  1. There were 3 undefeateds before the bowl season in 2004 as well. So once in five years something like this happens. Doesn't mean we need a playoff. I mean people can't even agree on the playoff format, but people still want a playoff. We already have a playoff it's call November. I think Florida will beat Cincy, and one of Alabama/UT and Boise/TCU will lose, meaning at best there will be 2 undefeated left in FBS. I can live with that, even if my team doesn't win it. I used to buy into the playoff talk, but the more I thought about it the less it made sense to me. in 2008-09 there were 3 undefeated teams, two of which didn't get to play for the title (boise st lost to tcu, utah beat the #4 team in the country). in 2007-08 a two-loss team (lsu) was arbitrarily selected over a bunch of other two-loss teams to play ohio st. in 2006-07, one-loss florida played for the title over one-loss michigan and one-loss usc, while boise st finished the year undefeated after beating oklahoma. i could go on and on. i'm not sure how many teams from non-bcs conferences have finished undefeated - either boise st or tcu will this year, utah did last year, boise st did in 2006-07, utah did in 2004, etc) and none of those teams have gotten a chance to play for a championship. the system completely shafts non-bcs conferences and arbitrarily chooses teams to play in the "championship game" - see one-loss florida state playing for the title over one-loss miami in 2001, with fsu's only loss coming to miami, and miami's only loss coming to one-loss washington. the system is awful. Doesn't change the fact that we will never see a playoff system in Division 1 A.

  3. Just make sure it's Hendry you do the bodily harm to. Yes.
  4. oh holy crap My sentiments exactly. We already have a similar player on the roster name Sam Fuld. Don't need another, Jim.
  5. Only if the other team requires it. Byrnes: How about Robinson Cano? Cashman: Make it Phil Coke and we have a deal. Byrnes: Sweet! Byrnes prolly thought he was getting a heir to the Coca-Cola fortune.
  6. Carlos Silva is Shawn Estes bad with a Soriano esque bad contract. I don't care if Bradley is the unhappiest MF in Chicago, I much rather have a pouting Bradley over a godawful pitcher like Silva. I might do some bodily harm if the Cubs end up with Silva for Bradley.
  7. We don't need a playoff. This season is an aberration in terms of how many undefeated teams are left before the bowl season.
  8. Agreed. I used to like his segmen "Diamond Notes" on BBTN years ago, but it seems to me he wants to concentrate a little more time with his music.
  9. Hey Packers play as bad as you did against the Bucs, and we'll call it even for stealing the game earlier in the season.
  10. Nutt isn't going anywhere. He's just fighting for leverage with our dipstick Athletic Director. I'm not sure if Ole Miss should put up a fight to keep Nutt. IMO, you guys have already reached your peak with Nutt (and all the Hogs fans I know, were glad to be rid of him) while using Oregron players. Personally after the season you guys had, I don't think Nutt is entitled to bluff your AD into a pay raise or whatever he is trying to get, so IMO, let him go to KU and make a run and/or land a guy like Charlie Strong.
  11. So............... no to Jeremy Bates. Ok.
  12. . Quite frankly, I've never heard of Jeremy Bates, so would somebody fill me in on Bates?
  13. Spiller should have gone over Tebow. I agree.
  14. You know what they say, a Penny saved............
  15. stuy; What do you make of this: http://blog.al.com/bamabeat/2009/12/florida_state_closes_in_on_ala.html It's not that I don't believe you about Kirby Smart, it's just this is the first time publically FSU has been linked to a Bama coach and it's NOT Kirby Smart, but Sal Sunseri. Maybe they were interested in Smart, but figure they don't want to be a stepping stone, so they chose the older and more likely to stay for awhile coach. Or maybe be interested in Smart only to really want Sunseri. Either way, FSU is likely to get one heck of a coach in either Smart or Sunseri.
  16. Agreed. it depends do you want Burrell for the year or Castillo at 2 years. I look at these two as the only options for the Cubs (blaming Hendry is a topic for another day) and IMO I much rather have Castillo. Last year Burrell was so bad, I called him the "Aaron Miles of DHs" as he had the lowest OPS of any DH with 200 at-bats, whereas Castillo was serviceable at 2B.
  17. That's not good use of money, tho. It's bad enough to pay Grabow about 3.5 per, but to pay a platoon player/big bat off the bench $9 mill is incredile stupid, considering we had someone similar at literally a fraction of the cost. I doubt the Cubs would acquire Burrell to keep.
  18. I think the idea would be for the Cubs to flip Burrell to the Mets for Castillo. Like the Cubs with wanting to trade Bradley then sign Cameron, then Mets want to trade Castillo to sign Orlando Hudson. that's not wsr's plan though. he wants to keep burrell Maybe he was thinking the Cubs have a softball team that could use Burrell, because if WSR is think he could be a bench player/power bat off the bench, then why the hell trade Jake Fox then? The only way I see the Cubs trading for Burrell is if they intend to flip him, otherwise there is no point in acquiring Burrell.
  19. I wouldn't have a problem with Bama being consensus #1 if they stomp Texas as they should. But if Texas somehow won in a close game and one of TCU/Boise stomps the other, I'd really hope that the latter would be voted #1. If Bama wins, say by 10 or more points, then they should be the consensus #1, but anything under 10 points and a convincing win by either TCU or Boise and I think we would see the mytical split national champions.
  20. Of course you chuckle. Alabama won't have a chance to be embarrassed again this year. I was not embarrassed about losing to an eventual undefeated team in utah. Upset? Yes, but Utah was a damn good team. In fact Oklahoma losing to Boise State was more embarrassing then Bama losing to Utah. And if you think Bama is "saved" from being embarrassed again, then you're wrong. I would love the opportunity to play the winner of TCU/Boise State, nad put this issue to bed. Oklahoma lost by one point in OT on a couple trick plays. Alabama was down 21-0 in the first quarter and was only really in the game for 1:37 when it was 21-17 until Utah marched down and made it an 11-point game again. Bama's loss last year was way worse and way more embarrassing. Yet we didn't take as embarrassing. We were angry, we were disappointed, but considering Bama had come off a 7-6 season a bowl victory over Colorado the previous year, I would say the end of the 2008 season was more disappointing, then embarrassing. If you want to think we were embarrassed, then you have a taken a shot at Utah, moreso then Alabama. They wanted it more, Bama didn't, it's that simple.n Disappointed, but not embarrased.

  23. This IS unfair. Hell, TCU should be playing Bama. Congrats on your title because Texas won't beat you. TCU might have. Boise should be getting a shot at Florida. This is garbage. Maybe, but neither team are going to complain all that much, because let's face it they are playing in one of the major bowls. I do agree that both teams should be playing BCS conference teams, and the NCAA pull a cop out and put these two teams together. And yes, I much rather have played TCU as I think they are a better team then Texas. We'd prolly would beat TCU, but I wouldn't guarantee it. As for taking a knock at Texas, don't. Blame the system, not the team. Texas took advantage of the same system that screwed them last yr.
  24. I chuckle at those who think this is unfair to both teams. Is it what it is, and it should be a fun matchup.
  25. June Jones returning to Hawaii? Interesting.
