  1. I'm with you, but any ABs against Lincecum should be stricken from the record. Then does that mean you can strike any an all at-bats DeRosa had while facing crappy pitchers, too?
  2. Neither Flynn or Curry are going to be long-term starters. In fact, I bet both will be the first guard off the bench for the better part of the careers. I like both players games, but neither strikes me as a player who can start for a championship team, or even a contender. I see Flynn in the Nate Robinson/Earl Watson energy guard role for the Wolves. And Curry to me looks like a guy you bring in for a clutch 3 pointer. Both will be solid players, but neither are long term starters, IMO.
  3. I hate to tell Ozzie this, but the pack that he runs with ain't the brightest colours in the crayon box. Ozzie needs to realize that even bringing a championship to Chicago, he and the rest of the White Sox will always be considered "the other Chicago team" no matter how much it pisses him off. If he doesn't like it, then leave Chicago.
  4. That article is hilarious. Phil Rogers has taken Jay Mariotti's role of "Sensationalistic journalism" and made it his own now. Yes lets give away Zambrano at the low point of his value, that will sure improve this team, Phil. Phil Rogers is an idiot, and my eyes bled from reading that blog.
  5. Once again, Hendry has little to do with the drafting since he's become the GM. And he didn't get just "marginal prospects" for DeRosa. The trade of DeRosa in and of itself was fine. The mistake was not coming even remotely close to finding someone just serviceable to replace what DeRosa could do while also signing a player basically tailor-made to maximize DeRosa's supersub abilities. Exactly. Trading Derosa wasn't the bad idea, replacing him on the roster with Aaron Miles that was the problem.
  6. The thinking is that Miles' reputation is that he can play shortstop. Hudson cannot. Yeah but, Hudson has shown he can play this game we call baseball at a very good level, Miles have proven he should be a librarian.
  7. Well.............this weekend has been a blast.
  8. I woke up and I turned on the tv just as Landon was scoring the 2nd goal. Then I flipped over to the Cubs game and my reaction was  . So naturally I left the tv on the US/Brazil game.
  9. Ugh, no thanks. I'll happily watch the Brewers win the division any day over the Cardinals. Ug no thank to your suggestion Mojo. I will quietly sit in the corner until the football season starts, if the Cubs don't pull their collective heads out of their butts.
  10. It's ok guys, DeRosa is sure to sabotage the Cards season like Miles have been trying to do in the offseason. Man, I wish DeRosa could say he won't show up to St. Louis and basically hold both teams hostage, but I know Derosa is a stand up guy and he won't do that. But this is sure a crappy day.
  11. I, for one, would love to see baseball get rid of Interleague.
  12. Come on Jim, we wont say so much as an I told you so. Just make it happen for that love of all that is good. Knowing Derosa feelings about Chicago, I wondering if Mark is privately hoping the Indians send him back to the Cubs? :-k
  13. Normally I would agree with you, but in this yr's class there isn't a sure-fire, you know for a fact, 100% guarantee superstar. Not even Griffin---the best player in the draft---is a player you know will be a superstar. So getting players who can contribute in certain roles in a draft very light in big time college players is prolly the ceiling for this draft.
  14. It sounds like the Hawks could have had Pronger but elected to pass due to the asking price. Personally, I thought it was the right move to pass on Pronger. The Hawks are not in a 'win it now, cause the window is closing" mode, so trading for Pronger did not make sense to me. Pronger going to Philly is a decent move, even tho I do think they slightly overpaid. But on the flip side at least you didn't overpay for a player who can't play anymore. Pronger can still play and play effectively for a couple of yrs, unlike a certain ex Flyer who Philly acquired that was a big name but completely crapped his pants during his tenure in Philly. Truffle you should know who I am talking about.
  15. Are you supposed to find "difference makers" in the middle of the first rd? The last decent player picked at 16 was Hedo Turkaglu and that was 2000, I believe. At this point if Johnson turns out to be Gomes, then it is a solid pick. That's a little extreme. I'm talking about good players on winning clubs...guys like that are found in the middle to late parts of the 1st round every year. Maybe, but the Bulls are not looking for "impact players", there looking for players who can contribute and play towards Derrick Rose's abilities.
  16. I'm hoping Oakland holds out for Colby Rasmus or Brett Wallace.
  17. Are you supposed to find "difference makers" in the middle of the first rd? The last decent player picked at 16 was Hedo Turkaglu and that was 2000, I believe. At this point if Johnson turns out to be Gomes, then it is a solid pick.
  18. I do, and I'll prolly watch, but outside of Tavares and Hedman (or whatever his name is) I'm not too familar with the hockey prospects (just yet).
  19. Agreed. nbadraft compares him to Danny Granger/Ryan Gomes. draftexpress compares him to Ryan Gomes. CBSsportsline compares him to Ryan Gomes. And looking at Gomes comparasion, that is not at all bad. Gomes career numbers are 11.6 and 5.3. So if James can be a cross between Granger and Gomes and the Bulls are likely to have gotten a nice steal at 16. And with TT coming up to an extension time, I would say drafting Johnson and Gibson, means Thomas is prolly gone. Chad Ford is like Peter Vescey, Sam Smith, Skip Bayless, and Jay Mariotti are roll into one. Ford=idiot and anybody who gives that turkey anything more a grain of salt is asking to be call an "idiot". (Not that I am calling anybody an idiot specifically.)
  20. And Buchler is reporting that the Suns/Warriors deal is dead.
  21. Reacquiring doesn't solve everything, but it put certain players back into roles they are better suited for. (ie Fontenot back as backup 2B).
  22. Thank You Indians for giving the Cubs false hope. You big bunch of jerks.....
