  1. Isn't he out of baseball? I agree though...Choi got pretty screwed during his time in the majors. Choi currently plays for the Kia Tigers in the South Korean KBO League. And talk about feeling old, HS Choi is already 30 years old.
  2. I'm not worried about the Astros. The lack pitchers outside of Oswalt and @home Wandy Rodriguez, so no I'm not concern about the Astros, because they are unlikely (financial restraints) to make any moves to upgrade their team.
  3. That's more of a prediction moreso then anything. Nothing substantial just repeating what the deal would look like. At this moment I don't see Oakland trading Holliday before next week.
  4. If you think that is fun consider this: Tonight is bowling night, ok. I had a pretty good night bowling a 660 series, the GUY I happened to bowl against shot a frikkin' 823 series. For those who is counting, yes that DOES include a 300 series. (Yeah me.) What makes this a White Sox related topic is that the guy was a WHITE SOX fan. So imagine what I heard ALL night when I wasn't getting beaten down on the lanes. Great night.
  5. This is unfortunate news for Meph. No way, man. Tebow is "saving himself" for Erin Andrews, he is simply bidding his time because he doesn't want to become the Tony Romo of college football.
  6. If Oakland and St. Louis are discussing Holliday, I prefer they would be discussing either Thanksgiving or Christmas.
  7. So you don't want a reliever who has an era under 2 and a whip under 1? :-k Call me crazy but he would be an asset to the bullpen. Want to bet on where his #s finish? Maybe, but he'll be easier to acquire then a guy like Beimel, Burnett, or Sherrill.

  9. Agreed. The Giants are extremely weak on the offensive side of the ball, and I don't understand why they are not trying harder to acquire a big bat. Dunn would be a great fit for them.
  10. is Arthur Rhodes really still around? Yep, he has put up some really good numbers for the Reds.
  11. George Sherrill is a middle reliever/set up man disguised as a closer, plain and simple. And looking at his numbers---career wise---he seems to be a left handed version of Kyle Farsnworth in that he alternates good and mediocre yrs. The O's are trying to pimp Sherrill out as the best "Available" closer on the market, when most likely most teams already have closers. Besides there is a guy in Cincinnati I think would be a better fit in Arthor Rhodes (2009 stats: 1.67ERA/0.990whip in 40 games), that wouldn't cost the Cubs an arm and a leg and a player that the Reds wouldn't necessarily have to hold onto if they can get a couple of pieces for the future. While I doubt McP is going to ask for what those knuckleheads at OH are asking for, I just hope Hendry realizes that there is just a good of a candidate sitting right there in Cincy as Sherrill.
  12. I agree with TF here and agree that BoSox should have turned down that offer. For as much crap that BBTN spews on and on about Boston's "depth" at pitching, they've only got two effective starters that are healthy. Beckett----3.42/1.14 Lester-----3.87/1.29 Wakefield-4.31/1.38* Dice-K----8.23/2.20* Penny----5.02/1.50 Smoltz----6.31/1.44 *both on DL. On the surface Boston should have made the trade, but looking a bit deeper Boston should not make the Buchholz/Martinez deal, because the Red Sox need Buchholz more then they need Martinez. So Boston was right not to make this trade.
  13. After watching these videos, LBJ has definately earned him the nicknamed "The Tool" for his and NIKE's overreation over a so-so dunk.
  14. I prefer Verlander. I know alot of guys on this site would take the "easy way out" and chose a soft tosser, but come on "man up" and chose a tougher assignment. I'd go with Verlander. Man up? Please. All you're going to do is embarrass yourself. I imagine he'd get 2 strikes on you and then bounce a curve ball about 50 feet and you'd flail away like you had a shovel in your hand. Come on, my friend, I rather try and fail against a major league pitcher (which I wouldn't BTW), then try and succeed against a guy who should be playing slow-pitch softball at 45 plus yrs young.

  16. Yes, but it goes to show there is no such thing as "not a chance", or "absolute won't happen." I don't really want Phillips, since he is kind of overrated. I was just trying to say to reds44 that he may feel "not a chance" of a Phillips to a Cubs trade, there is no way you can say 100% not a chance in sports.
  17. Paul Bettany's brother, I see.
  18. No. There's no chance. I've learned that is baseball there is no such thing as "no chance", "never", etc. If Mike Piazza can be dealt from the Marlins to the Mets, if Boston/NYY can make a trade with each other, or even SD/LAD make a trade, or Alex Rodriguez can be traded in the prime of his career, then anything's possible. With that said, I seriously doubt the Cubs are interesting, so the point is moot.
  19. I can hear it now....during the next Boston/NY series and when Chris gets called up the announcers are going to not only play up the Yankees/Red Sox rivalry, but a Chris .v. Shelly Duncan "battle of the brothers." Cannot wait for that..
  20. Is there a chance the Cubs could get Phillips? Yes. But due to certain mitigating factors, I highly doubt it.
  21. Watching the United Nations outfield do their "jump for peace" is a sight I want to see more of, Cubs.
  22. Probably since Moyer hasn't thrown a complete game in 4 decades He's due then.
  23. Am I the only one who thinks Jamie Moyer is going to no hit the Cubs tomorrow?
