  1. I'm just glad that the Cubs don't have to come back to this rat house of a ballpark again this yr.
  2. With the way Heilman has pitched this season, I pray that Hendry cut ties with Heilman this offseason. The Cubs have to have better options then Heilman in the org.
  3. Most of the article is pretty far-fetch, but who is too say it can't be revisited through waivers? Buster Olney once pined that alot of high salary players should/could make it through waivers without being claimed because a lot of teams are finanically handcuff. IMO there are only two AL contending teams that have both needs and wants at 2B; the Angels and the White Sox. And with the White Sox having waiver wire priority, Roberts would be almost the iciing on the cake for them. Could you imagine the WS fans if they could acquire Roberts after getting Peavy? Talk about annoyance to a NEW level. And that is the kind of jab both Kenny and Ozzie loves to take against the Cubs. So I would definately bank on the White Sox putting a claim on, only if they don't like Chris Getz enough at 2b. But if not the Angels would be a team THAT could put a claim on Roberts, and they do have the prospects to get it done. As for the NL, Giants (Sanchez), Dodgers (Hudson), and Barmes (Rockies)--even tho Barmes sucks the Rockies are not going to add that kind of payroll---don't need a 2B. NL Central has the Cards and the Brewers already with solid 2B options (Schumaker/DeRosa and Felipe Lopez) and no other team in the NL Central would put a claim on for Roberts. As for the East, the Phillies have Utley, the Mets are both out of it, IMO and Castillo, the Braves would be an interesting watch seeing as Kelly Johnson sucks, but Martin Prado has been productive (.310 .372 .468 .840) which would basically eliminate the Braves. Which means there would be a fighting chance that the O's and the Cubs could revisited talks, if there were talks to begin with? All this hot air is for nothing if AMP can't convice Angelos that trading Roberts is in the organization best interests.
  4. Florida, Milwaukee, and Arizona to the AL for KC, Baltimore, and Seattle. Deal.
  5. I get that Koyie Hill needs a break, I really do, but I don't trust Fox catching Dempster making his 2nd start off the DL. I really don't. I also don't think Piniella wants to do that. I know it would be a inconvienence to Iowa, but getting a guy like Chris Robinson up to relive Hill for at least 2 games in Cincinnati is prolly a better deal for the Cubs then having Fox masquerading as a C.
  6. Normally I would agree, but I hate the thought of having to bump both Heilman and Shark (if he isn't option back to the minors) into roles there are not suited for.
  7. That's what I am thinking with ARam. I think ARam will be restricted to pinch-hitting duties on Sunday with Fox playing third.
  8. How the hell do you go from getting 2 outs easily to facking tied?
  9. The 2nd K, Gregg basically told the hitter to "hit it if he could" and obviously the batter couldn't.
  10. This game could end 10-3, but it would be much closer then the score indicates. But by all means offense, more runs please, preferably the 3 the pitching gave up at the minimum.
  11. Oh great...Shark pitching at Land Shark Stadium. I wonder where Greg Norman is? (
  12. Get him through 5 and pull him and pray the bullpen has their game and the offense continues to score.
  13. No you're not. You don't want to know what kind of game this feels like to me, but I won't mentioned it. Suffice to say, I want 8-15 runs tonight.
  14. People talk about Olsen having a breakout yr, but I could also see Clark return to his 06-07 level with Cutler.
  15. Matt Holliday hitting like a world beater+Cardinals missing the playoffs=Matt Holliday playing for the Yankees or Red Sox in 2010. That would be hilarious. Out Brett Wallace and they don't keep Holliday. Considering Matt Holliday is a FA and his agent is Scott Boras I say that is a distinct possibility. Not to mention I believe I heard LaRussa and Duncan are also "Free agents" this offseason....... I bet you LaRussa and Duncan don't go anywhere. That would be the best thing that could ever happen to us if they do leave though. Yeah it would be, and I agree I doubt they'll leave. But I have a gut feeling that had St. Louis NOT acquired Holliday then it could had been a real possibility.

  18. And the Reds fans around the nation is a doing a collective #-o .
  19. Sage Rosenfels, come on down (Brad Childress is on his way to Mississippi, on his knees begging and pleading his case to Favre to come back.)
  20. I wonder what is the percentage that Peavy will demand a trade from the White Sox (as per his right as a player traded during the middle of his contract) after the season? :-k Considering the manager, I would put it at 65% chance of Peavy demanding a trade after the season.
  21. We will always have that ONE yr in which he was unbelievable and arguably robbed of a Cy Young.
  22. nbcsports.com the most trusted source in sports.
  23. We got Zambrano and Dempster the next two games. Crazy gut feeling is we get both games.
  24. The simple truth is that if the Cubs want to win this division they HAVE TO get better on the road. Seeing as the Cubs have more road games then home games remaining on the schedule.
