  1. Great news. Now get in game shape and get ready for the Bears. Here's to Olin taking "the rook" to the woodshed on opening night. :D
  2. At this point, not gettting swept by the Pirates would be kinda surprising. This "team" is laughable right now.
  3. I love the quote for the Lions at 31 saying, "at least there not the Bears." That's entertainment. Did anybody read the response section of the post?
  4. This game feels like a loss, and the series is definately a sweep.
  5. I went to bed about 8 pm and not once did I feel the Cubs could win this game at all even with a old Pedro on the mound. I checked out the final score of the game and I hate to say it but it didn't surprise me. I love the fact that the Cubs pitching staff has giving up 10+ runs in three out of the last four games. The Cubs are definately at the crossroads of their season. If they don't start showing some pride and start playing better baseball then September will be a LOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNNG month. At this point, I don't care if they win or lose.
  6. Well, losing this game is an option, it really is. It is one I do not prefer, but it is an option.
  7. Y'all might also become as obnoxious as BAMA fans and their "cult of Bear". One of the old jokes is what do BAMA fans and worms have in common? - they can both live off dead bears for decades.
  8. So the Cobs are going to leave the bases loaded at least 7 of the 9 innings? Gotcha.... ;) I was going to say 20 hits, 10 walks, and 2 runs.
  9. It's good to know that Cubs starting pitchers have to be extremely perfect in their starts cause the offense isn't going to bail them out.
  10. I remember Nomar's home debut was on WGN against the Phillies and Maddux was going for 300. It seemed like every time the crowd saw Nomar they gave him a standing ovation, and I remember when he had a clutch hit late in the game to ice it, the place was rocking. Great times.
  11. that made me sad and angry The ending to that season sucked, but it was still a fun season. We all know why the Cubs fail to make the playoff that season, but it doesn't take away from the great moments of the season. I will never, EVER forget Nomar's debut at Wrigley (ovation all day long for him) or Maddux's 300. I can still listen to that song.
  12. Except as a corner OF they are not 12 million dollar players. At CF it's debatable. according to the major league split. The difference between the average RF compared to the average CF is between 30-40 points of OPS Rios will play CF this yr and most think he is the eventual replacement to Dye in RF. Rios in RF= bad contract for his production. Rios in CF=tolerable contract for essential a league average at the position player. So if the Sox move him back to RF starting in 10 then this is awfully big gamble.
  13. Please tell me that this is sarcastic. yes and no.
  14. At least Pat Kane didn't tell the cabby the standard athlete/celebrity question of: do you know who I am?
  15. I don't have the stomach to get optimistic again this yr. I will be satisfied if the Cubs can keep the Phillies to under 30 runs in the series.
  16. He's not a great hitter, but he is undervalued I don't think he's undervalued, he's overpaid, but not undervalued.
  17. Rios plays better defense, younger, and plays CF Which makes him a really solid 4th OFer, not a $60 million dollar man. White Sox are not going to like this deal as he is getting older.
  18. touchdowns? 21 runs, d'uh.. :) Actually 3 TD's is only 18, but you also thought Bama would kill Utah. Wel, actually I assume the "extra points" would be made as to the 21 runs. And second I said Bama should beat Utah handedly, not kill. With that said, Bama loss to Utah is no more upsetting then Oklahoma's loss to Boise State,or USC's loss to Stanford. It happens. With that said, here's to the Cubs beating Colorado.
  19. Wow, the White Sox picked up a younger yet worse version of Alfonso Soriano. Rios is a career .786 OPS OF, whereas Soriano is a career .840. If the Cubs fans are rough on Soriano, then the White Sox are going to kill Rios.
  20. touchdowns? 21 runs, d'uh.. :) Again, I said it's unlikely, so consider it wishful thinking.
  21. I have never seen a season has horrendously called as this year. Which means full blow instant replay will be coming very soon.
  22. I know it won't happen but the Cubs are truly due a complete laughable game. I would like to see the Cubs put up 3 TDs tonight. Again I know it won't happen, but.....
