  1. Since 2001 Angelo 4 most favorite positions to draft are: WR, LB, OL, and DL. If there isn't a DE or a S available, then my money will be on an OL or WR taken in the third round. The best available player between DT( orv DE) or WR would be the smart money to go.
  2. Agreed. But as much as I hear it from Cards fans that they stole Lou Brock from the Cubs, I like to throw it back at them that they was taken by the Phillies in the Steve Carlton trade. Now don't get me wrong, they got two really good yrs out of Rick Wise (only 2 yrs with the club) that is still two more yrs then what the Cubs got for Lou Brock (a serviceable pitcher, and a former MVP who was in his last yr as a pro). And we stole Ryne Sandberg from the Phillies. It's the circle of life of baseball trades. Each team got a HOF player without giving up much to get them. As for the comment about Green saying that Sandberg was the actual target and not the throw-in, but they reverse it to keep Sandberg from feeling the pressure to perform, he could be right. Larry Bowa was a horrible offensive player for the Cubs (in his career generally). In his career Bowa never got his BA over .267, or his OBP over .312 or his slg over .339.
  3. oh boy I wonder if you see what I see You know SOMEONE had to make the joke eventually. So I figure let's get the joke out of the way NOW, and move on.
  4. I do appreciate Milton Bradley. I appreciate Battlestar, Monopoly, Yahtzee, Scrabble, and I really appreciate Trivial Pursuit. Sorry, someone HAD to make the Milton Bradley joke, and I do like those games. With that said, I hope Bradley stays healthy and puts up a line he did last yr with Texas.
  5. What about the final piece of the triplets..........Michael Bourne? To be honest, I'd rather give WWE's Evan Bourne (aka Matt Sydal) a glove and see what happens than any of the above... =D>
  6. What about the final piece of the triplets..........Michael Bourne?
  7. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UsKzAEh-BCM I said it before the yr, Rose to Thomas would be the EC version of Paul to Chandler. If T2 would get his crap together he can be so much better then Chandler.
  8. I agree. Every draft there is a few players that people "thought" were first rd picks, but by draft day they fell (ie Alain Branch and Alex Brown are a couple that fit this bill, imo) for whatever reason. So there is reasonable hope that a Kenny Britt or a Akeem Nicks could still be there in the 2nd rd. So yes, I like the idea of taking BPA instead of pigeonholding for a specific need.
  9. praying for a playoff spot? seriously? it would be almost impossible for them to blow the playoffs. and why are you waving goodbye to the thought of the hawks being a dangerous team in the playoffs? they just outplayed and beat the best team in the nhl for the second straight time. they also have 6 points in their last 4 games. Frustration. If this team plays to their ability, then yes they will be a dangerous team. But the last month, they haven'[t shown they can be that dangerous team. It takes more then a lucky win against a great team to convince me otherwise.
  10. Lucky win, but hell a win is a win. But let's face facts this team needs to pull it's collective heads out of their butts and start playing to their potential. Enough Debbie Downer, good win Hawks. Don't............ever...........do that.........to me..........again.
  11. :-)) at the Blackhawks. ](*,) at the fact you blow a 3 goal lead. :beg: for a playoff spot. at the thought of the Hawks being a "dangerous" team in the playoffs. I smell "epic fail" for the Hawks. I don't want to believe that, but come on my Cubbie cynicism won't allow me to think otherwise for the Hawks.
  12. Not at all unpredictable, that a promising young arm would be lost because the Cubs have to find space for overpaid veteran relievers with no roster flexibility. It's a real shame they trade Marquis for an immovable object. Actually, jersey the way I look at it is that the Cubs are prolly going to lose two "promising young arms" because of Gaudin and Viz. Unless Guzman gets mysteriously injured at the end of spring training, the Cubs would lose both Patton and Guzman, and that proposition sickens me, because both Gooz and Patton have higher upsides and future with the Cubs that Gaudin and Viz doesn't.
  13. The guy who drafted most of the now works for the Cubs. He0y [-X we don't need that kind of rough play around these parts, Jake. Most are trying to forget that person working for the Cubs. No need to bring it up.............. :D
  14. Because he has the mandatory 300 wins.....like d'uh..... 8-) Isn't that what media has been telling us?
  15. It was pointed out in another thread that Harvey would have needed to agree to becoming a pitcher, and apparently he didn't want to do so. If that is the case, then Harvey prolly will never see the majors.
  16. If you have to ask the question, then no said player is not a HOFer. IMO. You KNOW Maddux is a HOFer. You KNOW Randy Johnson is a HOFer. You KNOW Tom Glavine is a HOFer. But you have to ask if Curt Schilling is a HOFer? That right there answers your question. With that said, Don Sutton is in the HOF, and I don't think he is a HOFer. So if Sutton is a HOFer then Schilling certaintly is. I think Curt Schilling is a borderline HOF and unlike Smoltz (who should and will get in) Schill may have to wait awhile, if ever, to get the call.
  17. Me likey, and prolly most likely. Patton has definately pitched himself onto the Cubs staff. At worst, the Cubs should find a way to keep him (ahem, perhaps trade Guzman to the Rockies so that the Cubs can keep Patton). I don't like Cotts, even as the token LHP, and I wish teamS would learn that you don't need to keep a crappy lefty just because you need a lefty. Heilman has made Gaudin exependable. Vizcaino has no spot in the bullpen, IMO.
  18. With this organization you can't get anything confirmed.
  19. Let's night was more about the Bulls losing then the Lakers winning. Because the Lakers basically won the game with their scrubs.
  20. Based on that quote, I wouldn't be happy with the Bears drafting White. I wouldn't mind drafting White in the 3rd round or so, but any higher and it would be a mistake.
  21. Corey Patterson and Felix Pie both proved that you need more the "raw potential" and "athleticism" to play MLB baseball, you need...ahem...actually baseball skills.
  22. NM, I saw this game is on 1 hour tape delay. Nothing to see here.
  23. I know I don't mean it, but unless "it" clicks on, the Hawks are looking like a one and done playoff team. Which would disappointing considering how well they played in December/January.
