  1. why would they want our crappy players. Vitters is a harveyesque bust. Jay Jax is nothing more than a 3 on a bad AAA team, H-J Lee couldn't start in the KBL and Marshall is worthless. You forgot the green font, dude. Besides, the biggest and most legitimate reason why the Cubs won't get Halladay is purely financial.
  2. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/guess Not trying to be a jerk, but...........
  3. And if Bradley wasn't in a season long slump, the Cubs would be in 1st by the same amount of games if not more. This "if" game brings on more frustration then anything. Bradley is a good hitter, so I don't know what it is, but my guess is Bradley wanted to impress Cubs fans from the start (trying to justified the contract) and did things he wasn't capable of doing, and it snowball from there.
  4. I think this is the most certain thing that will happen at the deadline. But my guesses: 1: Erik Bedard to the Dodgers for a couple of prospects. (Halladay is highly unlikely to be moved) 2: The Cards trade Ankiel, Wallace and a prospect to the A's for Matt Holliday. 3. Braves trade Javier Vazquez to the Rangers for Hank Blalock. I don't think Holliday will bring that kind of return at this point. His numbers haven't been bad, but they haven't been nearly what they were in Colorado. Maybe, but then again I said "guess" at the beginning. The Cards/A's like to deal as much as the Cubs/O's, Marlins do and I could definately see Beane send Holliday to St. Louis.

  6. I love the game of baseball, but the Cubs are definately starting to make me hate the sport. The superior pitcher going into the game gives up 9 runs, and a pitcher who should be pitching int he Mexican league is holding the Cubs to 1 run. These games make me hate baseball, sometimes.
  7. Halladay can't play CF, SS or 1B or bat cleanup, so.... Yeah, but it's only a matter of time when Beltran and Reyes are coming back, and they can find a decent enough bat to play 1B if Delgado is out longer.
  8. The BJ are trying to do the Mets a favor and the Mets should no thank you, alledgely? Wow, the Mets must think they have no shot at the playoffs even with a potential Santana/Halladay rotation.
  9. Pass. Andy, you'll get Blake Parker and Tony Thomas. And you'll like it! Not crazy about that offer, but I could live with it.
  10. Let's raise our expectations a tad, shall we? I'm calling 2 of 3 from the Phils I don't think it's unreasonable to expect just one from this series. The Phillies have won 8 in a row, 12 out of their last 13, and are playing in their home ballpark. I'd expect them to take two out of three against any team in the league right now. If the Cubs can take two I'd be very happy, but I don't think only taking one says anything poorly about the team in this case. Getting swept however would be a disappointment and would be giving back the unexpected extra win the team picked up against the Nationals. So the Phills are due to lose then. 8-) Unless they go on colorado hot streak they will lose a couple here and there. Considering the Cubs are throwing Lilly/ Harden, especially since it is at night/Zambrano against the scary three of Lopez/Blanton and Moyer, I think there is a chance the Cubs could the Phillies a reason to be frustrated. Note this: The Phillies are in the midst of playing 18 games in 18 days (excluding a rain-out against the Marlins). So if the Cubs can get to the Phillies pen early and often, the Cubs have a good chance at doing some damage.
  11. I like both of the Royals "alternate jersies, the black jersey with the blue writing, and the Royal blue tops they used on Sunday afternoon games. I also like the Blue Jays all blue alternate uniform. I like to a degree both the Giants and O's "black and orange" alternate jersies.
  12. Give him Chris Sabo's goggles! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v39/SwedeCarlson/Baseball/SaboMom.png No, give him the "Harry Potter coke bottle glasses" so he can look like a mini-me version of John Salley in "Bad Boys."
  13. wasnt it that tanzer joker that screwed harrington over? Yes, and Tanzer "retired" to Utah. And when I said "retired", I bet he was blacklisted by baseball players (majors and minors) as an agent not to sign with because his advice is worth crap. But what I understand is that Tanzer and Harrington agreed to an out-of-court settlement and Harrington, shouldn't be concern over money, but nothing surprises me. As for my question, I know the easy answer would be to say Harrington, but I have to go with Bush, only bcause he has been a arrested several teams for DUI, and whatnot. Harrington was an idiot for listening to his agent, but Bush is a drunken idiot.
  14. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/J/JoneTh00.htm Ah...he did in 2005 with Kyle Orton/Rex Grossman as his QB. Brett Favre didn't have any impact on Jones production last yr, no matter how you spin it. I mean he was better with Favre then he was with Pennington the yr before, but Favre didn't really have all that much impact on Jones. Not trying to start crap with you ELCaballo cause I think your a pretty cool cat despite being a fan of "the enemies" but Brett Favre has been declining every yr since 2004, and to think that if/when Favre signs with Minnesota means they are a slight favorite, I simply do not agree. Favre is living off his name at this point in his career. This is not a Favre that will lead the Vikings from a 10 win team they were last yr with no QB, to a 12-14 win team. Favre is simply not that player anymore. The Vikings would simply making a lateral move with Favre.
  15. I agree it seem to me that the Bears thrived when they had the "us .v. the world mentality" like they had in 2006. When the Bears were hungry they were arguably the best team in football. I expect that hunger to be there this yr considering how close they were to making the playoffs last yr. Again it's going to be a "black and blue" battle for the division crown this yr between Bears/Vikes/Packers. Right now, I don't see a "favorite" for the division crown yet, cause all three teams are about the same as a whole next. (Note: even if the Vikes do sign Favre, that doesn't really improve their team).
  16. Supposedly their potential to produce to their career numbers..... They both look so bad, I personally wouldn't mind playing at least 2 games in a row with almost anyone but them in the lineup Right now Bradley is basically a three outcome hitter: walk, a strikeout, or a single. For a guy that is being paid to provide power that is unacceptable. And Soriano, I've run out of things to say about him. If the Cubs want to win they need to bench Soriano for a long period of games. I don't give a damn about his contract, his play is hurting the Cubs, and Piniella has to think about the team as a WHOLE instead of an ego on the one.
  17. At this point are we really going to miss anything if we replace Soriano and Bradley in the lineup with Fox and Fuld?
  18. I hate contact plays like that. It hardly ever works, and teams usually run into outs. People on this board don't like to give away outs by sacrificing early in the game, I don't like to give away outs just as Lee and Ramirez coming up to the plate. Theriot should have stay put and force the pitcher to get ARam out.
  19. Yeah it's kind of funny, but when the Cubs faces the Nyger Morgan's of the world, he is world beater, but when the Cubs acquire the Nyger Morgan's of the world they suck. But hey if the Cubs didn't have bad luck, they wouldn't have any luck at all. (Come to think of it, I much rather have no luck.) edit: I come to the fact that this simply isn't the Cubs yr. It won't click for them this yr. 2010 can't get here fast enough.
  20. I'm looking up Ryan's bio and yes he does have a brother named Shawn, but that Jordan Zimmerman has a brother name Jeff.
  21. With Nat McClouth, Xavier Nady, Adam LaRouche, and Ryan Doumit rounding out the lineup. That would have been one scary l ineup.
  22. Worse past high school decisions: Matt Harrington or Matt Bush?
  23. Heh, Sept. 13th can't get here soon enough. I find it easier to cope by placing "few weeks" or "several weeks" over a definate date. To me it seems to get here faster then knowing the actual date. But thank you about reminding me of the date..... :)
