Miles Robinson? or Antonee? I think both might be the actual answer. Playing Dest on the left did not work. Although when Scally came on he at least put in some good work trying to get forward. Miles. On Musah, having a mid who can hold the ball under pressure is hugely valuable. Musah is a beast. Hoping that he is healthy, because I think the WC could be quite the coming out party for him now that he is getting to play centrally for Valencia instead of on the wing.

Yep. This has been the Gregg norm. We just have to hope we summon the results when it matters like we did in nations league and the gold cup. Beating Mexico in two finals has overshadowed the fact that his teams have been clunky in the attack since day one and it hasn’t really progressed much from there. One thing is for sure, either yunus and miles Robinson are way better than we think (and I think they are very good), or this is just a typical Gregg stretch. Can’t wait for the next cycle already. I might be going joker mode for this World Cup and just root for max chaos for my team. Miles Robinson? or Antonee? I think both might be the actual answer. Playing Dest on the left did not work. Rizzo's probably the best piece in either of those lineups, with Happ probably 2nd. But then I would take (what we thought they were or might be in 2012) Castro, Castillo and maybe even DeJesus and Valbuena before another 2022 Cub. Shoot, even LaHair had played at an All-Star level in the first half, and the 2nd best hitter in the Cubs lineup yesterday (Bote? Higgins? McKinstry?) hasn't even come close to that. And Darwin Barney was at least very good defensively (or at least had that reputation... going back that far it's hard to remember his actual defensive performance. -

Why was that not intentional grounding? He was out of the pocket, but the receiver was like 5 yards away at best and it was way short of the LOS

Handing it off on 3rd and 4 against this defense ain't gonna cut it. Facemask bailed them out, but it's not a good playcall.

Of course it's a real rule, just one that no one has ever thrown a flag on before How many times have you seen a holder use a towel to dry the field and a flag isn’t called? I don't think I've ever seen a holder try to do that until today

Tuchel was sacked after the game. Assuming that will be good news for Pulisic, because Tuchel sure wasn't going to have him in the lineup unless absolutely forced.

8.28 Cubs bullpen blows it again

Not that wins and losses matter right now but seems like he punted on one game to have a marginally better shot at another game. Who is all that compelling that the Cubs would want to use this weird exemption to call up? Kilian pitched today (and got shelled). Based on his tweeting history it doesn't sound like Wesneski will be able to go to Toronto (unless he's against vaccinations but ended up getting it for baseball reasons). Edit: Saw some discussion a couple of posts up. Sounds like it makes sense. Maybe he did it to play games with the 40-man? Seems like they won't have to put Little or Estrada on yet -
There are better ways to do things. Move the mound back, make a limit on the number of pitchers on a 25/26 man roster. Don't make it a different sport. moving the mound back seems like a much bigger change than just eliminating one hitter from the lineup to me. I dont think there will ever be dramatic changes to the mound, pitchers are already dying at stunning rates, changing up what they do seems like a disaster Would lowering the mound make any significant difference either to pitcher health or to help hitters?

I know it's not the draft thread, but with the draft discussion, I'd love for there to be a guy with huge bonus demands that falls to wherever they end up picking, and then they punt on a couple extra top 10 rd picks...

Is he even relevant at this point? I mean, I guess if he just goes off . . . the other candidates seem to have all gone backwards. I think I have him 3rd in the pecking order now behind Ferreira and Pefok, with Pepi falling fast. Yeah, if Pepi can't get minutes at Augsburg, he should be in danger of missing out on Qatar. Pefok doesn't seem to offer much other than being an aerial target at the international level, so Sargent - if he keeps scoring - should have a shot at making the roster at least.
