  1. Throughout the 1980s, the NY Mets are legendary for their persuit of the female, regardless if the player is married or not. So what Marmol did has already been done. That is between Marmol and his wife, nobody else.
  2. I watch "scripted" shows and "actuality" shows like Cold Case Files, City Confidential, etc. These "reality shows" are not worth my time.
  3. Agreed. I much rather Theriot shoot those singles into RF like he did last yr, and keep a higher BA/OBP instead of hitting for more power and less contract/OBP.
  4. What I am saying is that Cleveland is an grossly overrated team that is only good because of one player. This series has shown, IMO, Orlando is the better team and when the series is over and the Cavs are at home licking their wounds, people will realize how overrated this Cavs truly was.
  5. I think the series is done, personally. Cleveland should win Game 5, but I think Orlando wraps them up back in Orlando. There were two guys on OTL who talking about Cleveland's fans perception and chances, and one of the guys made an interesting comparasion....he said Cleveland Cavs fans (or sports fans in general) or much like Cubs fans. Titled starved and generally pessimistic about their teams chances at winning even with LBJ. Orlando has exposed what everybody already knew about Cleveland, and that there are a one trick pony, with a very overrated supporting cast. To be fair, outside of a miracle shot by James (and I frakkin' refused to call him that ridiculous nickname) Cleveland is swept out of the conference finals. Again, I think this series is over.
  6. Maybe the naked pic of Steve Stone is the slumpbuster that Mark Grace always alludes to when anybody struggles.
  7. My bad, my smartass detector is on the fritz right now.
  8. Yuck. Reed as the "cleanup hitter" and Micah as the 6th hitter? I think Lou is trying to put out a forfeit lineup. Reed's hit just as many out as Big Papi Not a good enough justification to put Reed in a "run producing" spot in the lineup.
  9. Yuck. Reed as the "cleanup hitter" and Micah as the 6th hitter? I think Lou is trying to put out a forfeit lineup.
  10. I don't know about you but I'd rather be a fan of the 83 win Cardinals team. 116 wins no ring is just depressing. And hey look, Lou was the manager of that team. Not me. 9 out of 10 times an "83 win team" like the 06 Cards are more likely to miss the playoffs or eliminated in the NLDS. While the 2006 Cards and the 2001 Mariners are both flukes, I would still put money on the team who played better during the season to win the World Series over a team that back door it's way to the World Series. Since 2000 the average W/L records of the eventual World Champion has been something close to 95-67. Only two teams since 2000 had wins total under 90 and those teams were the 2000 NYY and the 2006 STL. In other words teams like the 2006 Cards had no business in the playoff, much less winning the title, which means that team was incredible fluky.
  11. Exactly. Firing Hendry won't help the team hit the ball and start winning. Firing Hendry would be a move just to make a move, and those moves more times then not don't work.
  12. Their road trip scoring output was incompetence, not bad luck. A little bit of both. There been games in which they hit the ball hard but right at somebody, and there been games in which they've sleep walk their way through. So, it's a little of both, to be honest.
  13. That is irrelevant. A loss is a loss. A move needs to be made. What the hell has Patton done for us in this seven game losing streak? Get another bat here, pronto. Of course it is, but the fact remains that the Cubs are not as bad as the losing streak suggests, just merely unlucky. As for a move, I agree if you are not going to use David Patton then stop wasting a roster spot on him. The Cubs have more then enough arms in the system to replace Patton (Shark, Gaub, Archer, Stevens, etc), so get Patton out and get another bat in.
  14. I think what people are forgetting is that today's game was the worst game score wise during the 7 game streak. For the most part the Cubs have been in games they just can't get that hit or two to win the game. It is not as if the Cubs are losing 10-1, 7-0, etc, etc. The Cubs are not as bad as this streak might suggest, just unlucky. So you can't reward managers/GM for good luck, but you certaintly cann't scapegoat managers/GM on bad luck.
  15. i think this is the question of the year and the moment his head, and others, really should be on the block and prepared to roll down the stairs when ownership changes You can't fire a GM or a manager or whoever just because you run into a bad stretch of games. Firing them now is nothing more then a desparate move. And what's worse those type firing are moves just to make moves. I understand the status quo isn't working, but firing people just because players are not playing well is not wise. If the Cubs fail to make the playoffs then reevaluate his job AFTER the season, not before.
  16. Time for a name change. I propose we change the name from "Mega Cobs" to "Keystone Cops."
  17. Cubs win this game big. I now this laughable right now, and that's fine, but I am trying to remain optimistic.
  18. I say Yay. The Cubs offense isn't going to be this bad all yr.
  19. Hear, hear. I am no longer mad at the Cubs, it is beyond anger with me. I just sit back and enjoy baseball regardless of how the Cubs are playing. I agree, this bickering with each other because the Cubs are playing crappy really does need to stop. Here's to injecting some optimism into this thread. Come on Cubbies, you can win this game.
  20. Calling up a young man who isn't ready for the big leagues is not only stupid, irresponisble but it can and will get a GM fired once the prospect flames out. We talked about how the Cubs rushed prospects like Corey Patterson and Felix Pie, now to suggest to call up an A Ball prospect because the major league team is struggling is a panic move. You can get away with a gamble if you are Florida, or Oakland, etc, etc, but a major market team like the Cubs cannot and shouldn't take that chance. So to the question of the thread: Yes it would be "outrageous" to call up Josh Vitters.
  21. ATP to give me something to smile about I am rereading the "Chicago Bears offseason thread" from the moment the Bears picked up Jay Cutler. It gives me something to smile about, seeing as the Cubs refused to play this game call baseball.
  22. with the red wings? who's going to fight for them? Haha, good point. Draper? Maltby? That's about it. too bad it's not like the early 90s red wings. me and my friend used to play as them in NHL 93 when we would try to get penalties - we started probert, primeau, mccarty, konstantinov ( :( ) and chiasson. they were really good at getting penalties; one time we got down to 2 skaters and one of them was backup goalie vincent riendeau. didn't chiasson die in a car accident? Yep. He was drunk at the time.
  23. Maybe in a paper, rock, scissor's matchup with the Padres, otherwise, I expect this game to involve negative runs.
  24. Either Pisa visiting Philadelphia was never the plan, or Pisa may not be leaving Chicago without a contract. Hmm...
