually the Lions will become at least semi-competitive again (the axing of Millen earlier this season may be the first step in the right direction). There was a period of time several years ago (before their resurgence in the 1990s) where the same issue could have been raised about the Cowboys.
  11. It was addressed on the previous page. The deadline is Dec. 1. Actually, that's a slightly different question. The Cubs have until December 1st to offer arbitration. If the Cubs do offer it, Wood has until December 7th to accept it. You're right; I was thinking Cubs offering as opposed to Wood accepting when I replied.
  12. Here's another good site, devoted specifically to Cubs Spring Training. It's operated by Tim Sheridan, Spring Training PA announcer at HoHoKam.
  13. It was addressed on the previous page. The deadline is Dec. 1.
  14. Interestingly they move down in the AP poll, move up in both the USA Today poll and the BCS standings, and they're #15 in all three.
  15. That's a total load of bullhowry. Those computers should be removed from the rankings effective immediately; they have zero credibility.
  16. Yes; they're 6-5.
  17. Lynch was 1-21 over a two year period while he was Ball State's head coach. That should have been all they needed to know. It definitely should have been. But this is the school that has hired Mike Davis, Kelvin Sampson, Lynch, etc. They're not smart. Very true.
  18. Lynch was 1-21 over a two year period while he was Ball State's head coach. That should have been all they needed to know.
  19. nah.. it was cubette or something Cubette14. Her original statement was "It's nice to be important, but more important to be nice."
  20. I do remember him predicting 120 wins one recent year.
  21. As others have pointed out, that scenario is impossible. A BCS conference champion gets an AUTOMATIC bid, and the top two teams in the final BCS poll get AUTOMATIC bids. So in the theoretically possible, but highly unlikely, situation where two teams from the same conference are 1-2 in the final BCS standings, but a third team wins that conference championship, all three teams are in. That's the one and only exception to the maximum two teams from a conference rule.
  22. Or, looking at it sideways, an obscene finger gesture. :D
  23. And I'd be happy with that. They will have done all that's in their control; they can't control what Utah, BYU, Boise State, etc. do. They'd probably have a better chance finishing undefeated and maybe squeaking out a top 10 final ranking by playing a Big 11 also-ran in the Motor City Bowl.
  24. Not sure, but I think this win clinched the MAC conference championship for Ball State. So it's a little bit of a big deal. They haven't clinched yet. They still need to beat Western Michigan next week to win the MAC West outright. If they lose and Central Michigan wins their game next week Ball State, Central Michigan, and Western Michigan will all be tied with one conference loss. And since they's all be 1-1 against each other I'm not sure how the tie would be broken. Here you go: http://www.mac-sports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=9400&KEY=&ATCLID=1148024 Looks like it'll be Central Michigan in the title game. You go all the way to the 4th tiebreaker to determine that. So to try to translate that wording into English, it looks like the deciding factor is which team's opponents from the opposite division had a better record, and CMU would win solely because the schedule-makers had them playing the first-place team in the East (Buffalo) but Ball State didn't play them. Hopefully Ball State makes it a moot point by winning next week.
