  1. Congrats on the sweep. Hopefully either Josh Smith and Joe Johnson, or Dwyane Wade give the Cavs more then they bargin for.
  2. Outstanding draft.
  3. If anybody hasn't notice but both Rondo and Rose has or could have a Trip double today.
  4. QB from Rutgers.
  5. The only thing I know is that Paxson needs to aggressive shop Thomas this offseason. His idiotic decision to hold the ball instead of giving the ball to Rose at the end of the 4th shows why he will never get "it".
  6. I didn't say he would disrupt the team like Chad Johnson has down, but Cincinnati had gotten "supposedly" an offer of two first rd picks for OchoCinco last yr and Mike Brown turned down that offer. But a year older and Johnson has not even remotely gotten an offer to even get Mike Brown to trade Chad. IMO it's a case of holding onto a player a yr too late. Same thing can happen Bolden. Have a subpar yr next yr, and nobody will offer anything more then a 3rd rd pick for the soon to be FA. This is a case of do Arizona want to sell now and get something valuable while Bolden is still valuable, or do you run the risk of Bolden either have a subpar yr or suffer a season ending injury and lose all value for him? But the question I think Arizona is asking themselves is that if they decide to trade Bolden, will Breaston and/or Doucet step up and replace him in the lineup? One last question ask themselves, by drafting a RB like Beanie Wells, does that mean Bolden or Fitz lose touches during the game? I mean there are questions they have to be ask. I say this knowing that Bolden is more likely to stay in Arizona, but I have seen anything definitive that says any Bolden deal is "dead", only Angelo saying he "assumes" the deal is dead. BTB, I think Bears will draft either Murphy or Iglesais tomorrow instead of trading for Bolden.
  7. Considering they have alledgely lower the asking price down to second rd pick plus considerations, I say they could trade Bolden without getting a first rd pick.
  8. I still maintain a straight up trade of Tommie Harris for Anquan Bolden is the best way to go in trades. The Bears get their reciever, and the Cards get an impact DLine who hasn't reached his prime. You mean an unstable, inconsistent, injury prone DT that is already making a ton of money? Or somebody who needs a change of scenery.....it goes both ways.
  9. Not necessarily. Yes they do have some leaverage in trade talks because Bolden is still under contract, BUT two of the best trade opportunities went down today when the Giants (Hicks) and the Eagles (Maclin) elected to address their WR needs via the draft. Another thing, the Cards do not want to have their own Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson situation happen within their organization. While I do not believe Bolden would distract the team, he would definately continually ask out. Again I am not saying it will happen, but stranger things have happen and I've learned---after the Cutler trade---just to set back and let it play out.

  11. At this point you can do both if you are aggressive. You could theortically take the 3rd round pick from Seattle (which is an early 3rd round pick) and next's years 2nd to get Bolden, and then then you can a trade to get back into the lower half of the 3rd round. I read that the whole article about Angelo's interests in Bolden and it imo it was more about the future contract of Bolden more so then giving up picks that gave Angelo pause. Again it's more about do Angelo want to commit to $9 mill to $10 mill per for a reciever? Otherwise, I think Angelos would have pull off the Bolden deal. I'm not saying it can't happen, and most likely the Bears are prolly going to draft Iglesias or Murphy, but anything can happen.
  12. Link Hmm....Angelo may feel the deal is dead but I read that as there is still a possibility that something could happen. It's trickier now without a 2nd rd pick, but perhaps something could still happen. I'm not holding my breathe, but I didn't see a flat out "deal is dead" definitive statement...
  13. You're not the only one who believes Andre Smith's best and long term position in the NFL will be LG, and NOT LT and for the reasons you mention. Personally, I think Dre will be good enough to be a swing OL in the NFL, good enough to play all the none center position on the line, but not a master or Pro Bowl at any one position. Ultimately, LG is prolly Smith's best and future position. Don't be concern about Smith's work ethic. I know his offseason has left a lot of people  , buyt ultimately he was given a great reference by Nick Saban, hence the reason why Andre Smith has remained in the Top 10, even tho he could have dropped out of the Top 10. Dre is a good kid, but he does have maturity issues that I think time will have fixed. Work ethic I have no fears about it. Give the young man a chance before you label him a bust. I think this offseason has been eye-opening experience for Dre. This is a young man who wants to get better, maybe played a diva a bit during his junior yr, but overall was one of the better players in the conference. I have no problem if the Bears took Andre Smith, if that says anything. I remember Chris Samuels (another Tide OL who had maturity ??? after missing a bowl game)a few yrs back (I think 99) had similar question marks about him and he turned out to be a 6X Pro Bowl OL. Not saying he will turn into a Pro Bowler, but I don't him being the next Mike Williams, Robert Gallery, etc, etc. If the Packers don't want Smith, I am more then estatic about that, cause the Bears wouldn't have to face him. But I will say this, Andre Smith will be a fine player in the NFL for a long time.
  14. The Cards have an impact WR who is a three time pro bowl player in Anquan Bolden. The Cards have a need for an impact DT on their team. The Bears have a impact DT (when motivated and healthy he is) who is a three time pro bowl DT in Tommie Harris. The Bears have a need for an impact WR on their team. Both teams have at least two young prospects they like already on the team (Breaston and Doucet for the Cards, Dvorcek and Harrison for the Bears) at the same position. I know this sounds crazy, and I know people will rip it apart, but what about a straight trade of Tommie Harris (who is 25 going on 26) for Bolden (a 28 yr old going on 29)? Seeing as the Bears are taking on the older player who wants an extension, maybe the teams can talk about swapping the Bears 4th rd pick (119) and a 5th rd pick (140) for the Cards 3rd round pick (95th). Or something similar. I am thinking out loud. Maybe it sound stupid but hey, I've seen dumber.
  15. The NFL really needs to change the way rookies are paid. I'm sure this is going to be a major reason why the players association and owners might not come up with a new CBA after this season. maybe, but i bet a lot of current NFL stars who weren't top 10 picks would be happy to introduce a system that places controls on the way that the elite draft picks get paid. elite OTs are not happy with a system that lets jake long be paid more than them without playing a down, for example. you are right that the system does need to be overhauled, though. it's gotten to the point where nobody wants to trade up for a top 5 pick because you have give up draft picks and then sink so much money into a guy who could just be a bust. I think MOST if not all current NFL players would be in favor of a rookie pay scale if it meant adding more dough to their own pocket when it comes to negotiations. Most veterans are losing jobs and/or money because teams spend so much on unproven players. So yeah, I do see the rookie pay scale happening in the NFL real soon, the question will be what the owners will give up to make it happen?
  16. I don't remember where I heard it or saw it, but there been reports that Brandon Jennings has been miserable playing basketball overseas and that he is looking forward to returning to the States. I don't know it that is true, but if it is if Jennings didn't succeed in European I doubt Tyler will.
  17. Yeah. I don't see Tyler doing much in European ball. He'll sit and watch and be paid little.
  18. Wow, indeed.
  19. That would be gross, but maybe still worth it. Aww.......shut up, man. :-)) That ain't right.
  20. Memo to Cutler: Get into Angelo's ear and basically beg him to get Bolden.
  21. If Arizona is TRULY willing to take a 2nd round offer plus considerations for Bolden, I don't understand why the Bears don't jump in. Bolden is clearly better then anybody the Bears could draft at 49 anyways. I don't expect the Bears to take a shot at Bolden, but I wish they would. But if not Chicago, then Tennessee would be a nice fit for Bolden.
  22. Neither would I have a problem if Minnesota took Harvin, because recent draft history suggests Minnesota don't developed WR any better then Chicago or Detroit (ie Rice and Williamson).
  23. Normally I would agree with you, raw, but if you can get a good value pick in the 6th or 7th rounds I think you take a QB late, especially if he is the highest rated player left on the board. I am not particularly impressed with the current Bears backup QB regardless of how much Lovie/Angelo says how much they like a certain backup QB. So if a Nate Davis (for example, and I am sure he won't be there late) is available in the 6th rd, I think you could have great value there. If there isn't a QB you like late in the draft, so be it.
  24. I think that's a smokescreen. Maclin seems to be the kind of "speed" that Undead Al craves. I see Maclin going to Oakland. I would think so too. But I tend to put a decent amount of stock into the Total Access guys. We'll see.
