  1. Yes he can. Major league teams frequently wait until the end of the minor league season (including playoffs) for some of their call-ups. I'd be shocked if he isn't up after Iowa's season ends.
  2. Gaylord Perry and Randy Johnson have also won it in both leagues, but it hasn't happened in back-to-back seasons. It's worth remembering that prior to 1967 there was only a single major league Cy Young Award, not separate awards in each league.
  3. I didn't realize that about Made. Basically taking one for the team. I'm not really familiar with him; I don't remember him from earlier in the year when I saw a game at Carolina.
  4. The week was so bad for the ACC, not even the skydivers could get it right. Skydivers who were supposed to land at the UNC stadium landed at Duke instead. http://neswsports.com/2008/08/31/skydiver-duke-north-carolina-mix-up-video/
  5. I think the polls usually come out on Monday. They may be a day late this week because of the holiday.
  6. Tennessee gave up 3 touchdowns and only scored a safety. Carolina 21, Tennessee 2. Veal pitched 4 innings and gave up 10 hits, 8 runs (all earned), walked 4, and struck out 5. The really mind-boggling line is Made, who pitched a whopping 1/3 of an inning, in which he gave up 6 hits, 5 walks, and 11 runs (all earned). Box score
  7. Is there a "drooling" smily? Because that would apply here. =P~
  8. 5 on VT and 4 on Pittsburgh for me. I also picked Clemson over Alabama but only had 2 confidence points on that. Three incorrect picks but only 11 missed points.
  9. This thread can be your friend. :D
  10. I agree; it's totally worthless.
  11. I wouldn't be surprised if Dempster agrees to a contract with a lower salary next year followed by a higher salary after that once Marquis' contract has expired. He wants to stay with the Cubs and he seems to me like someons who would do what it takes (within reason) to be able to stay.
  12. That was us, and I'm insulted by that. NCCubFan, the Navy game next week is on Friday and on ESPN. It is going to be all kinds of awesome. The Cubs will definitely be taking a back seat for me that night (if they even play at night; I don't usually look at the time of the games this far in advance).
  13. So am I, as evidenced by my signature. I wish you'd put "for playoff berth" rather than "for wild card" down there. Assume it a step in the process rather than a goal. But far be it for me to dictate your sig :) I wouldn't have mentioned it if you hadn't. Actually, that does make more sense; I'll change it later tonight when I do my daily update after the Brewers and Cardinals games. They wouldn't really be clinching the wild card when they aren't even in the wild card standings at the time.
  14. only if I'm made a mod so I can ban owners of the teams that beat me At least I wouldn't be banned until week 7. :D
  15. I think he's referring to all the recent rainouts in Florida.
  16. So am I, as evidenced by my signature.
  17. Last year I actually was able to watch the game against Navy on DirecTV. I believe it was on CST. I haven't checked yet to see if it's being televised this year.
  18. Any interest in starting a private forum for this league as an alternative to the Yahoo board? There are private forums set up for some other fantasy leagues.
  19. You're right about him beng a first-round pick and the Cubs getting him for Barrett. I myself haven't seen any talk of converting him to a pitcher, but that doesn't mean there hasn't been any.
  20. I've read that book and it is a good one. I think it would make a good ESPN mini-series.No it wouldn't the Yankees and Sox are not prevelant enough in the book. Nice try though. The Giants are fairly prominent, though, and they were in New York at the time.
  21. Eli's just insurance in case Peyton misses the start of the regular season. If Peyton's good to go from the start Eli is worthless to me; he won't even be a bye week replacement since the Colts and Giants have the same bye week. So Eli will probably eventually become trade bait.
  22. It would be justifiable homicide.
  23. I've read that book and it is a good one. I think it would make a good ESPN mini-series.
  24. I got both Mannings. :P
  25. I know we once had that as a Premium option, along with shadowing and other effects.
