  1. Vote or no vote of confidence, when the GM has to speak on the HC job security it is never a good thing. Losing, while not acceptable, is one thing, but not competiting cannot be accepted. Personally I think Lovie will be fired after the season but the only reason why he might not be is because Angelo would then instantly jumps on the hot seat.
  2. But he also said he wants to play for a contender and is willing to accept a set-up role. So right now, Capps is prolly deciding between being a set-up man (defacto closer on days when Marmol is either ineffective, or needs a break) with the Cubs or closing for the Nationals. My opinion is the Nats are likely another 90-95 loss team in 10 which would make saves come at a premium and thus Capps may not get the value as a closer for 2011. My guess is it wouldn't surprise me if Capps signs with either the Cubs or the Phillies. Phillies are said to be needing another bullpen arm, and with injuries to both Lidge and Romero there is opportunity to close if for a short while in Phil. I expect both Byrd and Capps to have their deals done very early next week (regardless if it's the Cubs or not) so they can enjoy the XMas.
  3. Hopefully the Cubs will be in Naples. :-$ don't tell Silva that.
  4. God I hope not. Knowing our luck tho, Milty becomes a friggin MVP candidate. But here's to Bradley not playing in 80 games.
  5. Just because Kenny Williams lucked into a title doesn't mean he isn't an idiot. In fact Williams is as big of an idiot as the GMs of the Cubs/Bears/Bulls but he was lucky that his boneheaded moves worked for one season. At least Kenny sealed the deal and got Peavy something Hendry could not do. LOL He also didn't have a team sale tying his hands. Didn't Kenny also picked up a POC contract like Alexis Rios?

  7. Like I said you can believe whatever reason why the Cubs sucked last season as a why to sleep at night. I chose smorgabord of reasons that includes bad chemistry. If you don't believe in bad chemistry then so be it. I do think bad chemistry play a part. Now move on.
  8. ... THE CUBS' BAD SEASON HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH CHEMISTRY. Bad chemistry didn't take out Aramis for Talmost half a season, make Soriano and Soto terrible or turn 2nd base a nightmare of pain and suffering and despair until Jeff Baker showed up. Team chemistry had zilch to do with this team reguarly going out there with 3-5 offensive dead spots in the lineup. Whatever helps you sleep at night is all that matters. The bottomline is each team Bradley has been on has felt his presence and that has been mostly bad. Bad luck played a part, but if you don't like the players you are playing with you are not going to play hard for them. Keep your head in the sand all you want, believe in the almight chemistry myth or not, I don't care.
  9. Here's to Milton Bradley continue the trend of messing up a team's chemistry. I hate that the Cubs are saddled with Silva, but watching Bradley self-destruct and kill any kind of hope Seattle might have at being good next season will be fun to watch.
  10. No we will not. Chances are the Cubs will land a Ed Wade esque caliber GM, or best yet someone like Brian Sabean.
  11. I know who will be my pick to click as to who will be the most hated Cub on this board in 2010 (provided heis still on the team)
  12. Where's my tequila bottles? Quick Bobby Knight say something about Jim Hendry right damn now.....
  13. Thanks guys. You could have put the Silva for Bradley in spoilers and save those who haven't seen the news some anger issues. Jim Hendry might be, check that, he is the most discombobulated man in sports. Call in Bradley and his agent and let's have a airing out of the issues that are the problems. At the end of the meeting guarantee Bradley would not have to talk to the media, and be done with it. Or if your pride is just to hurt for that simply release Bradley and save yourself from going from one mistake to another. But nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Hendry is bound to determine to see how hated he get be before he is fired.
  14. Contrary to the credibility of the website, I have actually heard that GA is interested in the former Alabama assistant Kevin Steele, and current Alabama assistant Sunseri. So that's legit. These two are mentioned because Kirby Smart Richt flat out turned down GA, (or he didn't like the fact that Richt doesn't like to pay his assistants anything substantial) and Bud Foster also refused Richt's job offer. If GA lands one of the two they would get solid coaches, but it wouldn't surprise me if Sunseri turn GA down and wait for something worth it next year like Kirby Smart and Jim McElwain. So I have no idea who GA will end up with as DC.
  15. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-mariners-lee&prov=ap&type=lgns I suppose Carlos Silva would be the albatross contract the Cubs would get in return? I much rather KEEP Milton Bradley if it meant not taking on Carlos Silva.
  16. relief pitchers ACTUALLY serve a purpose on a MLB roster, all DH does is waste spot for somebody who deserves said spot.
  17. Leave the DH with the beer drinking, beer belly leagues. If you can't play the field, then you shouldn't be on a MAJOR LEAGUE roster.
  18. Wow got some ugly responses in this thread. Might as well lock this thread. RIP Chris Henry.
  19. I just think people are upset that a Crimson Tide player won the award over an inferior player playing on an inferior team in an inferior league. Save the BS argument over which conference is better. Bottomline the choice was made, and NO TOBY GERHART WAS NOT ROBBED, people need to stop using that BS cliche. Deal with it. 2009 Heisman Trophy Winner: Mark Ingram. Now deal with it.
  20. At this point if Cameron signs with Boston, just hold onto Milton and save yourselves from overspending for a guy like Byrd or even signing a guy like Pods. So essentially the 2010 Cubs will be nearly identical to the 2009 Cubs, but without three of the bigger headaches. Cool. So we're looking at another 82-85 win team next yr barring some miracle.
  21. Wow, the pure stupidity of this post reminds me of meph.
  22. Finally a person with a working brain cell and is not afraid to use said working brain cell.
  23. I've seen Michael Taylor (Phillies) and Phillipe Aumont (Mariners) are the two known names, who would head to Toronto. Nothing has been mention about what other prospects could be going.
  24. Considering that Boston has made a $75 million offer to the Cuban free agent Chapman, I definately see legs to the AGone rumor.
