  1. I know the new owners are prolly going to eventually looked into getting a new stadium, but isn't the biggest problem, location?
  2. rodman was way better than avery is Rodman was liked by his teammate---for the most part---and hated by opponents. Avery is simply hated by teammates, opponents, coaches, fans, refs, his mother, etc, etc. If there is one person that everybody wants to punch in the face, it is Sean Avery. Does anybody actually think his Rangers teammates were thrilled when the Rangers brought him back? I know the Rangers current head coach absolutely did not want him back. I really can't think of another player as universally hated in his sport to compare Avery to. Maybe Ty Cobb. There are certain similarities, but this is a case of red apples .v. green apples.
  3. Outside of the burp a few yrs ago about him cheating on his wife, CJ has been a consumate pro ever since coming up in 1996 (?). It would be nice to see a player play his whole career in one city. And yes, I think CJ is still productive to warrant the contract, and the Braves are definately my sleeper in the East. If the Mets and Phillies sleep on the Braves, they could be in for a major surprise.
  4. in their prime or today? I think Bonds was quicker. Sheffield's entire approach at the plate was more violent and involved more movement, but I think Bonds always had the quicker bat. Can't disagree. Bonds had the quicker bat, but I've never seen anybody with quicker wrists then Gary Sheffield. Eric Davis. Quickest hands ever. Not to me. I mean when you have to do the bat wiggle that Sheffield does, JUST to slow down your wrists, then my god...
  5. You want to shut up guys like Schlereth, remind him of the John Elway trade. Broncos send: Mark Hermann (a fourth rd QB from Purdue) ,Chris Hinton and Ron Solt (two frist rd picks in the 1984 draft) Colts send: John Elway. You notice the similarity between the Elway to the Broncos and Cutler to the Bears trades? The Broncos took a bigger risk then the Bears, because at the time of the trade Elway wasn't proven as NFL QB. The only guys at ESPN that seems to approve of the deal from the Bears perspective are Mike Golic and Mike Greenberg.
  6. I don't think Plax is stupid, misguided, but not stupid. With that said, if the Patriots can get Randy Moss to toe the line in New England, the Bears could have a chance with Plax. Besides all the Bears would need Plax for is about 2 yrs. This way both Hester, Bennett, and Olsen can developed as playmakers without having to carry the offense. After two yr, this should further enough along that the training wheels can come off.
  7. What does a Pro Bowl QB supposed to look like?
  8. Sounds like a typical athlete interview in a situation after just switching teams. I rather him do the typical "athlete interview" instead of causing contreversy on his first with the club.
  9. Anybody watched NFL Live tonight? I swear it was a rerun of Thursday's episode, but apparently, seeing as theyshow Jay's press conference. You would think 24 hours after the trade maybe, just maybe Schlereth would research the topic a little more and be more informed about his opinions, but apparently not. This guy is sticking to his guns. If Schlereth doesn't like the trade be a man and say it, but his "opinions" is so frustrating because it is uninformed. Oh well, put up 4,000 yrds in 09 Cutler, and make Schlereth eat his words.
  10. Yes, yes it is. (Nice ML quote there) I'm really excited now. I want playoff hockey NOW! Here you go, =D> I had one of those when I was a little shaver. It had all the team logos around the boards. And it had the original Colorado franchise, the Rockies. I feel old. I can remember playing the table hockey with the ole "USA .v. Soviet Union" logos on the game. Ahhh memories.

  12. We have a :starwars: duel as to who is better Gathright or Tony Gwynn, Jr. Sit back and enjoy the ride, SSR. It's not that at all... Just sarcasm over some terrible reasoning... Ok, but it was definately amusing as to why two people were debating who is less crappy Gwynn, Jr or Gathright.
  13. I don't care what Burress did, I want him. That said, I know there is no chance it will happen. Agreed. Personality wise Plax and Tom Coughlin simply could not coexist. I think there is a good chance that Plax could be a better fit with a Lovie Smith as his head coach. With that said, I would put Plax on a short leash.

  15. Not that great once we sign Tory Holt. :beg: Nah you still have to draft a WR, maybe not as high, but still draft one if you sign Torry Holt. At this point in his career, Holt is nearing the end and you can't count on Holt to be anything more then a Bobby Engram type slot/possession reciever. If either a really good WR is still available in the 2nd rd, take him. Unless we're talking Kenny Britt, I'd rather draft with an eye towards, FS, DT, or DE* *Assuming we were to get Holt. No Holt and WR would definitely be in consideration if it weren't too much of a reach. I'd propose something like this (not sure on the draft slot of guys, but it's just there as an idea anyways) 2- Jarron Gilbert - San Jose St - DL 3- Rashad Johnson - Alabama - S 4- Ramses Barden - Cal Poly - WR 5- Nate Davis - Ball State - QB 5- Michael Bennett - Texas A&M - DE 6- Brandon Hughes -Oregon St - CB 7- Dave Philistin - Maryland- LB 7- Ramon Foster - Tennessee - OL Maybe OL earlier, and QB later. Perhaps another DB over LB. But in general, something along those lines, along with signing Holt would make me content. If we can't get Holt, I'd like something like this: 2- Brian Robiski - Ohio St - WR 3- Rashad Johnson - Alabama - S 4- Chris Baker - Hampton - DT 5- Deon Butler - Penn St - WR 5- Michael Bennett - Texas A&M - DE 6- Brandon Hughes -Oregon St - CB 7- Ramon Foster - Tennessee - OL 7- Best QB I don't disagree. But if I had a choice, I would go Rashad Johnson. Not because he's an Alabama boy, but because Shad to me reminds me a lot of Mike Brown, a ballhawking free saftey who is extremely smart and trustworthy player. Johnson and Steltz or Payne would be really good pair of safeties. My only concern with RJ (and trust me, Alabama is going to miss his leadership very much on defense) is his body, is he big enoguh to play 16 games? If he is, who would be one helluva value pick in the 2nd rd. If not RJ, Baker for DT, or Robiske (Holt or no Holt) would be fine with me in the 2nd rd.

  17. I absolutely love the remark the thought the Bears "got worse" after the trade. no Mark, no they didn't. Finding weapons to help Cutler in Chicago is easier then finding a franchise QB who is available. I used to like this man, but today he has been the biggest blowhard at ESPN. At least Dilfer admits that feels the Bears are a better today with the trade. Just shut up Schlereth, you are embarrassing yourself.
  18. Roc Hoover is definately blowing a lot of crap today. It is as if he couldn't find a legit reason to hate the trade so he makes up a reason. Cause anybody with a brain and eyeballs that is working knows, Chris Williams and Orlando Pace > Tait and JSC. Period. While I do agree that Schelerth believes the Bears do not have a #1, to suggest that all of the Bears current WR are #3 at best is flat out ridiculous. IMO, both Hester and Bennett are no worse then #2's in this league. Having a #1 is nice and I would love to have a #1 WR (those are very rarely available, and the Bears were looking a franchise QB like Cutler was available), but it's not mandatory, it really isn't. I think Schelerth is pissed that his beloved Broncos were forced to trade an unbelievably talented QB---pre-prime---for basically .50 on the dollar value.
  19. Two words: Dominique Wilkins. Had Dom not been plagued with injuries 91-92 on, he could have seriously challenged MJ as best in the league. In fact some of his numbers rivalred Kobe. So yes, MJ did have to compete against someone as good as Kobe.
  20. Cutler also is good buddies with Williams and lobbied for him on draft day last year, apparently. That's a lot to give up, hopefully the OL protects him until the rest of the team is improved and then the Bears can do some damage. :) Personally, the Bears didn't give up too much. The Bears don't do well with first rd picks (Haynes, Grossman, Enis, Terrell, McNown, and the list goes on) and seeing as Urlacher, Harris and Williams are the only three 1st rd picks still on the roster that the Bears picked, it is obviously the Bears don't highly value the first rd pick. They are also thinking that if everything goes to plan then next yr's first rd pick will be closer to the low 20, high 30s (a low first rd pick or high 2nd rd pick however you view it), which means next's yr's first rd pick has higher value this yr, then it could have next yr. Think of it of as selling high. Orton is a serviceable, capable NFL QB who is going to be a FA after next season. The ONE pick that seems to hurt the Bears the most, is including the 3rd round pick. The Bears are prolly one of the best team at finding quality players (or NFL starting players) beyond the first rd. So for the Bears giving up a 3rd pick is akin to another team giving up a 1st rd pick. So, IMO, the Bears gave up two picks they don't like and would have lower value (2 first rd picks) if they waited, a serviceable QB, and a mid 3rd pick. To me, the Bears got a bargain for a Pro Bowl caliber QB.
  21. I've said since the problems between Cutler and the Broncos arosed, that if Angelo didn't make a serious offer and/or acquired Jay Culter, he should resign as GM and leave Chicago. Since he did acquired Cutler, he has bought himselfmore time to build this thing up.
  22. I don't want Basanaz or Heine as backup QB. I don't really want to draft a rookie QB to be 2nd string QB. So that leaves either a vet FA QB, or a QB that is one th market. I know the Dolphins are basically giving away John Beck (former 2nd rd pick) for any pick), but I am not thrill with that option. There some names on the FA market that could interests the Bears (Leftiwch and Losman could be interesting options as backup QBs)such as Kyle Boller, Charlie Frye, Byron Leftwich, JP Losman, Patrick Ramsey. Should the Bears look for one of these options, or wait till later in the summer and see if there are any other decent options available?
  23. To be fair they've had some really good players graduate to the majors last half decade or so. Guys like FRod, Weaver, Santana, Saunders, Kendrick, Figgins, Mathis, Napoli, etc, etc. The major disappointments have been Aybar, Callaspo, WOOD (ESPECIALLY), Morales. Their farm system has been pretty good since 2000.
  24. Mark Schlereth thought it was crazy how Bears fans could be excited when we lost our two starting tackles from last year. Nevermind the fact they were terrible and we've replaced them with what are likely better options this year. No offense to Schlereth, but I doubt he even knows the other moves we've made this offseason. We've upgraded both our tackle positions significantly. I like Schlereth, but he (more so then Dilfer) came off as being unprepared. He said if you could name the Bears starting WR then you are lucky. He also remarked that Lloyd and Davis as the Bears starters? puh-lease. Lloyd was on a one yr deal, unlikely to return, and Davis would be lucky if he is on the Bears come the 09 season. As for the tackles situations.......Pace with Williams going to LT and the signings of Omiyale and Shaffer > Tait and JSC at T, and Metcalf as backup. I'm not saying the OL is the greatest in the world, but the OL is better today then it was at the end of the season. I do agree with both in that there is still some work to be done with the offense, but the major ??? was at QB and that has been solved. I am a believer that whoever gets the BP in the deal is generally the winner of the deal. Cutler>Orton and unknown draft picks.
  25. Even if the Bear somehow signs Holt, I still think the Bears should draft a WR like Britt or Nicks in the 2nd rd.
