  1. Just when the Cubs get a solid outing by Heilman, they get a crap outing by Marmol.
  2. remember the daryle ward monster homer? that was like, the best thing ever, i think that was a harden start too Carlos Zambrano's start.
  3. GMs say that every year, and then every year almost nothing happens in August. Really the ONLY position the Cubs need to get anything from is 2B.....
  4. Good to see the Cubs get a "Foxtrot" tonight.
  5. To me it feels like the kind of game in which the Cubs get a 3 run homerun in the 8th or 9th to win the game. By Darryl Ward off of Kevin Gregg. So..........Hoffpauir off Leo Nunez then?
  6. To me it feels like the kind of game in which the Cubs get a 3 run homerun in the 8th or 9th to win the game.
  7. Absolutely not. Hendry recently said he expects players to be able to get through the waiver due to finanical reasons. So I don't think Hendry was worried about getting something done today. I hate the fact that there is such an early "deadline" time, but that is nitpicking. It wouldn't be shocking if the Cubs do pick up a guy like Teahen shortly in August.
  8. In reference to the Martinez deal. Hagadone was the Sox No. 3 prospect entering the season according to BA. Sounds like Cleveland did REALLY well in getting two live arms for Victor Martinez.
  9. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/9875596 Apparently neither Buchholz or Bard will be in the Victor Martinez deal. I wonder if prospects like Lars Anderson or young pitchers Delcarmen or Justin Masterson will be.
  10. Depending on Lowell's hip, I think you might see Youk alot more at 3rd for the rest of the yr with Martinez playing first/spelling Varitek at catcher (then BoSox then can let Varitek go after the season).
  11. It'll be interesting to see who Cleveland gets. I would bet Clay Buchholz is in the deal.
  12. But if the Cubs get draft picks for Grabow (if hey offered arb) then their is a chance the draft picks would >>>>>>>>Ascanio and Harrison.
  13. Am I off base in comparing Tim Alderson to Jesse Foppert?
  14. You see they were trying to make Dempster go to rehab but he said, "No, no, no."
  15. Unfortunately "Bartman" is not going away until the Cubs win the World Series. ESPN seems to think that Cubs fans hate Bartman for his role, when in reality most actually have pity towards the young man. Jeffrey Meier cheats in a game (trying to catch a baseball that was still in play) between NY and Baltimore is treated like royalty in NY and through ESPN, yet Bartman going for a FOUL BALL and is hounded merciless by ESPN. I don't know why the Yankees needed to create the "YES Network" cause they already had a netowrk call ESPN.
  16. mlb I think from their perspective, they don't have to trade him, so why sell extremely low. If somebody will give decent value it makes sense for them to trade him, otherwise he's not getting paid a ton and he might hit an extended hot streak to peak his value. I was for getting Hermida in the offseason as a buy low alternative, but now, the Cubs DON'T need Hermida and I would prefer they move on.
  17. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/chi-31-cubs-trade-chicago-jul31,0,4547570.story Seems to me that Grabow has been throwing the ball real well lately.
  18. A better deal then I anticipated, especially considering the anxiety over who was going in the deal.
  19. Absolutely. At this point I look at that deal as simply being Nolasco for Pierre. Pinto stinks and is really a lefty reliever, and Mitre is a journeyman pithcer. Bad deal all around, but we don't know what we could have gotten for Mitre/Pinto and seeing as neither were all that highly rated, I doubt we could have gotten much for either.
  20. Well the last two games were kinda of neat. Seeing the Cubs absolutely destroy pitchers they should destroy (Hampton/Ortiz) is a great site to see.
  21. Hendry doesn't have that problem. How else would we have stole Juan Pierre? He gave a lefty reliever, prolly at best a #2 starter, and already journeyman starting pitcher. All in all not a total crapfest of a deal. Pretty bad, prolly he worse deal---legitimately---but not one that push the Cubs back all that much.
  22. So..........the media is blowing this out of proportion? Well colour me shocked.
  23. what!? if the trade looks lopsided, folks are free to criticize it. i don't see anyone here talking about how they won't be able to go have drinks with these guys anymore because they are gone. So be it, but we haven't officially seen names (alledgely one pitcher was pull from a start) associated with this trade. If trading Jackson for Grabow and letting Grabow leave after the season and picking up a couple of draft picks then it would be worth the trade.
  24. This is why nobody on this board is "qualified" to be a GM of a professional baseball team. Right or wrong, people get attach to certain prospects and when that said prospect name is used in trade talks, people goes nuts. You have to have a certain detachment when you are a GM. I would hate to lose Jackson, but he is not one I would lose sleep over.
