  1. http://hotstove.mlblogs.com/ please be true please be true Hendry......the ball is in your court. Make it happen.
  2. Man, the RedFlash response would be epic with a Utah win. You wish. You know Alabama is going to beat Utah. I'd bet Bama wins, but I wouldn't be shocked if Utah beat them. I think I heard the best comparasion of Utah as being "Florida without Tim Tebow." Since Alabama played Florida really tough, and seeing UTAH doesn't have a Tebow at QB, I suspect this game won't be close. If Utah wins---I won't "guarantee" anything more, unless it's a tongue in cheek---it will prolly be the biggest upset in the BCS this yr. Nonetheless, I expect Alabama to win comfortably.

  4. Is it possible that your friend is confusing the Karros/Grud for Hundley trade with the EY/Valdez for Adams/minor leaguers trade? Otherwise, I don't know what your friend is thinking about.
  5. Glavine, it's a toss up, and Smoltz, I believe has said he wants to pitch next yr.
  6. Nobody in the NFC North can be classified as being "good."
  7. well....yeah, i can agree with that. See, I can do it too. Get ready, you know Alabama is back. And it is good to be hated again. well, you're definitely hated :amen: I won't be satisfied, until Alabama is "USC hated."
  8. Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't Threet transer from Georgia Tech? And correct me if I am wrong but Threet skill set is NOT made for Coach Rodriguez system?
  9. well....yeah, i can agree with that. See, I can do it too. Get ready, you know Alabama is back. And it is good to be hated again.
  10. First: Hosak, thank you for your hatred of Alabama. That tells me Alabama is relevent again in college football. So get used to that feeling of hating Alabama, cause we will be talking about Bama as a Nat'l title contender again next yr. Second: Word around campus is that Star Jackson is a better "game manager" then people are lead to believe. There was some talk early in the season that Star could have seen some time this yr, but Saban kill that rumor, cause Star definately needed time in the weight room. Saban is absolutely high on him, and 2009 commit AJ McCarron---who has a higher ceiling the Star----and Bama's QB will be settle for the next six yrs. 2 yrs from McElroy, 2 yrs of Jackson, 2 yrs of McCarron.
  11. If you mean "juuuust missed on Julio Jones" as in Julio like OU but never consider OU? Then you would be right. Jones loved his visit to Oklahoma, but Jones was never going to go to OU, and that is guarantee. The only team I feared for Julio Jones was Texas Tech, cause Jones was definately intrigued by playing alongside Michael Crabtree and Graham Harrell. TT was the only Big 12, IMO, that had a legit shot at Jones, and he basically blew TT off the last weekend of recruiting. Who is going to be the Qb next year. A 3* Jr or a 2* soph. Its not like they are replacing John David Booty with a 5* Qb like Matt Sanchez. Coffee is good, ill give you that. A 3 star QB who broke all of CHASE DANIEL records in Texas Football, or a 4 star duel threat QB who is similar to Ryan Perrileaux without the offseason troubles. Coffee is good, Ingram is a future 1st rd draft pick RB, Alabama will be bringing a 5 star Top 2/3 RB in Trent Richardson who's likely to be McFadden/Tomlinson good in college. Not to mention Alabama will bring in atleast 4 four star WR in a group of WR between Bumphis/Norwood/Kelly/Patterson/Bowman and there is even a chance Alabama could sign (I say he is LSU bound but that's not a lock yet) the Julio Jones of this WR class in Rueben Randle. So, yes, I think Alabama can be USC good next yr. Mackle Wayne (I can't for the life of me can't spell his name properly. so I spell as it sounds) is a really good offensive coordinator, and with a very good group of young talent coming back yr, Alabama can and should average nearly 40 ppg next yr, and people are likely to average under 10 ppg next yr. Put it this way, even if Tebow and Harvin comes back next yr, I still expect Alabama to be favored to win the SEC next yr, and contend for the Nat'l Title.
  12. I don't really like him either, but there's nothing wrong with resting your rookie PG with that big of a lead with that little amount of time left I don't like Rose playing 35-40 minutes a night. But unless the Bulls have a quality backup, it's prolly their only option.

I said I would be here to take the pie throwing in face treatment if Alabama lost, now didn't I? So, I am a man of my word if I am proven wrong. Can you say that, SSR? And on Julio Jones....he's playing on Alabama, and not Oklahoma, now is he?
  14. Ok guys, here I am, I am prepare to eat a little crow. I maintain that if Bama and Florida played a total of 10 times, I am 100% confident Alabama would win 7 of 10 games. Coffee and Jones were simply brilliants, JP Wilson was not. Props to Florida for capitalizing on Alabama mistakes, and I would say good luck. Trust me when I say this....Alabama will be beat in this SAME position next yr. This Bama team will be USC good next yr.. SEC is overrated this yr, and Alabama is slightly overrated. If you mean "juuuust missed on Julio Jones" as in Julio like OU but never consider OU? Then you would be right. 15. To me, if the Cubs are legitimate when they say they would eat upwars of $4 mill on Marquis contract, then he would be a better fit for a team looking to upgrade the staff without having to overpay grossly for a starter on the FA market. I mean $5 mill for a yr (assume Cubs eat $4 mill)or say Jon Garland at $10 mill? To me, that's a no brainer. Something tells me, Hendry will recent healthy interest in Marquis next week.
  16. That's you, Backtobanks. Me, personally, Peace of Mind is worth more to me then an additional $30 million over the life of the contract. There's a reason why CC is stalling the Yankees. Could he end up in New York, yes. But gut feeling is saying talking the Yanks offer would be the last option he would do. I believe he is waiting for a "home town team" to offer a competitive offer, one he would jump at. I honestly believe in this case, CC does not want to pitch in New York, but will if it comes down to that.
  17. (This isn't directed at you rocket, but unless you are being sarcastic, you are the only one who thinks Alabama can win) All I know is this---craziness aside---is that Alabama plays a full "60 minutes of hell" kind of football. I promise everybody here---head is calm---Florida will have to match Alabama's physicality, to beat Alabama. I know Florida advantages, but I am putting my money on the better prepared team, and trust me when I say this, regardless of what you think of Nick Saban, nobody outworks Nick Saban. NOBODY. This isn't LSU, this isn't Kentucky, this isn't Arkansas, Florida facing. This is Alabama. Alabama isn't going to win with some pretty offense, they will win because they CAN bully any team in America. Alabama will win because they will control the LOS. The will beat Florida because Tebow and that offense will be on the sidelines moreso then the field. Yes, Florida is "pretty" and I know ESPN has gone gay for Tebow and whatnot, but let's face it, even Superman has a kryptonite. A kryptonite has a name: Nick Saban. Florida may win, I will concede but anybody who thinks Florida is going to be blowing out Alabama is simply leaving in a la-la land of candy canes, unicorns and endless rainbows. The simple truth, Alabama IS 12-0 for a reason and not all of it being luck---cause if you say it's luck, then Florida is 11-1 can be said as being based on luck, like facing a Kentucky team ravaged by injuries basically due to the Alabama game, or Arkansas running out of gas---and the absuridity of Alabama being such a gross underdog is monumentally stupid. If anybody here is putting money on the game, put it on Alabama, cause come Monday you will be happy, cause they are not only going to beat the spread, they will be the Gators. Alabama will show people why you don't underrate a team that is better then the sums of it's part. Alabama will win 31-17. Start crying, Alabama haters. Start crying.
  18. I thought his HR call was "Oh, baby" with his voice cracking. :D I don't know, but that's my HR call, and I ain't talking baseball...
  19. I thought his HR call was "Oh, baby" with his voice cracking. :D
  20. Respect and Tuberville do NOT belong in the same sentence. This guy is the master of the cheap shot. I don't care if he was fired or forced to resigned, I'm glad he's gone. This is a guy who once whined about Saban leaving LSU/Miami for more money, yet it was Tuberville who once said he wouldn't leave Ole Miss unless it was in a "Pine Box," then turn around and took the AU (ie more money). Then you have Tuberville lead teams being the master of the illegal chop block. His assistant coaches wives calling radio shows and making slanderious remarks about Nick Saban, and then "the fingers." Sorry, I cannot respect the man. The only thing positive about Ears I can say is this: Atleast he's away from Bobby Lowder.
  21. Believe it or not, the Angels were the one team I am worried about jumping in and getting Peavy. I wasn't worried witht he Dodgers, or the Braves, and certaintly not the Cards/Yanks/ and Astros. Because: 1: Angels are a competitive team. 2: They are in California, which means Peavy wouldn't have to move his family. The only downsize to the Angels is this, there is the DH. From all accounts of Peavy, much like CC, wants to stay in the NL becuase they like to hit. But I don't think he would let that stand in the way of getting out of San Diego. With that said, LAA hasn'y been seriously linked to Peavy all offseason, so right now I wouldn't get nervous about their involvement unless they strikeout on Tex, CC and brining back KRod.
  22. Skiles would have been a much better coach to develop Rose. Vinny is only coaching one year, but still, it is hard to coach this team when you have absolutely nothing in the front court and you paid a guy $70 million who will never make an All-Star team. Skiles would have had Rose sitting behind Kirk Hinrich.
  23. Without Petco to back him up, Peavy is not dominant. Then you have to throw out ballparks who are considered offense, like Arizona and Colorado---even with the humidor. We can play this game. Peavy isn't Zito in that he won a Cy Young on smoke and mirrors, he has legit ace staff and can carry a pitching staff. Besides ERA .v. NL Central teams Mil: 3.43 Hou: 3.38 Card: 2.77 Pitt: 2.25 Cinn: 3.16 at Wrigley: 3.68 That's good enough for me.
  24. Odds that no one in that rotation both pitches 25 starts and has an ERA better than 3.6? You realize that everyone in that rotation made 25 starts last year, and only Zambrano and Lilly had an ERA higher than 3.6. Anything can happen, but I gotta think the odds that none of them meet both of those criteria are smaller than just about every other rotation in the league (assuming the Peavy deal happens of course). Dempster is coming off an unusually good year pitching-wise, Harden is coming off the same health-wise, and Peavy leaving the the Coors Field of right-handed pitching with a 3.80 career road ERA and a 4.28 for 2008. I don't think that rotation is as good as people expect. It's deep with above-average starters, but it seriously lacks dominance. Peavy isn't "dominant"? I disagree on Peavy not being dominant. And that staff has the potential to have three guys who could dominate the game any gaiven start, and the Cubs could have three guys win atleast 17 games next yr based on talent, alone. So we have to agree to disagree on the potential of that staff.
