  1. Decent. 3 walks in 4 innings is not good but the rest of the line isn't bad at all. Not a game that by itself makes me think he's turned the corner though.
  2. The postseason has absolutely nothing to do with the voting. I know. Thats why I changed my post. Lou is living proof as to why it would be nice if they waited until after the World Series to choose a winner. Even if you changed your post your wording still implies that the voting was after the postseason. He didn't really get the award after two straight 3-and-outs. He got it before the second; it just wasn't announced until after. All of the awards are voted on before the postseason but not announced until after.
  3. I agree with Hightower. I'd want LJ to prove himself before I put him back into the lineup.
  4. I remember there was quite a bit of talk about him becoming the next Cubs' announcer before the job went to Len.
  5. I saw that Score died while watching the Ball State game on the Deuce, but I didn't realize that Roe also died. At least he didn't die prematurely like several of the Boys of Summer did.
  6. I haven't clinched yet, but I'm two games ahead of the first two teams currently out of playoff position with only three weeks remaining, so I feel pretty good about my chances. My running game should be in good shape for the first time all year with Barber back from bye week and Johnson playing against somebody other than the Bears' run defense. This will be the first week all year I don't need to start the likes of Rudi Johnson or Edgerrin James at one of my RB positions.
  7. 5-5 in one league and in 7th place after starting out 5-0. 6-4 in the NSBB league and in 5th place. Very bad running back situations in both leagues, but with hope of improving down the stretch. As a result of trades I now have Reggie Bush and Steven Jackson in one league (both of whom will hopefully be back within the next week or two) and Marion Barber and Chris Johnson in the NSBB league. I had the last pick in the first round in both leagues, so by the time I drafter the top RBs were already taken. Fortunately I had some depth at other positions and was able to trade.
  8. I dropped Kyle Orton in one league because I had Jason Campbell as my starting QB and Carson Palmer as my backup. Dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb!
  9. You missed the worst of them. In 1998 and 1999 (the low point of Bill Lynch's reign of error) they were a combined 1-21. I'll take tonight's win. I thought the pieces were in place for a possible upset (Miami playing at home, against their biggest rival, and focusing on this one game while Ball State had to be thinking of their upcoming games). Miami really shot themselves in the foot, dropping two easy catches (one of which would have been a touchdown) and burning all of their second-half time-outs while there were still over 4 minutes remaining in the 3rd quarter.
  10. Wilkins had two previous half-seasons with the Cubs before his career year. He didn't do it as a rookie like Soto did.
  11. And he ends up getting 4th in the ROY voting. What the ish? This reminds me of several years ago on cubs.com, where a poster kept insisting that Junior Spivey was going to be NL ROY despite the fact that he no longer qualified as a rookie.
  12. Ball State was awesome. I expected them to win, but I didn't expect such a blowout. Next week should be a cakewalk over Miami, then things could get interesting at Central Michigan. Conceivably BSU could go 11-1 in the regular season and not even play for the MAC championship, if they lose at CMU and CMU remains undefeated in the MAC. I believe all three remaining regular season games are on The Deuce.
  13. I picked Texas Tech over Texas. Unfortunately I only gave it one confidence point.
  14. Yes. But I believe that a sandwich pick does not cost the team a draft pick. I believe that was changed this past year. That's why people would rather see Howry be a "B" pick rather than an "A". Teams are more willing to sign "B" players before the arby dates because it doesn't cost them any compensation. That's right. The sandwich picks are additional picks, not picks taken from a team.
  15. Just wait until the Cubs finally make it back to the World Series, and they lose to a Hamilton-managed team.
  16. Ouch. That line is a bit weird though - smells of lots of E's in the field. Actually, no. There was just one error. Most likely that error should have been the third out and all but one of the runs scored after the error, making them unearned.
  17. I agree with RAW. I wouldn't give up on Holt just yet. A problem with that is, I don't want to have 3 Rams WRs on my roster. I also have Berrian and Curtis who I just picked up. I suppose Curtis could be an option but I'm thinking he has more upside in that offense if he can get up to speed. Basically, you can come back from injury, you cannot come back from old. This is wise. Fantasy teams are a little like playing the stock market...putting all of your eggs in one basket is a lot riskier than diversifying. I don't like starting too many guys from the same team, because if that team lays an egg that week, it kills my fantasy team.I have one fantasy team where I have Peyton Manning, Reggie Wayne, and Marvin Harrison on the same team. In past years that combination was gold. This year, however, I've learned not to start them all at the same time. Maybe soon I'll learn not to start any of them.
  18. Talk about ridiculous extremes this past week. One team scored 140.66 points and lost, another team scored 31.3 points and won.
  19. You do realize that 110,000 thousand is actually 110 million, don't you?
  20. Given his willingness to use his NTC and his apparent desire to stay out west, he's not very realistic at all. According to Cot's his full NTC expired after 2006. He can only block trades to eight teams: Baltimore, Boston, Detroit, Tampa Bay, Florida, Milwaukee, Pittsburgh and Washington. I suppose he could threaten to retire, but I'd be surprised if he would. I think he has 10-5 status now. He does. 2008 was his 5th full season with the Padres. Wow. I was thinking it was 3 or 4. Time flies. He was traded by the Pirates to the Padres in Aug. 2003 for Jason Bay, Oliver Perez, and the ever-popular PTBNL.

  22. He is suspended. I hate that; he's on one of my teams too. Unfortunately one of my other RBs on the same team is Reggie Bush, so this week I'm stuck with Julius Jones and whatever piece of Howry I can pick up as a free agent.
  23. Considering how putrid the Colts were against Green Bay and next week they play Tennessee that really might not be such a dumb question.
  24. My offense was putrid this week and I had the third lowest score in the league. Fortunately my opponent had the second lowest score (he started a quarterback in his bye week), so I won by slightly over one point. That's living a charmed life.
  25. Nancy Kerrigan would probably have as much luck with that staff.
