  1. Think they'll be able to get anything for Duffy at the deadline?
  2. 4 identified clutch hits in ~ 2,400 PA’s in 5+ years for a premier FA signing. Not bad. Like I said, it’s probably not a good thing that they easily jump out at me because they were 4 times he’s actually come through. That said there are more big hits and relative to his overall performance I’m not sure if he is particularly unclutch. He just hasn’t been good much of the time so he doesn’t come through all that often, but maybe statistics show otherwise. I don’t think he has had bad ABs in clutch situations like where he’s trying too hard and swinging at junk. I think he has a tendency to take strikes earlier in the count as he’s trying to work the count in his favor to get a pitch that he won’t roll over (though he often rolls over it anyways). JHey High Leverage OPS/OPS+ 16 - .576/60 in 110 PA 17 - .806/117 in 100 PA 18 - .773/115 in 101 PA 19 - .640/71 in 103 PA 20 - .993/163 in 35 PA 21 - .248/-26 in 25 PA Full Season OPS/OPS+/PA 16 - .631/68/592 17 - .715/84/481 18 - .731/94/489 19 - .772/101/589 20 - .848/133/181 21 - .561/58/122 The high leverage OPS+ is adjusted for situation... so in 17 and 18, he was pretty good in HL situations, and 20 in a very small sample... and nothing has been way out of wack with his overall performance vs HL situations, but yes he has been seriously awful so far this year
  3. man, it would be kinda scary up against Clase right now... he doesn't seem to know where it's going at all
  4. drop: George Springer ($150) Add: Bryce Harper ($100)
  5. Bote getting picked off burns a PH, and makes Ross decide if he wants to use another PH or let a reliever hit... way to TOOTBLAN
  6. KB made a really nice play in center on that last one too
  7. lots of solid OT, CB, and WR prospects left to choose from today for the Bears. Almost wondering about trading down from 52 (to the mid 60s?) to try and pick up a 4th or 5th rounder?
  8. Does a guy like Fields really need an entire year to learn? I say as long as they can protect, let him play
  9. I would fully expect them to trade Kimbrel if they keep sucking. That extra year adds value, and they won't need him next year since they'll probably suck again, so they might as well try to find some rando to try and catch lightning in a bottle then trade for more than he's worth because he's racked up some saves
  10. Not opposed to them taking 2 QBs (1 early, 1 late). If you don't have a QB, you might as well tank in todays nfl.
  11. Davies is a bum, and yet he is likely (because prospects) to be the best player we got in return from a guy who had a legit shot at the CY last year.
  12. really sucks when an obviously wrong strike call changes the entire AB at such a crucial time in the game
  13. Odds of us scoring again today just plummeted
  14. Javy better do something cool since he about got himself out dogging it on the bases there
  15. Yeah, if Rizzo is extended, and one (or more) of these bat-first catchers develops well, they'll likely have a ready in-house replacement for him depending on the length of the extension. Also, with the electronic strike zone becoming more and more likely over the coming seasons, bat first catchers will definitely be in high demand. The list keeps growing: Ethan Hearn (20) Ronnier Quintero (18) Brayan Altuve (18) Moises Ballesteros (17) Adan Sanchez (15, will be 16 at signing) With the DH seeming likely to be added too, that's another slot for a bat first catcher.
  16. same drop: Tatis SS $75 add: Baez SS $75
  17. Right, it's a PR risk not a legal/contractual one I'm guessing the majority of KU basketball fans don't care that he cheats. He got it in his contract that he gets half his money even if KU is hit with sanctions and he's suspended!
  18. Wonder if they will consider Wrigley since we’ve been trying to get one for years and aren’t currently on the calendar. Though I’m not sure I want it in a year where it may be like 50% attendance Considering Daddy Ricketts probably has dumped millions into voter suppression efforts across the country I would say no Right? Can the next step be ridding MLB of dirt bag owners?
  19. JD still wearing a shirt and tie under his Marquee jacket. lol First dumb COBS thing to happen this year: Bote boots a routine grounder, never-ending stream of calls for Nico to be up restart
  20. Look, the Cubs as an organization suck even more than your typical sports franchise. And yeah, they'll probably be on the outside looking in at the end of the year. But I'm excited to watch baseball again, if only for a week or two. Can't wait to hear whatever crowd is there react to a 300 foot flyball as if it's headed for Waveland.
  21. Wolters swung at a pitch that hit him in the dick a week or two ago.
  22. I think Vooch is worth it, for a few reasons. He and Lavine can be a good 1-2 on a good team, and I believe that Donovan is a good enough coach that he will figure out how best to use them together. When it comes to draft picks, I know there's a lot of value in having good players on rookie deals (not as much as the NFL, but always a good thing in a capped league), but you're also basically hoping you can draft a guy who will turn into what Vooch already is. Makes sense to go with the known quantity if you're trying to get your roster lined up to contend. I also think that being on a decent team for the first time in his career should be a boost for Vooch and the improvement in the team will help Lavine too, when he's healthy.
