  1. IMO, Gerhart is in a wrong team, wrong conference to win the Heisman. He should get serious consideration for the Heisman, but since his regular season is done, and McCoy/Ingram (who will play in the SECCG, BTW) Tebow all have one game left. People are simply going to forget about Gerhart after next Saturday when McCoy or Ingram (yes, Ingram in still in, contrary to all the Debbbie Downers) locks up the award in their respective conference championship games. IMO, the only way Gerhart wins it is if both Ingram and McCoy have poor performances. With that said, I expect McCoy to get it, and I fine with it as I prefer the crystal football trophy at the end of the season.
  2. Or Rice could actually...........you know...........stop them from scoring.
  3. Wasn't that Keanu Reaves teams nickname in The Replacements? They were the Sentinels. So yeah, I guess it was. That was an awesome movie, by the way. It was, whatever happened to that hot cheerleader from it? (I assume you are talking about the head cheerleader.) She played Jackie Miller on "Friday Night Lights", and then Constance Griffths on a show called "Life".
  4. /exhale Danario Alexander is the best receiver in the country, I will brook no argument about this. He is by far my second favorite WR in the game right now.
  5. It wasn't sarcasm or a putdown, it was simply an opinion. But looking pass the surface of McCoy's numbers suggest he hasn't been as good as a Heisman candidate should. McCoy season breaks down in three ways: 1: He was really good against the mediocre or cupcakes teams (ULM, UTEP, Kansas, A&M, Coloardo and Wyoming). 2: He was solid, at best, against solid teams (Missouri, UCF, and Texas Tech, even tho you could agrue he was only workmanlike against Tech). 3: Yards wise, he had his two worst games against both OU and OSU, two teams that were good enough to win, but fail to do so. I'm sorry, but McCoy has been good, but not Heisman worthy. If Ingram doesn't get (which, unless he plays against Floirida and dominates them) the award I would prefer it going to somebody like Toby Gerhart who has been a much needed and better player then both Ingram AND McCoy. But unfortunately people are falling over themselves becuase of McCoy's performance against a pretty awful A&M defense, and he'll get the award because he's Colt McCoy and not because of performance. In fact McCoy hasn't even been the best QB in the nation, a certain Houston QB has been better. I like McCoy, but he isn't getting the aaward based on merit, but based on personality, and charm. In other words, IMO, the Heisman has become the Gold Glove award of college football. An award that in the end, don't really have that much meaning. Cause teams that have the Heisman winner often loses the National Championship, which will be a problem for Texas and Colt McCoy when they see Alabama in Pasadena.
  6. Anybody who knows the Iron Bowl knows this was about as typical of a IB game as it gets. Glad to get the win, hope that Ingram will be ready for Florida, if not, hope he is ready for the bowl. And pretty much congrats to McCoy for "winning" the Heisman.
  7. I'm not in favor of this transaction, and like most I think the Cubs could have gotten him for cheaper or perhaps a draft pick in return. But I am not going to blow a gasket over something that doesn't surprise me, so why are people surprised? He gave up a talented highly touted prospect in Kevin Hart to get Grabow, so keeping John at all cost had to be a must, right? Right? I don't like the yearly salary, but I definately can live with the 2 years, if it is straight up two years and not including option years. Oh well.
  8. I can't say that had crossed my mind. I'd like to know what we have first before we start talking about unloading him. :) But he does have a cap-friendly contract, that's for sure. And it would fit with my suggestion that they unload skill guys here and there to reload the system. I'm not keen on trading quality players a year after signing with the club. That could hinder the Hawks ability to land a free agent in the future if said player thinks he might be traded very soon after signing. Besides, I really want to see what Hossa can do with young'ins like Toews, Kane, etc, etc. So no, I hope the Hawks don't even consider trading Hossa.
  9. The Cubs already have one OF who can do a damn thing against lefties, so why should the Cubs get a 2nd OFer who doesn't hit lefties?
  10. That's what my gut tells me. But otoh, there's no guarantee Castro becomes what we think he will become. Granderson is an established commodity, a good bat at a defense first position, which also happens to be a position of relative need. I would go for the bird in hand, but it could be all those years of our top prospects tanking. If I did cough him up, they wouldn't get much more. Maybe Castro/Fox/Marshall. Everything you said could be true, and I believe Castro's true value could be in the fact he will be a cheap productive SS for the next 5 years, whereas Granderson's contract keeps going up till the end. If I knew Granderson could hit lefties (the only reason why the Cubs might part with Castro for Granderson, is if they believe Jaramillo can help Granderson hit lefties at least slightly below average and not Aaron Milesian) then it might be a deal worth it. But right now, I don't know if I would be happy if the Cubs moved Castro in a Granderson deal.
  11. Cobb and Locke are as good as anybody in the SEC, so keep them in check and that game could turn into a blowout for you guys. One site has you guys projected to play Boston College in the Music City Bowl. CBSSportsline has Tenn .v. Wisconsin in the Outback. Football-bowl.com has Tennessee playing VaTech in the Chik-Fil-A Bowl. So right now Tennessee is all over the place in the Bowls projections. I personally would not mind seeing Tennessee/VaTech matchup.
  12. I agree with TVC, 7-5 is not just likely it's a must for Tennessee, seeing Tennessee is on the outside looking in right now. Tennessee should and will beat Vanderbilt, but the Kentucky game should be a heckuva game. One I am looking forward to seeing. I think Tennessee will steal Kentucky's spot in the bowl, by winning that game.
  13. Prolly, but I much rather not trade Sharp. I think you might see guys Steeg, Skille, Kopecky, Buff, and perhaps even Barker all dealt to make sure the Hawks can keep Kane/Toews/Keith/Hossa and Sharp. But getting Campbell and/or Huet off the cap would go a long way to keeping the core together for a long time. (The latter is a long shot, I know, but one can dream.)
  14. On a Tigers MB there was a Tiger fan who was adament that Cubs fans were "clueless" and that to land Curtis Granderson it would have to include Castro and Vitters without a blink of the eye. I was LOL at how clueless this poster was.
  15. Get this done, Bowman, cause I don't want some idiot GM like Bowman getting any crazy ideas.
  16. I have a co-worker whose name is Brady Manning and she really enjoys the attention. Weirdly enough her favorite QB is neither player, but Drew Brees.
  17. OMIGOD, did Notre Dame get screwed, or what? Understandably Charlie Weiss is arguing the call.
  18. I know a lot of people on here isn't going to like what I am about to say, but who the heck cares: Mark Ingram-Alabama's first Heisman Trophy winner? I do believe so.
  19. Bama's 2nd best sports program is their women's gymnastic team. If that tells you anything...As of right now Bama basketball is basically non-existent.
  20. That is why I am glad you are not the GM, no offense. I don't mind trading prospects, but I want a player who can hit both lefties and righties, and Granderson fits in only with half that scenerio. If Granderson was remotely solid against lefties, that's fine, but he's not as he Aaron Miles against lefties and that to me isn't worth Castro/Vitters or Cashner. I wouldn't be opposed to Vitters and a couple of B prospects for Granderson, but Cashner and Castro imo are off limits unless Verlander or Miguel Cabrera are coming back in the deal.
  21. the sec is awful when it comes to basketball, Tennessee is the only decent team in that league EDIT: my bad, forgot about kentucky. But still, the SEC is bad There's basketball in the SEC? :-k I........did not............know......that.
  22. how is byrd anything like derosa? They are both right handed They both resurrected their careers in Texas, like duh.
  23. This guy doesnt think a trade will happen. To be fair Granderson and Sizemore have similar stats in their respective careers (both debuted in 2004). The biggest difference is this, while Sizemore isn't great or even good against lefties, he isn't completely useless against lefties like Granderson is. So it doesn't surprise that Detroit isn't prepared to trade unless they get a good package.
  24. why so the Broncos can get a top 8 pick and laugh in our faces? I'm hoping the higher the pick the higher the contract Denver has to shell out for a 1st rd pick. And if there is a god they would get the Michael Crabtree of next yr's class. (extended holdout) Crabtree's better than any of the WRs the Bears have. True, but I wasn't talking about the Broncos landing a talent equal of Crabtree, but a player with a Crabtree esque ego to which would lead to an extended holdout.
