  1. Suffice to say both the Bears and the Packers like where their respective teams are at heading into training camp in a few weeks.
  2. If it means that Miles (I mean Aaron) won't see Chicago again as a Cub, then what's the downside?
  3. Unless the Cards can get Halladay---which I doubt----they are definately catchable. IMO, the Cubs can, should and pass the Cards comfortably and could still win this division by at least 5 games. Overly optimistic, sure, but I rather look at the glass half-full, instead of half-empty.
  4. http://news.bostonherald.com/sports/baseball/red_sox/view.bg?articleid=1185570 It looks like the Cubs are at leas discussing the idea of Julio Lugo.
  5. You honestly think the Nationals have enough pitching to keep the lead for another 8 innings? You know our offense is a joke, right? I was going to say that the Nationals pitching is worse then the Cubs offense, but then I realize that the Cubs offense is 2nd worse in the NL, and the Nationals have the worst pitching in the NL. With that said, I trust the Cubs offense to score over the Nats pitching to stop the Cubs from scoring.
  6. You honestly think the Nationals have enough pitching to keep the lead for another 8 innings?
  7. I wonder what it will take for Piniella and Hendry to realize that Ryan Theriot, that no matter how gritty he is, is not a good SS.
  8. Again, Clayton said he doesn't expect the Bears to sign Plaxico, but he thinks it would be a good deal for the Bears. And I agree with you that the Bears won't sign a guy just because a player on another team criticized the percieved weakness of the Bears.
  9. Just call it a pet peeve of mine, okay. John Clayton on ESPN said it would be a "smart" move on the Bears to pursue Plaxico Burress. He said the Bears prolly won't pursue Plaxico, but he said it would be smart for the Bears to move on Plax. He also said that Donald Driver's statment was "not smart", because it is the kind of statement that would/could spur the Bears into moving on Plaxico or any WR that could improve the Bears WR depth.
  10. I heard the actually statement made by Driver, and no it wasn't inflammatory, but again the Bears buisness is of no concern to Donald Driver. Maybe he should help find ways to improve the Packers who went 6-10 last yr instead of giving opinion about a rival. Just a thought...
  11. And why should they? Their offense is solid enough, and depending on how far a way Strasburg is from making an impact in the majors, they could just be a few mid rotation starters and a few solid relievers away from a major league baseball team. Which is why I found it funny how pundits would say certain players on the Nationals could be had for trade...Get that team some good pitching, and they can compete with the other teams in the divisions.
  12. All I'm saying that Driver should worry about his damn team, instead of commenting on another team's players.
  13. How does he not have the right to talk about players on another team? And why the heck does he have to know the guys personally to have an opinion on their skills? Quoting Mike and Mike doesn't help your cause. First: He doesn't know guys like Iglesias, Knox, or Kinder. Not to mention I'm pretty sure when the Bears and Packers play, he doesn't chat with guys like Hester, Davis, or even Rideau. Which means he is only basing his comments on what he sees and not on actually information. Not to mention there is a better then 50% chance that the Bears WR core could make a big step forward in their development now that the Bears have a legit QB. So why would Driver want to give these WR players bulletin board material, is beyond. Because I don't see Harris and Woodson shutting down the Bears WR this yr like they did last yr. Second: I like "Mike and Mike." And I wasn't quoting anything they said, just a segment they would run periodically that is call "Shut the hell up." And Driver definately would not to "Shut the hell up."
  14. I've heard the Nationals do not have to move money thus they don't have to trade anybody.
  15. I wish football players would stop talking out of place. He has a point to a degree, but that doesn't give Driver the right to talk about players on another team. The Bears WR are not his teammates, and he doesn't know them personally, so he really needs to save the critic for his team. In the words of a segment on "Mike & Mike", Driver should "Shut the hell up."
  16. I realize that he's struggled at home and is much better on the road all season, but this quote suggests that there is a specific reason why he struggles at home. What could that be? He doesn't like cramped clubhouses? I wonder if Piniella meant he is going to try to get Harden more night starts.....
  17. Why'd you have to do that with Robert Victor's name? What did Robert Victor Ryan ever do to you, Truffle? :D
  18. Absolutely. With the big lead late in the game, the last 5 minutes of that game, I was smoking a "victory cigar" and laughing at the pundits who thought the Saints were "destined" to go to the Super Bowl.
  19. I cannot believe Soriano was so good in April, and yet Nefti-esque by mid-July. But hey, at least Soriano will be up for Comeback Player of the Year in 2010....
  20. http://www.ksl.com/?nid=304&sid=7189836 Portland's is really having a great offseason.
  21. The Bears/Cards was great, but come on.....Dennis Green's rant after the game was pure genius....
  22. Hughes and Jackson still have good potential, but why in the world do NY have this notion that Melky Cabrera is a good player with good trade? Melky is a 4th OF pretending to be a starter.
  23. Kurkjan said it would prolly cost the Cards both Ramsus and Wallace to get Halladay, and for a pitcher with as many innings on his arm that might not be the best investment on there prospects. Even tho he is still good friends with Carpenter, he prefers to stay in the AL (the AL version of Jake Peavy) as he absolutely hates having to hit. If I had my guess, Halladay doesn't get move and all this talk is nothing more then a tease.
  24. John Lannan is the worst "ace" in baseball. His era looks fine (an ERA closer to a #3 starter, imo) but opponents are hitting a robust .274 against him (with lefites absolutely destroy him at a .319/.398/.619/1.018 clip), and he has a whip of 1.39 would put him in the same catergory with the likes of Derek Lowe, Max Scherzer, Aaron Harang, etc, etc. Now while he does seem to be a solid pitcher, the Cubs have no reason to lose any of the games to Washington. None whatsoever. But seeing as we are fans of the Cubs, there's a good chance we'll lose 3 of 4 to the worst team in baseball.
